  1. Why? Are they required for solving a puzzle or finding the cache? They don't work on GPS devices, nor in many phone apps. They would just clutter up the web page IMHO, of course. As an old curmudgeon, I tend to hate animated gifs on websites - or anywhere, really.
  2. Nowadays, most smartphones are GPS receivers (with a GPS chip). I didn't even consider the OP was taking about a dedicated GPS receiver.
  3. You can initiate an adoption, if you have someone who is willing to adopt it. To find someone willing, try posting in a Facebook group that's local to the cache area. With it being an older cache, there may be more interest in keeping it going. Info on how to do the actual adoption: https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54
  4. How do you see your current coordinates on Google Maps? I whipped out my phone and didn't see them. In general, trust coordinates when you're physically at a location rather than plopping a dot on a website map - if that's what's going on. Are the coordinates in two different formats? DD.ddddd vs DD mm.mmm? (That's decimal degrees vs. Degrees + decimal minutes)

I can imagine not wanting to add an "Other" category. People would skim over the list and say to themselves, "I can't be bothered to pick the best category. I'll choose Other and let HQ sort out which category it should be." "Other" becomes the lazy person's option.
  6. Since only a reviewer (and HQ, of course) can archive a cache without the CO's consent, it's self-evident that caches cannot be archived without the CO's consent "except under some circumstance determined by a reviewer." And those circumstances are as explained: the filing of NA logs starts the process.
  7. I've never done it, but I think this page gives the information: https://www.geocaching.com/mark/
  8. Cool find! So many trackables are lost for good, or stolen. And some, the trackable owner sends out a proxy/replacement after a while. So I think it would be hard to come up with a statistic for longest unfound TB.
  9. Side comment: I use uBlock Origin as an ad blocker, and I don't see ads on Jigidi. FWIW. Is there an alternate jigsaw-type puzzle site that could be used instead?
  10. I'd ignore Small as well, since they're usually actually micros.
  11. I do not believe so. That would require each cache to have the zip code included as part of its data, which they don't. I'm no expert, but I think your options are to add them individually as you mentioned, or do the radius thing, make it into a static list, and remove/add individual caches from that list.
  12. 1. Saw a PBS show on geocaching, thought it looked like fun. 2. A good excuse to get outdoors and get some exercise with my husband. (We almost always geocache together.) We enjoy going to the nearby conservation areas or more remote back roads and hike/walk to find a series of caches. 3. I continue to do it for the exercise, to get out into nature, and to see new places or revisit old ones. We had tapered off our activity before Covid; then (besides cycling) it was a good activity to do away from others. I think I more do it for the sunshine and nature; the containers around here are usually not very exciting, and I don't care about the numbers or stats.
  13. What happens if you correct/change the coordinates on the cache page? Do the original coords still show on the app? If so, that's a way of having both sets of coords.
  14. I don't know German, but someone else may be able to help. Here's the cache map: https://www.geocaching.com/map/#?ll=51.29717,12.39949&z=14 Lots of mystery/unknown caches in the area - lots of possible caches.
  15. If you decide to change it seasonally, you might want to note that intention in your cache description. Then the stats hounds who howl when their grid is messed up can be muzzled from the start - or at least forewarned.
  16. There's a fairly active Ontario Geocaching group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/centralontariogeocachers/ It's more Central Ontario, but members do extend in all directions from there. I'll post a link there to your post here, in case anyone there is in the area and interested in helping you out.
  17. I bet if you were able to widen your window, it'd be on the right side. When I shrank my screen down, the calendar popped down to the bottom.
  18. Go to your dashboard: https://www.geocaching.com/account/dashboard On the left sidebar are the events. Click on the one you're interested in. On the Reach the Peak series, you can click on "Increase elevation" to see what different activities are worth. Click on "Earn souvenirs" to see what the thresholds are.
  19. Please take the apostrophe out of "its"! It's inappropriate there. Oh - is that not the language question you had?
  20. Often they're newbies who pay for membership. Crazy, huh?
  21. Oops., you're right - yesterday. It's hard to keep up when the date keeps changing every day.
  22. Huh. I randomly checked one of your finds, and your log shows up for me.
