  1. Almost. After moving to Burbank CA I cam to the realization people don't know how to hide a good cache. It's all the same. Very disappointing. Then some extremely rude city people telling me the rating I put on a cache was wrong, the size was wrong, or it wasn't going to last long at all and should just take it down. Yeah, wasn't very fun. I just shook it off and continued hiding to the best of my ability.
  2. I have come across a certain hiding place in Southern California for caches about 10 times. Have you ever come across ground zero, and thought This is just a parking lot. Then you soon realize, the bottom of some light posts can come up around the pole. Upon lifting the casing, you can see the cache. Sitting there. As if it doesn't know what it did wrong. I am so tired of going around, looking for a nice cache to find and all I find are these types of hides. I don't get it. Can't city dwelling geocachers be slightly more creative? Funny story, me and a friend stopped at a local grocery store, and parked next to a light. I got out and thought ha, what if there was a cache under here? I lifted the bottom cover, just for fun. Guess what was under there.. An old altoids container, with a log, and a few little things. I checked my geocaching app to see if I could list it as a find, and it wasn't even listed. What are some hides (maybe even this one) that drive you crazy? Have you ever come across this type of hide, and if so, how many times?
  3. I Absolutely hate the new icons. I miss the pixely parts of it. The blue DNFs... all of those things. Please bring them back! We didn't mind those icons at all!!!
  4. I just came on to see how my caches were doing and noticed new Notes, published, ect. icons. What do you think of them? I for one do not like them at all. They look modern but I feel geocaching isn't. I liked how pixely everything was but now they're super polished. Do you think they'll go back to the old ones? I sure hope they do.
  5. Not sure if someone else has posted something like this, or if this is being posted in the right spot, but how did you hear about Geocaching? I saw a video in my suggestions that was called "Geocaching in the Woods" or something like that. I had no idea what it was, and I also have no idea why I clicked the video but I sure am happy that I did. I watched it, then looked up what the heck geocaching was. Once I got my head wrapped around what sounded like such a crazy idea, I looked up and found that there was a cache hidden just across the street from my house! I went out, didn't find it and expected that it was stolen, or the whole thing was a sham. Then I went with my friend and finally found it. It was so cool to find a cache from 2005 right there. I had walked by that exact spot so many times, and went to the area that it was hidden and had no idea it was there. I got hooked and tried to find all the ones in my area. Of course I didn't because they were posted nearly every day and I was moving soon. Anyway, that's how I found out about it. How did you? Also, how much later did you hide your first cache? I hid mine about 5 days after starting.
  6. I just wanted to know if there were a way to make a popular geocache. I hid one and it is my favorite out of the two that I have hidden but it never seems to be found. Maybe every 3 days, whereas my other cache gets found almost every day. I just wanted to know if there were a way to make a nice popular cache. Thanks for the help!
