    Unlock Code

I read up on how to show the unlock or completion code to the player. I couldn't find how to do this in the Groundspeak builder but URWIGO builder makes it very easy. Most of you know how to do this already, but I know a few that don't so this is for them. To activate this just set your last task to complete and have these commands in the when complete changes. (Complete/Not Complete) Then on your items create an item of complete or unlock code and it will show the player their unique unlock code. Hope this helps someone.
  2. Download a file manager like Astro and copy or move the file to sdcard/whereyougo. You could also mount the phone with a usb cable and drag and drop into the whereyougo file.
  3. I enjoy building my cartridges but I'd love to see the inner workings of other's games. And share mine alike. So maybe we can get a swap meet going on here? I suggest we upload or link our .lua in a .zip password protected file and others can PM for the password. You could choose not to give the password or not, it’s your file. But if you do it would help others. Maybe if we all share, there will be more available to the non-Wherigo areas. For example: That person that wants to build still learning might get overwhelmed and never publish. But if helped out and given permission to change and publish someone else's game in their area, they would continue to build and share. And it might find new players and ultimately, builders.

    Media specs?

Few questions. So what are we expected to do here? Include every picture twice and label them with the*_garmin and *_ppc? Which one do I load into the builder? Because I can only select one picture per screen. Also will the player always stretch the picture to 230 pixels wide? And last, is anyone using .png images? They just look better to me than .jpeg
  5. I want the zone to keep the same size and position relative to each other. Basically a 3 by 3 grid of 9 zones. Can that be done from the urwigo builder?
  6. I found a Pick-your-path children's book at a thrift store and I looks like it could be a good way to build a game. So many things line up. "You go to...", "You Meet a...", "You see a....", "You pick up a..." It almost writes the code for you. I’m just putting it out there. The book I have ends 13 different ways and it took me the better part of a day just coding the shortest story (3 choices, 5 zones, 3 characters, 2 items and a partridge in a pear tree.). Maybe I could make a series out of each story path. Make each one linear, 13 different Wherigo. I'd love to make the complete story just as published in the book and publish as a "play anywhere" but I'm working with the Groundspeak builder (just more comfortable with it) and that hasn't been enabled yet. Can anyone give me tips on how to make the game? Built it faster, more efficiently? BTW I don't know anything about copyright laws but I would list the author of the cart as the book's author and myself just as a builder. Is that still infringement?
  7. I've been working on a similar timer theme. I set tasks that needed completing (getting to a zone) and started the timer as a countdown. When it reaches 0 if the task (getting to the zone) is not complete show message "You Failed". Same for anything really, just set a task, if complete stop timer, else show message. Good luck.
  8. About two years ago I moved to my current city and started geocaching much more. I even built several caches, multis, and puzzles. I couldn't find any wherigos near me (175 miles) so I decided to build one my self. After countless hours of coding and posts in these forums I finally completed my first cartridge, published and ready to go! If you build it they will play. Dozens of people came out and played my simple tour around a downtown district. They were all so happy some one built one. Then I built another, play, yay! Then another in San Diego. Same Same. Finally, after showing the tutorial off at all of the events I've attended. I spoke to someone that was "thinking about" making one. He emailed me one day for a little help. I did the best I could, even sent him copies of my .lua files. After several months and much encouragement from me every time I saw him. HAHA.... A new Wherigo has been published! And not by me or Touchstone! The builder bug has been spread! Now all we need is a few updates from Groundspeak. The player and builder are OLD!
  9. I have a droid and have found over 150 caches with it. It is deadly accurate. I recently was out looking for a tough one and the cache owner stopped by, I told him where my coordinates showed me and less than two feet the cache was very well hidden in plain site. The droid's gps works even without cell coverage. To save battery power I have actually put the phone in "Airplane Mode" which turns off the wifi and 3G. The gps still works great. Plus the benefits are enormous on a smart phone. I have over 2000 caches loaded on my phone right now, just in case! LOL. My old GPS60 could only hold 500 and no cache details. Newer units still only hold 1000 with cache details included. BTW what is the figure 8 calibration mentioned earlier?
  10. Does the current builder not play nice with Windows 7 64 Bit?
  11. A new app just hit the market today. It's called "Columbus" if anyone tries it out, please let us know what you think about it.
  12. I wrote to the dev and they responded, "About 1.5 version. This Android version is not supported. I'm using some features that aren't available in 1.5. Hope, 2.1 will be ready for all phones soon." Sorry, hopefully you'll get an update soon.
  13. It is, but I am trying to clear out an entire city. So a regular PQ results in a circle of caches. Working from the inside out in the most efficient route would be faster than telling GC what road I want to find caches on. I'm thinking I just have to eyeball the clusters and find one-ies two-ies in between.
  14. Thanks, I'm trying to learn GSAK right now. Giving this a try. Anyway to show the route in a map instead of just the points?
  15. I am looking for a way to efficiently find all caches within a pocket query. A program or something that will plot the shortest route with least amount of back tracking between geocaches. Has anyone seen or used anything like this minus the manual method?
  16. I just recieved an update today. Includes chosing your favorite map to use instead of the default and new "Settings" button. Here's a QR code. Just for reference I'm running Verizon's Moto Droid on Android 2.1 software.
  17. Search for "Geocaching" and it is the 22nd app on the list. Just above orienteer, below some asian app. Or search for "pub:menion.asamm"
  18. Try this. In google search type in "site:Wherigo.com" then any search term you like so i.e. "site:Wherigo.com play anywhere" All the results that comeback will only be from Wherigo.com. I used this method to find all the open source carts, so that I can learn how they work. I searched "site:Wherigo.com download source" Works for anysite.
  19. I found a new (only) Wherigo app on the marketplace today. Started a new thread on it. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=248711
  20. Wherigos (unofficial) on the Droid Market today. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=248711
  21. Found a working app on the market. New thread. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=248711
  22. I know people have been waiting for a way to play Wherigo on android phones, now there is! It's called "WhereYouGo". You can get it straight from the marketplace. I downloaded the PPC version of the tutorial and copied it into the folder directory. It starts and plays great! I only had one bug, when trying to contain the Energy Source the option was not there just Scan. I saved and closed, restarted and the option appeared. The user interface is a good start, the icons and photos look great. I'm hoping more polished version soon. The buttons could use some work and their is no use of the droid's menu button. Try it out! Help the developer find all the bugs, maybe we can get Wherigo going again!
  23. I just received my package of gear from ground speak and in that were two 10 years! T-shirt geocoins. I went to activate one and it already had over 398 logs on it. How did this happen? Did I get ripped off?
