  1. I lost my gps today, and it was returned before I realized it was gone. I stopped on the way to work to grab a quick cache N dash. I was running late for work, and that probably attributed to my haste. I just walked off, and left my gps laying on the ground. I have a Garmin Etrex Legend, and it has an option to put in your owner info. I put my name, address, and offered a $50.00 reward if returned. I was shocked that it worked. I was happy to give the guy $50, because I would hate to have to pay full price for another. It may be worth adding that little line in your gps. It might not work, but it's worth a shot. The guy that found it didn't know what it was, or what it was worth. He was happy for his $50.00, and I was happy to have it back.
  2. There is a cache in my area that is similar to what you describe. The name of the cache is the same as the name on the headstone. The cache is an ammo can under the headstone, but it is in a very old cemetary. The cemetary hasn't been used for a very long time, it is in the woods, and not maintained. I thought it was a great idea for a cache. One other thing, the cache isn't acctually in what was the cemetary, but very close.
  3. I hope I'm a nanny in this regard. I have recently obtained GC7572, and I have worried ever since about where it goes next. It has been around a long time, and while I understand why traveling caches have gone away, this is a little piece of history. At least as far as geocaching is concerned, and I don't want to be the last person to log this cache. Any perspective takers???
  4. Alot of really good jobs out there that lend themselves nicely to geocaching. I would like to add mine to the list. I travel all over 5 counties in NY and PA. Lunch is in a different town almost daily, and I can take lunch whenever I want. Great for cache and grabs. I have to leave the really fun ones for the weekends though. Being a phoneman is a great job.
  5. My wife and I went geocacheing today, and were dissapointed. There was suppose to be a travel bug in the cache that has been traveling for about 4 years. He was gone. Someone signed the log in the cache, and said they took him but never logged the find here. This was back in January. Should I notify the bug owner. Would be a shame to see such a well traveled bug disappear.
  6. When you show up late for work, because that cache is in the next tree
  7. Thanks for the advice folks, this little bug will find a new place to hide this weekend.
  8. I found my second cache today, and it contained a travel bug. I logged it, and this bug seems to have no history. It was last shown in the hands of the owners, with no log's since. The log for the cache I found it in has no mention of it, and the the owners haven't logged a found cache in over a year. Do I send this bug on it's way, or put it back where I found it? The owners only found caches are 400 miles away(again, over a year ago), and this bug seems to appeared out of thin air.

  10. Tests, nobody said anything about a test. Where should I go to study?
  11. Ok, it's gone, but I don't know why... Certainly not my expert caching skills
  12. How do I get rid of this tadpole thing. I know I got a dnf on my first cache, but i look forward to one thing.... GOODBYE TADPOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. wish I had seen this post sooner. Spent a week trying to decide... Etrex Legend, or Explorist 210. Glad I got my Legend... #3 on the list
  14. I received my Garmin Legend today, and I have a question. I recall reading somewhere that Gps units function better while laying flat. Is that true, or can I stuff it in my pocket?
  15. Thanks for the info. Got the email from USPS when I got home last night. Ordered at lunchtime, and it shipped before I got home.
  16. Thanks to the info on this site and folks in the chat room, I have made up my mind. Ordered my Legend from price grabber for $122 shipped. Thanks to those who helped. I can't wait to find my first cache.
  17. Found another one, but good luck with the sale.
  18. Email me at chu92566@yahoo.com. Plan on buying a Legend or Explorist 210 this week anyways.
  19. I'm very interested, for the right price.
  20. Thanks for the input. Which unit has the larger display? On their web sites, one lists display size in inches, the other in pixles.
  21. I would like to purchase a gps in the next couple weeks. These two fall in my price range, and have similar specs. Any advice on which is the better unit I plan to use it for Geocaching, but I own 15 acres of land with know idea where the boundry markers are. Would either of these units be helpful in locateing them. Any advice would be appreciated.
