  1. WOW, that would be a really hard puzzle for me to figure out! lol Wouldn't even attempt it! I thought the puzzle caches close to me were hard.... I did a REALLY cute Bingo puzzle cache last weekend... Not too hard at all....
  2. WOW, there are some REAL TB's here!! LOL I only have 2 FTF, same park, same day about 10 miles or less from my home.....
  3. I work nights M-F so I go caching every Sat am when I get off. I usually make a list of about 20 caches to look for and usually find about 15 of them. I'm starting to run out of local caches and making my way outward from the town I live in. Will probably be cutting my numbers back though cuz I live in Texas and it get waaaay too hot for me after about 9 or 10 am when its already in the 90's.....
  4. Came across a Guardian scorpion this past weekend... Have a pic but don't know how to post it here....
  5. Welcome and have FUN!!!
  6. I'm not even getting the letter anymore for some reason... Yes I have my stuff set right and nope not in my junk mail box... Just not coming....
  7. Not my cache or log BUT saw a log posted that basically said: We think your cache is gone so we used an empty Gatorade bottle, put in a log and some toys and replaced your cache for you.... SMH....
  8. Check the TB page. Maybe the owner's wishes are there. By default, TB logs are to show the travels of the Travel Bug, not to show the travels of the person who took it. I think that there should be something worthwhile to such "Visits" other than "I'm carrying it around with me for too long, for a reason unknown to you". If a cacher places a TB into a cache, and the next log is a Retrieve log by a different cacher, and this happens over and over for months, that's documentation that the TB is still in play. If he instead keeps it himself for months, all you know is there are a lot of logs. I would think that if "you're searching for a cache big enough" (that's odd... whatever happened to the cache you found it in!), or "doing the owner a huge favor by keeping the TB" (another great reason ), that you'd need to do more work than usual to prove it's at still alive. Photos, stories, a lot more than just the one "drop" log when placing in into a cache. All I'm saying is, if you're doing the TB owner a favor, do him a favor. I don't even take a TB unless I have a plan on where I will immediately place it. I meed a cache that's larger in size as some of them a attached to bigger items... lately all I've found are either too small to fit even a GC in or in higher muggle areas and I don't want it stolen... For some reason we have ALOT of micros around here. All the amo can type caches are in the middle of fields and not good to go in until all the high weeds die off due to poison ivy and snakes... Such is Texas in the spring and early summer... Guess I should do a couple of visit posts so they know I still have it and am waiting to drop it in a new cache... TY If you can't manage to part with the TB for some reason, any log is better than nothing. Some people (takers and owners) don't care, but I'd prefer at least some human-typed text in the "took it to" log.
  9. I don't know yet cuz I've never had my own TB! lol Just wondered who likes it & why or who doesn't and why...
  10. These are not my TB/GC, they are one's I've picked up to move along. I had just noticed some people visit them at all the caches they go to and wondered what other thought about that....
  11. I am fairly new to geocaching and have noticed on some of my TB/GC's pages that people sometimes post the TB/GC is visiting... Wondering if I should be doing that with some of the ones I have in my possession. I have dropped them yet but keep them with me in case I find a cache big enough & muggle-free enough to drop them. Should I be marking them as "visited"??? Thoughts??
  12. Just read through all the posts. Learned a few things which is good. I would probably be one of the one's who looked for said cache (I assure you I wasn't, I live in Texas and never been to Oregon), because I would assume the CO had gotten permission like they were supposed to. If I'm uncomfortable about a cache location, I message the CO. Here's my example: There is a local cache in a family burial plot, which is now marked as a historical site. From descriptions I thought it would be right off the road. When I got to the site I discovered it is actually about 250 feet in the middle of a cornfield! Stopped me in my tracks. When I got home I messaged the CO to make sure it was OK to walk through this field. Turns out it is his/her family land and I have permission to do so. When the ground dries up some from all the rain we have gotten lately (thankfully) I will go searching!! Had they not answered me, I would not do this!! I guess I am lucky as Texas Parks and the local parks and rec in the towns I live closest to are OK with geocaching, even offer courses, hide geocaches and have planned geo-cache days!! I have only come upon this one cache that made me uncomfortable, but I will be doing the same thing should I ever come upon another one. I have also noticed a lot of the local CO's post on their cache page when they have permission from a church minister, business owner or land owner to place the cache which is VERY helpful!! As far as destruction? If I find I'm having to do more than turn over a few rocks or logs, I'm done. I firmly believe in CITO and will not tear up stuff to get to a cache, thankfully I haven't come across this issue either!! If I'm looking that hard I will message the CO for assistance/ clues!! Just adding my thoughts and experience, even as a fairly new cacher! Thanks and have a great day!!
  13. First I look for damage on the cache, cracks, holes, etc.. I keep duck tape in my geo-pack and will do a simple tape the hole/crack repair... Then I will add 1 new log sheet in a new ziplock for wet cache and dry the container out with tissues. If a lid is missing or container is smashed I don't try to fix or repair. Either way I add a maintence log so the CO knows... There are a couple of CO's in my area that don't maintain their caches anymore... I don't do any repairs on caches owned by them... Never had an issue with any of the nano-type caches I've found, all have been dry, knock on wood!
  14. Because the person placing the cache is the one responsible for obtaining the permission to hide the cache in the location, the 253 people who went past the sign probably assumed the cache placer did what he/she was supposed to do and obtained permission for the hide. From what I know, that's the way it works. BUT they should have NEVER destroyed any property looking for the cache... Sorry that y'all went through that....
  15. Same problem with a cacher in my area. LOTS of DNF caches. I even go look for those ones just in case it's there but harder to find. Will go out several times looking, then ask CO to check it. I have even gone to some DNF's that haven't been found for 2+ years.. At that point I post a needs archived note.....

  17. I have yet to place one... BUT I see some of you posted that your puzzle caches have been out awhile. Those are sooooo hard!!! I've looked at a few but even the starting point evades me.... lol
