  1. If this in regards to the Boy scout camps category, it lists that it is for Boy Scouts of America camps. The BSA is an organization for boys from the USA only. See Boy Scouts of America However, I did see that the BSA does potentially have some camps outside of the USA, specifically Canada. If the one you wanted to list was a BSA camp, then try to find some info to back that up. I think we would approve it.
  2. Sometimes you may only put the coordinates in the GPSr. Then you do what you might normally have to do to log a visit (take pictures of yourself, or your GPSr at the location). If there are other requirements on the waymark, then it might not be discovered until you get ready to log the visit when you are home. That is a major bummer when you know you were there, but you didn't read the waymark ahead of time or have it printed out. I don't mind pictures or info required to log a visit as long as all of the waymarks in a category are consistent in their logging requirements. I don't like it when a waymark owner takes it upon them selves to add additional logging requirements that are not posted in the category description. Just my 2 cents.
  3. I placed a geocache called George Harrison Crossroads (GCX1D9) which was near the intersection of George Hill Rd and Harrison Branch. I'm not sure if that would count in your category.
  4. Yeah, I added the type as a variable when I figured it out. Even though, I can't seem to find a way to search by variable. So it is a moot point.
  5. I not sure what you mean by the above statement. The airports category doesn't exclude any airports. If you think it does exclude it, send me the specifics of your airport and I'll let you know for sure.
  6. I think the ultralight airfields you mention would definitely fit under the Airports category. I would be willing to ask my category members what they think and add an appropriate variable (if I can figure out how to do that).
  7. I see nothing wrong with logging a WM before it is approved. There needs to be a policy decided on this or each category owner needs to decide what the category policy is. I have seen some officers post that they will disapprove a WM if it is logged before approved. There is no basis for this disapproval in the category requirements. If it is listed as such in the category requirement, then I have no problem with it. Ideas? Comments?
  8. I specifically asked the owner of one of my waymarks that has a private message if he can see it and he cannot. Could it be that some of the new leaders of the groups are not owners so that can't see the messages. Should only the category owner see them or any officer of the category?
  9. Can anyone see private messages in waymarks? I am an leader / owner of a few categories and I can't see them. I have put some private messages in a few of my submitted waymarks, but the category owner just declines the waymark and asks the specific question that I had already answered in the private message. Are private messages broken?
  10. I think you have two distinct types of locations. These two should not be mixed. The first group might be a valid category such as Historic Rocket Launch Sites or Historic Space Locations. I tend to believe that the second group might be more of a game or fun thing to do type of category. I don't think it would be beneficial unless it is more narrow such as Awesome Astronomical Viewing Sites or the like. These would need to be unique and not as mundane as everyones back yard. Just my opinion.
  11. I always thought that locating the categories that were in peer review was a little clunky. I had to go through several clicks to find them. It was not intuitive to find. That might be the reason that more people don't participate. The only way I know to see it is on the main page under Waymark Category Search. I was looking for it to be somewhere on my page. Telling me with a flashing icon that categories were in peer review. Similar to when a waymark is waiting for approval. Just a thought.
  12. Any update on the July coin orders?
  13. Wow, I guess I set off a firestorm when I asked about virtuals. I just saw that waymark and thought it was wrong. I feel that as long as there is a pretty good chance that a visitor to the coordinates will see what the waymark owner posted then that is a valid waymark. With the art cars example, if the car is NORMALLY parked at the owners residence, then there is a very good chance that a visitor would see it if he went there. I use the rule in my All Things Star Wars category: The item you find must be a phisical item or place that is considered "permanent" and can be re-visited by other members of this community. Keep in mind, PERMANENT is the key word here. Putting a Yoda doll on your living room floor and taking a picture of it does NOT count. Moving objects (Cars, planes, etc) can be listed if it is resting in it's "home" and will most likely be there for at least 6 months. In other words, an x-wing model at a museum is ok, a suped up A-Wing car parked in the owner's driveway is ok, however that same A-Wing car parked in a parking lot is NOT ok. I have rejected waymarks for this Star Wars category for places that would only be there for 2 weeks. For example, a traveling museum. It needs to be more permanent in my opinion. Also, on the notion of Wikipedia entries, I think you have to actually visit the location listed for the entry. Not just the web address of the entry. So that is valid in my book.
  14. What do you think about virtual waymarks? By definition don't you have to be able to go to the coordinates posted and see something remotely like the category? For example: WMKW6 What do you think?
  15. I'm not sure if the piers on here want to review your category. All they know how to do is stick out in the water and let people fish off of them. Sorry, I couldn't resist!
  16. In my mind there is no difference between trading or selling. Each uses the barter system. Each person assigns an internal value to that item. Whether it is $8 or 1 coin. It is all the same. Coins might be more rare if they are trade only, but each one still has a real world $ value. Even if the coin has written on it, "do not sell". It can be sold. No assumptions should be made when trading that the coin will never be sold. I haven't sold any coins received through trades, but if I was short cash I might hock them in a second. Or even if I got tired of collecting coins, I would feel no moral wrong was commited in selling that coin. Don't get so bent out of shape if someone sells a coin that you traded to them. You do not own it anymore. Just my 2 cents.
  17. I have also noticed that most of the reference marks have an arrow on them pointing towards the main station. At least the ones I have seen do.
  18. If there is no logging requirement with a photo for proof of visit, then I guess it is ok.
  19. I got mine in the mail today. I believe that I mailed my request about a week ago. So still send in your request if you haven't! Sweet!
  20. Your description of this group is too narrow. There are lots of second hand stores that are not run by non profit organizations. Limiting this category to ones run by Goodwill, etc. is too limiting. If you expand the definition to all 2nd hand resale / thrift shops, then I have no problem with that. I went to a resale shop yesterday, and it would not have met the requirements as it is currently written because it is run by a lady as her business. I don't think she is a non profit organization. But I could be wrong. My 2 cents. Take it or leave it.
  21. Hello, some searchs work. Some don't. I want to find caches near zip code 37934. It is telling me "Postal code cannot be found in the system. Please try another search option." What is the problem? Maybe it is too new? Any ideas?
  22. You can use the link posted above. Just add the GUID at the end of the URL. Then you can reject a waymark that has already been approved. Approve / Reject Waymark link You can find the GUID of the waymark by going to its waymark page. Then select the GUID from the URL. Add it to the end of the above link and voila. It works. I just tried it on one of my own.
  23. I found two reference marks for a triangulation disk. However, the main mark is destroyed as far as I can tell. It might be under the nearby building, but I doubt it. The main mark has PID FD1407. The reference marks are listed on the official datasheet, but they don't have individual PIDs. Should these reference marks be listed as discovered benchmarks on Waymarking.com? See my log for FD1407. Also, I found this USGS elevation marker, but can't find anything about it. I don't have the coordinates handy, but they are close to: N 35.546439 W86.164055 Are USGS benchmarks logged online somewhere? Also, the NGS database appears to not be working for me? Anyone else seeing this?
  24. When I try to upload an image for a log of a benchmark and I click on the "has a waypoint" checkbox, it reloads, but I don't get the fields for entering the waypoint. Also, if a file was already selected in the file field, it will upload the file, but it will have to upload again when you click on upload button. Is this a known bug? I think this worked before for logs for a cache. But now that doesn't work either. Any ideas?
  25. I just placed and order a minute ago, but now the website is timing out for me too. It pings ok too, so that is weird.
