  1. I too have sold most of my past GPSr's through EBAY, I have been waiting for a GPSr like the 60cs, and now that I finally have it, and my trusty Lowrance Ifinder, I should be set for years to come. The Ifinder is great for backpacking, because you can save all of the 10,000 track points and follow the trail back, and its so cheap you arn't constantly man-handling it. Anyways, the 60cs solves all of my general GPS needs except for the inability to save 100% of the 10,000 track points. If I had all the GPSr's some of you had, I would sell all of the outdated ones, so I suppose I am problem free?
  2. Their are so many posts here, but what is the general goal of this program, what would it do for me?
  3. Mapopolis is VERY simple, lots of confusing menus make it hard to mess with while driving, but its good for some people. It worked terrible when I used a BlueTooth GPS with my HP 2210 Pocket PC, the program doesn't like the HP's or BT gps's so keep that in mind. Other then that I really didn't have much of a problem with the auto routing when I had it. One thing I like is they let you download a sample map for your area along with the full version of the program, the map lasts a few days. So try it out if your looking for one.
  4. The new Lowrance H2O beats all other handheld gps units when it comes to "really" needing them in critical situations.
  5. I agree that such a high price for a unit with out maps does not compare to another unit equally priced with maps. But think from another point of view, such as a person who only would use it on the trails, backpackers, mountaineers, and so on. It has a small screen but when held in hand this is hardly a issue. hmm... I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  6. Well, on My GPS REVIEW site, I posted some screen shots of how much you can fit on 8mb. The three programs I compared was, US TOPO, US METRO GUIDE, and US ROADS AND RECREATION. Here is the Link, you may have to copy and paste to the TOOL BAR for it too work. http://www.geocities.com/etrexrose/rinomap.html I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  7. Is it just me, or does that AudioVox, GPS/Radio unit's screen look suprisingly similar to the Garmin Etrex's screen? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  8. I have owned, a Garmin Etrex, Legend, Vista and Magellan Meridian Gold. I currently own a Garmin Rino 120, Lowrance Ifinder, and (my brothers) garmin 76s My favorite is the Lowrance because of its advanced features but my brothers 76s is better of course but 3 times more money and the maps are way outdated compared to my Lowrance's MapCreate 6 (note i use Metro Guide). The Rino is a great unit for biking, and walking but not for road use which is what I use my lowrance for. The rino and 76s get exactly the same reception. My lowrance is better (sensitivity) hope this helps I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  9. I am very happy for you, I had a good experience with garmin for my Rino 120 also, but unlike magellan, they dont send you free stuff. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  10. I suggest City Navigator because it can autoroute, send the route to your gps, then you can follow it and never miss a turn on the way to a geocache, unless you really find the topo lines a MUST for geocaching (of course it is not needed except in certain situations which I cannot think of) I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  11. as I said before, their is a gps out their for everyone, and the geko 101 was just right for this fella. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  12. well, you may have wanted to keep the 128mb card, because 256 is A LOT of memory for mapping-thats like half the US basically. If you really feel you need that much then thats fine but your really only need 64 mbs to be happy. Have fun I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  13. Your right BeDoggy, Their is a GPSr out their for everyone, which depends on how they will use it, where they will use it, how often they will use it, and their price range. The geko 101 is an awesome unit for some people, but to others who have much more advanced (and expensive) units just could not handle such a low featured unit. But what I am trying to say is, you pay for what you get, and when the gekos fits that saying perfect. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  14. Hey, I am just curious any geocachers take their Geocaching time and also take pictures of the areas they go to. I have an Olympus c-4000 and I always take my camera and take some cool pictures in the sometimes remote places geocaching takes me. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  15. Color? Seriously, if you were to choose between a grey 301 or a blue 301 but the blue one could only save 250 waypoints and both were of equal price-which one would you buy? All im saying is, when Im on the trails or geocaching I dont say, I HATE THE COLOR OF THIS STUPID GPSr. Instead it never crosses my mine and I worry about the capabilities of the unit and what Im doing, unless maybe you buy it too show it off to your friends and have a low self-esteem so when they make fun of the "grayish" color of your GPS, it really effects you. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  16. Wouldn't it be sweet if they came out with some new rinos with POWERFUL radios? of course... I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  17. That SUCKS! I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  18. Hey Montana Latitude, two words "your momma." Get a Lowrance Ifinder, sportraks lie. Rinos are fine. Quit complaining, I dont see all the other Rino users complaining. What xp do you have with GPS anyways? I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  19. Or you could get a great GPS-the Lowrance Ifinder for about 100 over ebay and then you have a great gps thats better then the meridians in almost every way except its not waterproof but it includes a water proof bag. Another thing is, no gps will give you good reception in dense tree cover (consumer models) and you will have to learn to expect that. The Sport Track models from magellan are great units and the price is right, but they tend to "lie" about your actuall position. Where a lowrance will say No GPS Fix, a garmin will say 500 foot accuracy, but a Sport trak will lie and just give you like 50 foot accuracy with only 1 or 2 weak signals from Sats. just my opinion, remember, the most popular isn't always the best unit for everyone... I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  20. I dont think I can trust love any more I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  21. I know your tired I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  22. Its too bad you only have Garmin and Magellan, because out of the Etrex, Etrex Legend, Etrex Vista, Meridian Gold, and Rino 120, my favorite and most dependable/advanced unit is my Lowrance Ifinder. I guess you have to own one to really know but just because Lowrance does not market their units as much as Garmin and Magellan does not make them worse units. Just thought I would share my thoughts I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  23. Yeah, I bet Garmin or Magellan are really aware of the demand for GPSr's with "handheld" screens and gpsr's with goggle screens. You have to admit, you guys are getting a little rediculous. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
  24. I really think Lowrance should get more aggressive in the HandHeld units like the 100 and Ifinder. They are very simple but very effective and have lots of advanced features. Just think if they really pushed out some different units that had similar fuctionality but were water proof or direct competitors of garmin/magellan. Maybe they just need to do more marketing for their hand held units. I do what I gotta do, when I GOTTA do it.
