  1. Thanks guys for the help. I had forgotten about measuring with the map program, and I have done that in the past. I made use of that last night to get an idea of close we were to a certain cache. It helps to engage the brain at times. I used the gpsr today to see what was nearest after searching for them using the zipcode that I needed within a 10 mile radius, I just downloaded the loc file as that was I needed to work with anyway. It worked great out in the field. I was able to figure out where I needed to go in order to place a cache.
  2. That sounds easy enough, I think I can manage that. You know I never noticed that on my GPSr before, or rather noticed it but never paid it any attention. That would definitely work. How bout if we are not at the site, but have already left it and all we have are the cords to work with?
  3. If I have to figure out how far away a cache is from a likely spot to put one, how can I figure that out using our cords? What is the conversion process in laymens terms that is?
  4. This is one of the biggest problems with reviewer notes. Their main focus is to document the exchange between cache hider and reviewer *before* the cache is listed. When published, these notes automatically delete when the cache is published. It makes it so we don't have to go back and manually delete them (which we used to do and was time consuming). Reviewer notes posted on a published cache go to no one except the owner and the watchlist. If you have a question about a cache *after* it is published, you must write the reviewer directly via their profile or email. Glad I was reading the topic. I'll check out the cache for you Team Gryarvold. Am so glad you are around. You have saved the day. Now I now know what to do the next time ( which hopefully won't happen for awhile) this happens. Thanks for being on the ball for us.
  5. Well we have our first muggle report. They took the Whole thing, TB's and all. Most upsetting. So we have posted a note for our reviewer to approve the new cords that we had to relocate to. They did leave us a crow bar to replace the one we lost in the lake a few days before.
  6. I can't say for sure on the time frame between logging and running the pq. I don't think it was the same day though. We logged on Friday and ran the pq on Saturday. Yep that's the way it was, now that I think about it. We ended up not caching on Saturday so just ran the pq to update things.
  7. How do I figure out why I have 121 finds on gc.com but only 117 in cache stats with 121 unique finds? It must be easy, but I don't do easy very well.
  8. I had an experience with a reviewer the other day that I want to share with you. For whatever reason our main reviewer was absent (hope he was on a grand caching vacation), anyway, I had put up for review a few caches and one of them was a multicache a five parter. I had no idea that we had to make new waypoints on a new page now for those. I got an email from the sub reviewer letting me know this. I wrote back asking how and all that. She wrote back letting me know all the particulars right away. She gave me excellent on the spot help that I am most thankfull for. This was late at night when most folks are abed getting their beauty sleep and here she was, burning the midnight oil so we could go out the next day and have fun while she more than likely had to sleep. Our reviewers have garnered staunch supporters on this team.
  9. I have to say that I think we edited ours about 3 times before posting it. Even using Word, we still found some things wrong. I wrote it and edited it, then hubby edited, then I re-wrote and edited it again and then hubby re-read it and we still found errors after I had posted it. So we are hoping that with all of that said and done it will read fairly well and folks will like it. We put alot of work into it to make it special for the series. And we hope that the location will remain a good one.
  10. We would have gone and gotten it on one of those days when we are in a hurry somewhere but want to get a few quick caches and get our fix for the day. Don't have time for a hike or a puzzle but GOTTA GET A CACHE. So yes, we would read the info and either save it or get it. Do we mind that the reviewers and or the cache owners list it, no we don't one bit. We have been quilty of putting a few of those out like that and we have others in the area that do it, and the people that like them get them and the ones that don't, don't. But we think the numbers that are getting them speak for themselves.
  11. We just got on the ball today and ordered ours, now will more than likley be to late and not get one. I have had a white one in a cache now for a little while.
  12. I went to high school in Days Creek not that far from where you put the cache. So can't wait to get there to find it. If I'm not an old grandma by then (or at least an older grandma)
  13. When the family says "oh you are coming for a visit how nice, we can't wait to see you" we can say "what visit, we just came for the cache gotta run"
  14. We tried Spinner, but couldn't get the durn thing to work right, so tried Gsak and it was love at first gpx. Wouldn't do without it now.
  15. Louisiana is awaiting review. We are so excited. We may have to make a trip to our home state of Oregon just to get the cache. As well as all the others along the way of course.
  16. Post a link to Hermes' Profile Page and we'll add him to the list! All you have to do is click on his team name right?
  17. (doing best Vincent Price impression) you'll have the perfect cache container already picked out. Sorry I had to do it, my mind is a scary place sometimes. bwmick Oh and Vincent was one of my favs too. Great idea.
  18. Love this program. Just wish we could get queries more often than 7 days. Am coming up on a milestone and can't get it entered until next week. Bummer that. Kudos for a job well done on this program.
  19. I don't think I would put to much faith in a mason, even if it did look sturdy. Too many things could happen.
  20. I could go for the cremains travel bug idea. What a great way to see the world on a shoestring. Yep and I would most definitely pick one up if I found one and pass it on. I think it's a great idea. Will have to work on that one, find just the right container.
  21. We watched it as well and really enjoyed it. Even thought Magellan is sponsoring it,we could swear that they were using Garmins. They looked just like ours. To be able to be in a game like that would be so cool.
  22. Our whole team and extended family love cemetery caches, whatever the size. Part of us will look for the cache and others will wander the grounds and then filling us in when we return to the car. For us it's a great history lesson and with so many small abandoned cemeteries in our area, or ones that have been moved when the lake came in, we still have not found all of them yet. When we are out and about, whether caching or some chore that needs doing, we are always on the look out for cemeteries stuck back in the woods somewhere. We study maps and see if we can find out of way abandoned ones to place caches to draw cachers to that area. But we also like the huge the city grounds that are more often than not quite beautiful and well laid out. Even the youngest of the group at 3 years old yells out when he sees one, and has to go visit all the flowers on the markers while others are seeking. I want to be cremated, so I am still trying to figure out how to incorporate a cache into that. Any ideas?
