  1. Thanks guys, so in essence when I get the phone I need to make sure that it runs palm software only. That helps with my decision considerably.
  2. I found that Gsak works better for me and also it seems easier to manipulate for some people, me being one of them.
  3. I am getting ready to upgrade my phone and am looking at the either the blackberry pearl or the treo 680. Which one runs cachemate better since I can't live without it now? Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.
  4. I just got the idea from your post that you were disgruntled with the CAA series and peeved that they weren't on the main arteries that were easier to get to and were dissing the whole shebang. We ourselves may never get the whole series done either but sure will get the ones we can get to on our trips.
  5. The biggest challenge with placing these caches near major arteries is that there are not many good places that have historical value that will hold large containers and not be muggled, hence the reason for putting one lower in the state like we did in LA. This cache is still near a main interstate and you can get off, get the cache, see a few sights and get back on again in an hour or less or you can take longer if you wish. Our cache has been up and running in good order since the first month or so and even came back into commision soon after it was muggled at it's first location. So unless you have actually took the time to put out one of these caches and did all the planning involved I don't think I would cast stones at those that did. I myself would be only too happy to get another CAA in any spot they were located.
  6. Louisiana has been up and running for a little while now. Check it out. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...83-1d7e43c71b2f
  7. So, to this date has anybody found a script compatible with IE? I think it's a great tool and would love to implement it. How does Firefox work?
  8. You hit the nail on the head. Thank you. After you posted this I went back into my email and checked the date they entered for the log and sure enough it was dated back in June, but they just entered it yesteday. So the logs didn't show up at the end of the string like normal, but the towards the front. Sure through me curve there for sure. You learn something new everyday.
  9. Anybody else having problems with their caches updating when it has a new log posted? I get the log notice in my email but the cache pages aren't updating with the new logs on them, neither is my owned cache listing page.
  10. There is also a small peak between Ft. Stockton and El Paso, around Balmorhea that is called Squaw Tit. Given that these peaks now hold this names it would be rather silly to pretend that they don't exist.
  11. Ours is just a basic how do you do. But we like our pooch alot.
  12. If they have extras can we order another one? Sure would like to put another out there, the first one got snapped up so fast.
  13. You have been a big help. I was looking in the wrong spot for the sheets. I got them all downloaded and into GSAK and then onto the map. I had no idea there were so many Benchmarks.
  14. Good enough, thanks for the info, although I am pretty sure that I knew it was Benchmarking and not Geocaching and that the disc would be useless now underwater. I may be new to this forum and such, but I don't believe I was born yesterday. Just making sure I do things correctly.
  15. We have one (maybe more than one) that is now underwater with the lake that has gone in back in the 60's and the last time the marker was recovered was in 1943, next to a farmhouse that is now underwater as well. Do we mark that (these) as unfound?
  16. Tried this today and it worked like a charm. Thanks bunches for the tutorial. It sure helped alot. Once I did this I could then export into Delorme and get a peak of things on the map. Worked great.
  17. Where can we find a topographic map that shows the survey markers?
  18. Thank you for answering that for me. I saw the Radio Shack post after I posted this one. Now I just have to tell my other half that we need one of those little do-hickies. It's a good thing that he has been wanting one for awhile. You mentioned the NGS data sheets. When I searched for the data sheets for the 2 markers that we found, the search came back with nothing but a few words about not being able to pull up the data because either the vertical or horizontal measurments were not there. However I was able to see the sheets that were on the Geocaching site. Why is that. Am I searching in the wrong spot for the sheets?
  19. We found our first 2 markers today, and had a few that we did not find. If we use metal detectors will they help locate buried markers that should be there but you can't see. Has anybody tried this before?
  20. What's the rules for placing caches on military sites? Love the patch, even though we have been retired since Desert Storm. Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys over there.
  21. No, wouldn't ya know it, we forgot to take the picture. Guess we are out of the running till next year, or if we just happen to luck on another one. May have to just wait for Santa Claus for that new GPSr.
  22. We try to start as soon as the sun comes up for cooler temps in the summer. Shorts are a must, doesn't matter the condition of my legs. When school starts in the fall the kids won't see them anyway.
  23. We got ours a couple of days ago. Yahoo!! It's already on the road. Placed it in the new Cache Across America-Louisiana and it was picked up at 11:30 last night. We forgot about it not starting till the 1st so hope we aren't in trouble. Just got so excited about getting one. If they have extra can people get another if they so desire?
  24. Isn't this already being done? check out Cache Across America. I wouldn't have known about it, except one of our local guys just published one for our state (WV). This is the same one, but it ended up with the Cache Across America title. We have Louisiana.
  25. Why, Thank You Mtn-Man, that was nice to say. We did get aggravated some with that cache, what with all the re-positioning away from other caches in that small area that we went through. Our first muggling and it had to be that one. But we persevered and got it out again, and it has a FTF on it already.
