  1. Hi, I thought I would post this email I got from a volunteer who takes our sumbit's for caches and makes then reality on the web page. I had recently (today 7/31/02) made 5 virtual caches in my area. 2 of them just happened to be right on the same street and I placed them as seperate virtual caches. Thats how i wanted them to be. Well I got an email stating because i used the same coordinated on accident that i had to combine them. So i went to my cache page changed the coordinates to the right one of one of them and sent it back to him. I got an email stating he had recieved my request, but has since archived it on his behave because it was on the same street. But I wanted it to be 2 different ones, because they were 2 different ones. Well this nice fella' (ya right) sent me this email:

User erik88l-r has contacted you with the following message:

I posted one and archived the other. I got your e-mail but even with the new

coordinates they are right next to each other.

Do this - invest $5 in an ammobox, log book, and some trinkets. That's what

geocaching should be about - not posting the coordinates of every halfway

interesting place around town. Let quality take precedence over quantity!

    Best Wishes,

I for one enjoy virtual caches as many others do and I thought that you all would like to know that our ... how did he put it halfway interesting places around town is not geocaching. EXCUSE ME... WHO MADE U GEO-GOD!!! WHAT DO U THINK??? icon_rolleyes.gif

  2. I was just wondering if any of you keep a log book for your self. A book you keep with you to write all the caches you have been to and what you took or left and the # it was. I do this, to keep for fond memories. I am also placing pictures in there if i took any by the cache or it itself (virtual). It would be a great coffee table book if you get real creative and go scrap book heaven there. But family members would be looking at it, friends and you too if you have not already get more people involved. Just remember the nore people who know about geocaching the more caches there will be out there!! What do you do?? icon_rolleyes.gif

  4. I was wondering if any one has come upon an urban legand cache. Like here in New Jersey we have an urban legand or even folk lore legand of the JERSEY DEVIL...!! In the story he was born in the Leed's house, which some people to believe they might have found out in the woods. (Not quite sure where). But i was wondering if anyone has made a cache (virtual or a real one) out of a site like this... like say.. here lays the place where the Jeresy Devil was believed to be born and you might find a cache there or answer a few ?'s... just curious!! icon_rolleyes.gif

  10. I like your idea, but think of a few con things too. 1. Not everyone has a camera (digital) to do this or say the money or the time. 2. Why would people wait to get a card for a virtual cache that might be like 15 minutes down the road from them when they can go down answer what ever they have to and log it, instead. We have a bunch of geocachers waiting for cards instead of geo caching. I think they would be neat to collect... especially if you have been to that area and might keep a scrapbook with your cache finds and hides. I'm not bashing your idea. I too like it. But someone had to put some cons in there but if we can work out the kinks it would be a very good idea. (Especially if you found, lets say a virtual cache card from CA in NJ, you keep it and maybe in the summer time you take a trip to find that and document it and keep the card for memories.) icon_biggrin.gif
