Speaking of phones and geocaching - I wonder if geocaching.com could set up a voice blog at www.blogspot.com

I did take a WG bill once but I agree that they should be spent and let them go on their way.

That being said, I see nothing wrong with a respectfull cache being placed there as long as the goal of the cache is to get people more familiar with some one or some thing at the cemetery.
For example although I haven't yet done so, I would consider a cache at a cemetery that had Civil War soldiers buried there as a way to point them out to people and therefore not let them be forgotten.

I have an eTrex Legend and I find it quite easy to use.
With easyGPS I can download all my waypoints with ease and I find the accuracy pretty good as well.
My only complaint would be the relatively small screen size for these old eyes but then, the small size makes it easy to carry.

My walking stick is made out of a piece of 1.5" x 1.5" x 6' hickory that I hand carved over 30 years ago and it barely has any marks on it, even after smashing through miles of bushes and fallen trees!
I think a good piece of hickory is more than enough protection, I sure don't feel a need to put a blade in it just asking for a 'concealed weapon' charge.
Hiking with a walking stick is like putting a cap on your pickup truck, once you've done it, you'd never want to do it any other way.

If a company is providing a service for free wireless connections, then of Course I see no problems! But then, why would you have to say "it's not even illegal"?
The idea of me looking out my window and noticing a vehicle with someone using my wireless set-up for their own laptop just tends to annoy me!
At the very least, it seems to me they'd be slowing me down from what I was doing and at the very worst, they could be seeing what I was doing!
But in either case, this idea reminds me of the thread of posting co-ords of places to buy ammo cans.

This thread may be flame bait but just because something's not illegal doesn't mean you should do it!
You have to be old enough to know that.
Leave other people's stuff alone, even if it's just wireless bandwidth!

It wasn't me! The cannon I shoot would probably have taken your box and the tree with it!
However, your box was probably shot with a shotgun, your picture looks like flattened pellets.
I had some acreage and I humped in some large birdhouses over a half-mile through tall brush just to have them shot, so I know how you feel.
It's not just shotgunners though, one of my birdhouses still had a broadhead stuck in it from some archer.
These are NOT sportsmen or hunters, these are just a-holes.

Does anyone actually do this (as talked about in the faqs)? I never heard about FRS radios before.
Do you have an FRS channel to find out if other Geocachers are in the area?
Yes. The community has decided on channel 2 as the primary and 12 as the alternate FRS (Family Radio Service) channel. FRS radios are longer distance walkie talkies, like the Motorola Talkabout.

This is a cache I will probably visit when I'm in the area and I plan to leave a little credit-card sized magnet with an angel on it.
I think this would be in keeping with the 'spirit' of the cache.
If I was offended for some obscure reason that someone would place a cache like this on our site - I simply wouldn't go to it but I sure wouldn't harm it in any way or tell them to remove it. Notice that this cache is set up for many beliefs as long as you don't slam someone else's.
If someone wanted a Nazi cache and posted it as such then so be it, it just would be on my 'don't waste my time' list.

Why remove a joke that I'm sure wasn't too off the wall just because someone might have taken offense to it?
This is beginning to be a little pet peeve of mine. So what if some 'one' is offended? You can't please everybody.
I'm old enough to remember the magazine 'The National Lampoon' and I always said that I don't care how open-minded you were, something in that magazine was going to offend you!
You don't have the right 'not to be offended'.

I was recently trying to find a cache and I could get within 5-6 hundred feet of it on a road but there was no where to park - except an expressway or industrial park with businesses.
Now the cache site said 'no reason to trespass, just park at the school'. I drove around this area, making u-turns after u-turns but nowhere did I spot any school.
I suspect the cache owner knew the area so well, he just figured everyone would know what school he was talking about and where it was.
I posted a no-find and asked on his site if he could post the co-ordinates of the school's parking lot but I never did get a response and I'm not going to disrespect the business owners and park in their lots!

I agree with everyone wanting to keep this family oriented and let's at least stop using the euphemism of 'adult only' when we really mean 'sex oriented'! (little pet peeve of mine)
After all, an adult oriented cache could mean good wine lists or restaurant certificates or interesting books for examples.

I'm one of the tiny minority who says do not suspend locationless.
I do like the idea of handling locationless more like benchmarks instead of as a normal cache and I admit I did log one locationless. I find it to be an interesting concept and a good excuse to keep a camera and gps with me in my travels.
It's a great way to say "Hey! That'd be a good picture for ............ locationless cache."
I didn't see any mention that they're causing any real problems but of course, I don't know the behind the scenes effort to keep track of them.

I was working on some coordinates and wanted to see what was on the other side of the earth....
(that is to say my latitude was flipped (N-S) and my longitude was 180deg offset)
Generally speaking, I'm sure there's exceptions, but the other side of the world is empty - only water. This seems to be true no matter where you are, including the poles! (Anarctic has land, North Pole does not)
If you have a transparent globe, it is really visible. Even Australia has a nice ocean oposite to it - (the North Atlantic) and just about the right size.
Just wondered if all you more educated geocachers have noticed this.

Not that it's all that important, but isn't it against the law to duplicate the official treasury seal on a bill in any form?
That's why you'll see in most advertisements, the seal is partially obscured with something else.
