  1. Thanks, kü There was me thinking it would be a simple case of 'Choose file' > Click > There it is, ready to post. I'll have a play around with it when I have more time. MrsB
  2. I'm missing something re posting photographs here... The Attachments 'Choose File' link will choose a file from my laptop but won't upload it... So then I thought I'd share a photo from my Flickr albums... but the Flickr link doesn't seem to upload either. What am I doing wrong? (The wood anemone photo I uploaded in my previous post I did the old-fashioned way i.e. I uploaded to a cache log before I shared it here.) MrsB
  3. Haha! Buckeyes = Horse Chestnut conkers over here in UK. Used to be a popular childhood game until schools started banning them for "Health & Safety" reasons.
  4. WhaT do you call this one, please? I don't think we have it in UK. MrsB The common name is Bluebells. Mertensia longiflora. Thanks. They're different from British bluebells.
  5. Carpets of wood anemones in UK woodlands at present. Bluebells coming soon.
  6. WhaT do you call this one, please? I don't think we have it in UK. MrsB
  7. A nice idea but you'll probably reach many more UK geocachers if you post your thoughts on one of the many UK geocaching groups on facebook. Very few UK geocachers look at this forum these days. MrsB
  8. Double check that you're not mis-reading 0/O, 2/Z, 3/8 etc - some of those tracking numbers can be hard to read. Once you've done so and they're still coming up as unactivated then have a look back through logs on the cache where you found them to see whether anyone mentions dropping off their own trackable to start moving - Some very new geocachers don't realise that they have to activate a new trackable to their geocaching account before starting it off on their journey. If you do notice such a comment it would be kind to email them and explain what they need to do. If none of the above apply then, yes, you can activate the trackable for your own use - Perhaps someone who's no longer interested had some unactivated trackables and decided to drop them into local caches for other cachers to find. You'll need to get the individual activation codes from this link: http://www.geocaching.com/track/ActivationCodeRetrieve.aspx MrsB
  9. Yep, the "FTF" has uploaded a photo which confirms it was an April Fools joke. Kougarok remains unfound. Yawn. Not all that funny, more disappointing, I'd say. Ah well. Move along. Nothing to see here... MrsB
  10. *Big cheer* Do I get FTC? Kougarok found I'm hoping this wasn't an April Fool! MrsB
  11. Yes, I agree with your point. It would be helpful. MrsB
  12. I thought I saw where reviewers are supposed to be removing these restrictions before a cache is published. I just can't seem to get a TB to move because I don't already HAVE one to "trade." I don't get it.... Yes, reviewers are supposed to remove such restrictions before publishing caches but sometimes they accidentally miss them and sometimes the restriction is added back in by the CO after publication. If you come across these restrictions on any so-called "TB Hotel" please email the publishing reviewer to state your concern. MrsB
  13. I don't know if you can do it on the New Search (haven't played around with it yet) but I just do it from here: http://www.geocaching.com/find/default.aspx MrsB
  14. Once you've created your cache page, ticked the boxes, and clicked to save it, you should see something like this under the title of your cache: Click 'View geocache'... That will take you to a view of what your proposed cache page looks like at this stage. At the top it has: Click 'Edit listing' to do just that. MrsB
  15. As you say it has it's own page on geocaching.com, please could you give us the link to that page? MrsB
  16. No, there are no specific rules for how you organise a team using one geocaching account. If you want, you can have one member in each continent finding caches there and all logging them to the "team" account. It would be unusual, and those who consider numbers of finds important might well mutter and complain about it, but no one will stop you because there are no written rules of How You Must Do It. MrsB
  17. It's great that you do this. I would like to do this too. Please can I apply to be an official Trackable Terminator? I would happily spend some time each evening eating pizza (as I am at present) and looking through UK caches to find those ghost trackables and releasing them from their limbo state to float off into "Unknown Location". I don't want any Reviewer Powers, just Trackable Exorcism powers. Please? MrsB
  18. That's a beauty. I was watching two of them up for sale on Ebay over the last couple of weeks... Went for tidy money. We went to a Pi Day event at a cafe on the side of a rather cold Welsh mountain... They didn't do pies but they did do large mugs of hot tea, fortunately! MrsB
  19. Other places you might like to look for UK events: The GAGB Events Calendar and Project Geocaching interactive map (and list) of UK events. MrsB
  20. Me too. Today, on the Geocaching facebook page Groundspeak have a post which starts, "Didya know... you can search for nearby Geocoins on Geocaching.com?" Guess what? One comment - "Which would be fine if 90% of the trackables listed in caches wereactually there" has already got 24 'likes'. MrsB
  21. Good news indeed, Mr Dolphin! MrsB
  22. When you say "logging the same item 3 days later" do you mean they logged a discovery on it? If so, that's fine. But if it's something stranger than that maybe you could give us a link to the TB page so we can see what happened exactly. "Does anyone investigate these obvious queries?" No, it's down to the trackable's owner to keep an eye on the logs their item is receiving. Groundspeak rarely investigate unless some gross misuse of the website is involved. MrsB
  23. Thanks, will have a look later. I know two or three of ours have been out 10+ years. MrsB
  24. For a little pleasant browsing... Caches withing 40 miles of Fort William, listed by favourite points awarded. MrsB
  25. As you appear to be based in Guisborough, UK, the information in the UK Geocaching Wiki will be helpful when you're really ready to place your first cache. UK Geocaching Wiki MrsB
