  1. "filter finds" is new since this thread started, IIRC [This message was edited by plaid-dragon on June 20, 2003 at 05:42 AM.]

  3. I get Clarityn on prescription - works out at whatever the current prescription fee is (~£6.80) for a months supply (28 tablets) rather than £5 for 7 tablets which is what I paid when I had to buy it over the counter.
  4. Ooh, I don't like the new "nearest from home coordintates" page. Instead of the old, sensible system of leaving caches already found (and caches archived or unavailable) at the bottom of the page, it has them all bundled in together. This makes it much harder to use, IMHO. On the plus side, the greater level of information shown on the same page is helpful.
  5. Last holiday I took I planned the holiday and took my GPSr in case there were any caches in the area. The next holiday I have planned in centred on going to the Winchester Cache Bash, with plans to spend the rest of the week caching in the area, so that holiday is entirely geocaching based.
  6. Oh, those bears are so cute. I will have to find time to trawl southern caches.
  7. Comments on Legend: thanks. Any opinion on how it compares to Magellen Meridian? It seems innovations are offering the meridian for very little more than the Legend.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Chris n Maria:_decide for yourself..._ Is she the test card girl? *ROFL* *wipes eyes* Oh, that is priceless, thank you. I have linked the image from my livejournal - hope you don't mind.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Pharisee: I have enough trouble deciding what are roads, rivers, canals etc on the little screen on my Legend as it is. If it was cluttered up even more with contour lines it'd be very nearly un-useable. Without wanting to hi-jack the topic - Pharisee: Would you judge it to be worth upgrading from the yellow etrex to the Legend for the map function, given that you say it is very cluttered?
  10. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/ Annual membership £34 for individual (or individual life membership for £805). There are reduced rates for additional members registered at the same address, and family rates.
  11. quote: Plaid-Dragon, from your avatar, did you used to be the girl on the old BBC testcard? *laugh* No, that's just me. Photo snapped by Friendly Flyer when I was concentrating on the food in hand!
  12. Thanks all, have contacted Garmin. They suggested a simple fix of sticking some foam under the battery contact to make it a snugger fit (apparently manufacturers keep changing the size of their batteries!), and to send it to them if that doesn't work. Again, they did not seem worried about it not being under warranty and said it probably wouldn't cost anything/much. Cheers again.
  13. Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem with my Garmin etrex. It keeps switching itself off when it receives the gentlest of knocks. This includes the knocks it gets swinging around while wearing it around my neck on a lariat, as well as the times I forget I'm wearing it and clunk it on a fence. Any suggestions what I can do to remedy this? It's obviously not very useful to have to stop every now and then, turn it back on and wait while it refinds satellite. (Suggestions along the lines of "Its knackered, get a new one" are not what I'm after!) Thanks. Jessica.
  14. I am considering taking some leave in the area, starting with this event, and doing as many of the local caches as possible in the few days following. You mentioned camping for people helping out? Oh, and would my dog also be welcome?
  15. Can't volunteer to help out, not being local, but Wow, what a superb idea! I look forward to seeing this one go live!
  16. I take my cavalier king charles spaniel (Misty) with me most of the time. I also log her (as MistyDog) into the cache log when she has accompanied me. She struggles with some of the caches hidden in heavy undergrowth as she is so low-slung. Also, whenever I find a cache, she tries to climb onto my lap and get at the log book or into the cache. One of these day.....
  17. Log one more UK based cacher! Find the plaid-dragon weyred in the Cambridge area. Fairly new to caching, been going about 6 months/20 found. Friendly really, just don't have time to keep up with the forums (I got 23 pages of them listed under the UK grouping!).b
