  1. I don't quite understand what your saying? You've done a search, and there are archived and disabled caches in the results?
  2. I have no problem being a Beta-tester. (As long as it doesn't interfere with caching itself.) I think it's a good thing to test new things to see if "us" cachers like them.
  3. Shame, shame, they would freak if they knew you did that. At least I had permission to use mine.
  4. The longest period of time I have went without a find was 300 days. My grandma passed away during that time, and it took my father and I some time before getting back out on the trails. We started in July of 02, we didn't find a cache from August 11th 02 - June 6th 03. We finally decided that caching was a way to bond together and cope with our loss. We have been caching ever since and we love it!
  5. Shouldn't the reviewer have stepped in and checked on the status of the cache after it had been temporarily disabled for so long?
  6. The tin can of the aircraft really toyed with the signal. The Lowrance doesn't have very good reception anways. The pilot gave the Ok for me to turn on the unit. He said it wouldn't cause any troubles.
  7. We used our reciever on AA and United. We asked the attendant, she asked the Pilot (The person you need to ask! - For future references!), and he said it's fine. Check out the picture I took of the GPSr while in flight. Pretty cool aye? Edited to clarify coords at time of picture. N 37 53.742 W 086 35.098 This location is over the Ohio River near Owensboro, KY shorty after taking off from Louisville International Airport.
  8. Usually I just average the position with the GPSr. The Garmin 76CSx has terrific reception!
  9. Man... If I had a quarter for every time I have seen this topic come up. I say.. Why? Why are you so concerned about a nano? If it is indeed a nano you are searching for, 1. It's probably going to be a little tricky. 2. Possibly not a P&G. Use the "Other" option for the cache size if it bugs you so bad. IMHO a nano cache container is indeed a "micro" (there is only room for a log "strip"). It will be more trouble than it's worth. What's next, a category for a Bison Tube?
  10. Why not just use the size "Other"??? That way, if it is a crafty "evil" hide you wouldn't come right out and say, "It's a nano container!" I like a good challenge, some nano caches prove to be quite difficult. Personally I'm going to vote no to this proposal. I still say use the "Other" option.
  11. I'm not sure, I mean I guess I could go either way. If for some reason you needed to know where a cacher was from?? Why not just email the cacher and ask what city/ town he/ she lives in?? But then again, you do have a spot for Location on your profile!
  12. I agree! It's fun to be part of the process! Sign me up to be a beat-tester! My kid gets like $100/hr for this stuff. When do our checks get mailed? Are they hiring there??
  13. You mean like this? Bandit along the hike while placing (Bad Branch Falls Earthcache). This is Bandit, our Geo-dog. When he is present with us on caching trips, we take lots of pictures. If I want to post a picture of the dog along with my log, I will do so.
  14. I would say they are trying to work the kinks out of it. The font, etc.
  15. I think I will send an email today. I can't believe we haven't heard anything. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to fix. Just a little alteration.
  16. I sent off an email to the big man himself yesterday. Lets Hope at least you and I see this in our profiles as test subjects. Wouldn't that be nice. Become guinea pigs for new things at Groundspeak. That'd be nice. Ohh and on another note... This is my 100th post to the forums...! The Steaks Have you heard anything back from your email??
  17. Exactly! Thats what I'm saying! I really love the new Geocaching Google Maps, they are terrific!
  18. I totally disagree to this. IMHO this is cheating. If the cache owner has worked hard enough to hide a cache that it rather challenging, then he deserves the right to tell you where it is or not. Besides, if it seems hard, look at the difficulty of the cache. If it appears to be hidden in a location around "shrubs, flowers etc." then the cache description would be where he/ she needs to say "Do not tear through the landscaping!". The hint is designed to assist you in finding the cache, not to tell you exactly where it is. The only way I would go for this would be an opt out feature.
  19. We have a small club in eastern Kentucky you might want to add to the list. The Big Sandy Area Geocachers The Big Sandy Area Geocachers site was started by EKYHunter. The club consists of +/- 40 cachers. (Ranging from eastern Kentucky, southwest Virginia and Northern Tennessee. So far, we have held 8 events (Under the BSAG name) and 1 C.I.T.O. Event. We have plans to Adopt a Highway. Our members have hidden over 750 caches in the area. One of our members, JumpinJackCache has created a great audio piece which aired on a local radio station concerning Geocaching. Check it out. There’s cache in them there hills! We are a small club, but we feel it has been a great success.
  20. I love caching in Shelbyville! My aunt lives in Lagrange. I will grab it the next time I'm in the area.
  21. I can see it now, as soon as I log a , my log will no longer exist. Seriously though, I wouldn't want to bash a cache that someone else took their time to go and hide. (Even though it may be under a lightpole.) Keep it fun.
