  1. I haven't put my 500 down since I got it and I've noticed that the basemap is mostly close. In general terms it gives a pretty good indication, but I wouldn't use it to get myself out of a sticky situation. I've also noticed that it moves around quite a bit.

I will learn to live with it for now until I can take a second loan out on the car to buy the Topo software.

  2. I just replaced my 10 year old Magellan 2000XL with the eXplorist 500LE. I'm extremely impressed with this unit. I like the battery clip and it seems to be working quite well with the Duracell rechargeables that I have in there now. I will be keeping some spares and old faithful handy though...for the first little while anyways. I may or mat not opt for the Li-ion cell. The receiver came with a coupon for the battery but who knows if it is still valid.

  3. I make goals for myself. Things I'd like to acheive in my lifetime. Geocaching has become one of those, in that, the adventures that we take planning and executing caches are building lasting memories for all of us. I hope that I can pass this down to my child(ren).

  4. Caching is the best way to get out of the house and do something different with your existence. Each one is a new challenge (mostly) and there is always something new to see and do.

I don't intend to grow old sitting on a couch, farting, and singing commercial jingles!

  5. I think this is an excelent offer and I am sure some local Niagara Cachers could be found to tag along!

If you feel like driving my wife and I are off geocaching this weekend in Niagara

You could do the interview and tag along...

    Let me know...

    To whom it may concern,

Livebait.tv is interested in doing an interview about geo-caching in and around Toronto. I would to speak to anyone who could tell us more about what geo-caching is and take us on a geo-caching adventure.

Let me tell you about the other interviews we have going on so you can appreciate this opportunity. We just interviewed Champion and taped the live performance at Lee’s Palace. DJ Champion has a number one hit in Canada called “No Heaven”. He was the highlight at this year’s CASBY awards. Much Music is airing our video tonight.

We also taped an interview with Bruce Mau, a world-renowned designer talking about his recent article in The Walrus magazine about “Optimism”.

I don’t know if you have had the chance to look at our site, www.livebait.tv. However, we are getting national and international exposure and I would like to run a story on geo-caching.

Please feel free to contact me so we can get this setup right away.

    Thanks again.

There are a lot of great spots around the Barrie area if you're interested.

  6. Does anyone have any information on benchmarks within Canada? I've tried to look them up countless times to no avail. I know they're logged, but I can only assume that they're not logged on Groundspeak.

If this is the case, then I would be interested in any Geocachers in the Barrie, Ontario area possibly logging in some of these/creating benchmark caches. I know from experience that benchmarks are not only interesting, but in some pretty interesting spots.

    Cheers,

  7. Does anyone know if there is a CITO event planned for the Petawawa/Pembroke area for 22 April?

I think this would be a fantastic idea and would love to co-helm the adventure if there are any interested parties. Please get a hold of me through these means if any of you are interested so that planning can begin and we can get it posted.

Two weeks to go, we can pull this off.

    Cheers,
