  1. hard to understand why they would do such a thing kidna sounds like city government though
  2. I used to be a firefighter EMT here locally. I have been to many gang fights drive bys and such, when other gang members shoot each other we called it an occupational hazard........But when a group of punks beat up an elderly lady and leave her for dead in her bath room just because she was an easy target that makes me mad......she called 911 by the time they were their it was over and I had an 85 year old woman in the form of gowned beef she was lucky to live. How different would it have been if when the first punk walked into her bedroom and was met by her personal 911? I doubt that any one can argue that point... most street thugs won't even try if they see a gun they turn tail and disappear. The police are in the business of "law enforcement" not prevention they can only do their job after the crime has been committed. As a firefighter I work close with cops and they seem to agree with me for the most part you have to do your part to protect your self they carry guns for their protection from criminals not to protect YOU from crime and it's unrealistic to think that we can all have a police officer standing behind/next to us 24-7 and for those of us who carry guns....I'm not sure what the rest of y'all think that we are all redneck or malitia members or something, I will probably never touch my gun on a trail but I know that it's their if I ever need it just like your cell phone waiting for 911. I think like I said yesterday you people will always be out their, afraid of guns and others who use them legally. Oh well enough said

  4. quote: I forgot to mention that if I were to go caching in an area where there were dangerous animals, I would carry a weapon, but not a gun. Maybe a bat or something So let me see. Animals are dangerous, but not people. And using a weapon is OK, just not "THAT" weapon. Interesting... very interesting. At what point is it no longer OK to defend yourself? Thanks for helping make the point.
  5. A weapon is a tool "be it a firearm, pepper spray, a stick, or a rock” we all use tools every day. We use our gps to find the cash and maybe some of us still use it to find our way home after we get so lost that your toy saves your life, weapons we used much the same they were fist used to preserve life "a rock over the head of a sabertooth tiger" in short you use your gps to get there.......you use your weapon to get back safe. We all hope we never need this tool because everyone knows the outcome when we do but better them than me. As I site here in front of the computer I am thankful that we can talk openly about this stuff with out fear. I am happy to see so may folks ready to do what it takes to take care of them selves, "makes me feel safer" Sorry I ran a little long and maybe too much politics for a gps page but I am 2 months from leaving for basic training, my father spent 20 years in the army and is a veteran of the gulf war, it's kinda important to me if only for what he and others have done for this country, but that just one of many reasons. It's clear to me from a few of the post that not enough folks understand what the majority of us are talking about. But that is not something we can change tonight or any night their will always be those people around, but that is just the same. All I can say is we few who understand what it means to carry a weapon just in case, to stand by what we believe and not lose another inch. It's like with the fire service "a few protecting the many" Once again sorry for the politics and thank you to all the vets out their you have all my respect if were not for you the world would be a different place.
  6. we once hade a scenario out here in west texas in and around an old militert housing complex "i was too poor to afford a gps unit at the time I spent all my money on my cocker" thier was a gentalman thier who used a gps unit to mark all the strong holds and troop depo's and such and after dark it came in verry useful. His unit took a few hits "from paint and impacts with stationary object the same" it never quit so I think it would be a blast
