How do I un- archive a cache
JasonW replied to The Northumbrian's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Drop Jeremy a line - he can do it for definite - not sure if other cache approvers can do it or not. ----8<--------8<---CUT-HERE---8<--------8<---- -

If you want to use it with a compass (a good idea) and don't want to do mental arithmetic all the time, set the North to "Magenetic". If you're using it with a map then you should set it appropriately to the map. ----8<--------8<---CUT-HERE---8<--------8<----

Just the 3 today to get me to an even 100.... thought about doing another couple , but then thought of a hot bath and after spending the whole day out in horizontal rain & gale force winds (yup I did a Walker Dan Cache ) the bath was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more appealing ----8<--------8<---CUT-HERE---8<--------8<----

Well I suppose it would do in the absence of food, if you'd already eaten your shoe soles ----8<--------8<---CUT-HERE---8<--------8<----

Using a GPS as suspicious activity?
JasonW replied to dylanhayes's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
In recent years the original `golfball' radars have been replaced by a solid-state phased-array radar (SSPAR), built by Raytheon. This radar consists of a three-sided truncated pyramid about 120 feet high. Each face is about 84ft across and contains an array of 2,560 transmit/receive modules each with a circularly-polarised `Pawsey stub' antenna. Each module produces a transmitter power of 340 Watts and this gives an overall mean power output from the three faces of 2.5 Megawatts - a very similar performance to the old golfballs. The new radar has the same 3000 mile range as the old one. It was declared operational on 1st October 1992. But anyway - it's not like you needed a map to find the Fylingdales golfballs before that anyway.... you could see them for miles - and from the air without too much trouble, and I don't expect that there was an OS agent in Moscow anyway. ----8<--------8<---CUT-HERE---8<--------8<---- -
