  3. Good idea, 'o lord! My skills are ferior!
  4. Check it, yo! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=84482 The official page. My skills are ferior!
  5. quote:Originally posted by Chris&Cindy:Is there a prize for the person who eats the most wings? Or you can do a prize for whoever can drink a cup of their hottest hot sauce. You don't want to drink their hottest wing sauce. My fiance got a small cup of it just to try it... she had just a little bit on the end of a knife and she was lit up for hours. Oh did I mention that she was a good ol Louisiana girl? 2 words... Habanero extract. My skills are ferior!
  6. Yo... I just have to get the coords and everything will be (in the eloquent words of the West Nile 7) crunk like some Crumpy's hotwings. I'm going to set it up for Tuesday (sorry Sunday folks) August 19th at Buffalo Wild Wings on Hwy 64. They have $0.30 all you can eat wings on Tuesdays, not to mention 12 sauces to pick from. We'll meet there at or around 7:00PM if that is good for everyone. My skills are ferior!
  7. Ughh.... guys... If I give you my coords can someone come pick the tree up off of my legs? I'd appreciate it. Anyone see the humongous tree that was down between Graham and Walnut Grove on Goodlet? OMG! The base of the tree (roots and dirt) stood about 10 feet tall with the tree laying down across Goodlet blocking 3 lanes of traffic. I also made the mistake of trying to drive down Callis Cutoff... you can get by, but there are major blockages. My skills are ferior!
  8. quote:Originally posted by logscaler:And an equal disservice suggesting that the Magellan units where the problem to start this thread in the first place. Ok... apparently you didn't get what I was saying. I was not attacking the Magellans. I was saying that when I went on a hunt with my Garmin, if it was placed by someone with a Magellan I would be pointed in a different direction. I would expect that if the tables were turned and I had a Magellan and went on a hunt for a cache placed with a Garmin I would have the same problem. In fact there are people in my area with Magellans that report that very issue. So quit taking a comment I made about a little electronic device so personally. The truth is that in theory they should be exactly the same, but apparently they're not (at the very least they are not in Memphis). The units have different software and different hardware. This could account for a difference in the way that location is caculated within the unit itself, and maybe just in this part of the country. Who knows? I was reporting on an issue that I and many others have talked about. If you are not having the problem, great! I'm glad that you are not dealing with the same thing that I am. So, I'd appreciate it if you would stop this mindless "mine is better" or "don't dis mine" banter. Gee! My skills are ferior!
  9. quote:Originally posted by Marky:The anonymous rating info would be too easily abused, and the log comments already let the hider know whether people like a particular cache or not. I don't really see the value of it being anonymous. It would not allow anyone to post... just people who had visited the cache. If it is anonymous it allows a cacher to report how he/she feels about the cache without worrying about the cache placer having hard feelings towards them personally. As for the whole thing about how this turned into a Garmin vs. Magellan thing. I don't care what you use to find a cache, I am just stating an issue that I have run into. A number of people in this area have reported the same issue. My skills are ferior!
  10. quote:Originally posted by cachew nut:These units tend to have trouble under tree cover. Unfortunately most new geocachers do not do their homework before buying the GPS. Instead, they ask others which one is better. You get what you pay for. True but the fact of the matter is that people do hunt with Garmin units. I tend not to have the same issues with caches that are placed with Garmin units that I do with the ones with Magellans, and that includes in the woods. It would be nice to know in advance if I should expect this variance or not. My skills are ferior!
  11. quote:Originally posted by Cornix:Can you explain this a little bit more??? Sounds weird to me ... I got together with a few other geocachers this past weekend and we were talking about how in many cases if someone places a cache with a Magellan and you are looking for it with a Garmin the waypoint tends to point you quite a distance away from the cache. When I know that someone placed it with a Magellan I tend to widen my search. My skills are ferior!
  12. I was wondering if it would be possible to add a selection to the search page so that one could filter a search if they were only looking for micros or only full sized boxes in the area. We have a lot of micros in the Memphis area and it would be nice to filter those out when I am looking to place a Travel Bug. The other suggestion I have is to add a field on the "Report a New Cache" page where you would have to enter the type of GPS you used to place the cache. I have a Garmin unit and in cases where I know a user placed their cache with a Magellan I go in knowing that I will need to search a little bit further (in some cases 75-100 ft) from where my GPS points me. My final suggestion is that when logging a cache find it would be nice if there was a way to anonymously rate the cache, perhaps on a scale of 1 to 5. This would help cache owners know what the cacher hunters like and don’t like so that in the future they know what to place and what not to place. It helps the cache hunters by giving them a voice to tell not only the cache owner how much they enjoyed or disliked a cache but also to tell the cache approvers and admin whether or not a cache should be in that area. Since the cache approvers obviously cannot go to each cache in advance of approving it is hard to gauge whether or not a cache is in a less than appropriate place. This would allow the people that actually go to the site a chance to report back on the placement. Thanks for your consideration, Blodlizrd My skills are ferior!
  13. Sorry, guys. It was clear that what ever Geomuggle found this one was intent on destroying it instead of leaving it alone. I have a feeling that they will be back, so I'd rather not play trash man again. My skills are ferior!
  14. You don't know who I got E-mail verification from though, Chuckers. 3 new hints on the page. "But Blod, you only went to 2 caches over the weekend," you say? It just got a little harder. I guess you'll actually have to decode some hints. My skills are ferior!
  15. Thanks to everyone who came. We'll have to do some more group caching again in the future. My skills are ferior!
  16. Tis a sad day when you have to archive your first cache. Especially one with such history as the C&N cache. The first cache I placed, the first cache where the West Nile 7 showed up, even CWL's first cache found. Almost a year to the day in which I placed this cache also. (Placed on 7/11/02... archived 7/13/03) The geomuggles got to it and strowed it all around the area. I picked up what was left and headed out with the cache. Good thing I didn't put a Buddha in it a few weeks ago like I was planning. I will save the logs for prosperity. My skills are ferior!
  17. This is an open invitation to anyone who would like to attempt Soup Nazi's DVD Cache with us on Sunday July 13th (As of this posting that is tomorrow). After Chucky's no find, Soup wants to go out to make sure the cache is still there/help Chuckers find it. Chucky is going to be out there and if anyone else would like to come please be at the park by 9:00am as that is when we are starting the hunt. My skills are ferior!
  18. I'm organizing a geomeeting for the Memphis area and was wondering when would be the best time for a gathering? I'm leaving off Saturday due to my work schedule. (Please only vote if you are thinking about coming.) My skills are ferior!
  19. I'm going to post another thread that has a poll so that we can figure out what the best time is for everyone... We'll continue the conversation about this meeting over there. My skills are ferior!
  20. Dec? Maybe I caused a little confusion. This discussion was from 6 or 7 months ago, I started thinking about hot wings, and instead of making a new discussion I just bumped this one. I'm thinking more like a day this month (July). My skills are ferior!
  21. I think it's about time to have another gathering here in Memphis, and maybe I'll actually be able to come. I like the idea of the Hot Wings cache... and since it's been about 6 months, how about making it a bi-annual event? Anyone else up for it? Since Bit did the first one, I figure it is only fair to give him first shot at organizing this one too. My skills are ferior!
  22. Yeah, C&C Music Factory, it would be pretty cool to have the web app... I haven't found a good app for it though. On one hand I want to have an easy interface, but on the other I want the options and flexability that MIRC offers. (If it's my cake why can't I eat it too?) For the time being, if anyone needs help getting on DalNet through MIRC feel free to e-mail me or AOL IM me. My SN is Blodlizrd. P.S.: I know that C&C Music Factory joke was kinda lame, but somebody had to say it. My skills are ferior!

  24. quote: Originally posted by CWL:Yea, I'm getting the same error as Cactusjeep using MIRC. That's probably the most common error when it comes to IRC. I think that there are web based applets out there that allow people to connect to a chat. If that is the case, then I will set up a web site that you peeps can go to. Maybe that will get you past the firewall, Chuckers. The Man's always tryin to keep us down with all those firewalls and stuff. Edit: I was playing around with Trillian and it looks like you have to be on the global.mo.us.dal.net server for the chat room to work correctly. I don't think that this is true for MIRC... but I could be wrong. My skills are ferior! [This message was edited by Blodlizrd on July 08, 2003 at 08:08 AM.]
