  1. Where is this fabulous ignore button that you speak of? I see the ignore listing on the geocache pages but not ignore user or something like that.
  2. So I went out yesterday to get a new find that popped up on my notification email. When I get there, I realize the hide is inside of a developers land that has already been graded and ready for construction. There is a bright red "NO TRESPASSING" sign on the way in. So I come home, post a "Needs Archived" log with my findings. The log is immediately deleted by the owner and I get an email basically stating that, "well, almost all dirt lots will have a no trespassing sign somewhere and they aren't going to build in that area for a while etc etc etc. I then forwarded this information to the reviewer and they promptly archived the cache. That's the good news. The bad news is I went on this persons other hides and realized that out of 15 traditional caches, 8 of them have been archived for lack of maintenance issues. (and now one for private property) the 16th cache is a multi-cache and has not been archived. So my question for the much more seasoned amongst us is, do you make it a habit to check a hider's "rep" before you go hunt their caches? I personally will never go look for another one of this person's hides again. Not liking the diversion from the fun aspect of this game and having to deal with this type of nonsense. Edit: Archived or disabled, some have been disabled for months though.
  3. 2 of our favorite caches in Vegas use mostly PVC. Pinky Bison Wants to Be an Astronaut and Pinky Bison Wants to Be a Sub Commander. Next time you come out here check them out, I doubt you will want PVC banned after you see these. : )
  4. Email sent yesterday and received notification that a reply may be some time due to "unusually high email volume" or something along those lines. lol It's all good, I just want to give credit to some of the exceptional caches we have had the pleasure of experiencing.
  5. Updated Firefox running Adblock Plus, Ghostery, Stopscript, and Mcafee Site Advisor will change the way you look at the internet forever, it rocks! : ) If you are still loyal to IE, just download Mozilla Firefox and at least Adblock Plus and give it a run, you will love it, guaranteed. : )
  6. Fresh, first, only, original, etc etc etc : )
  7. Sending email because still no favorite credits for past finds.
  8. You will want to set up your Automotive Profile with City Navigator Active, and the TOPO off, and then you Recreational Profile with City Navigator deactivated and the TOPO Active. This is how your GPS and the maps were intended to be used. Any issues with using the TOPO maps, please post to the GPSFileDepot forum where the folk that have painstakingly created the TOPO can assist you. Perfect, thank you, that makes great sense.
  9. The version of Basecamp is the latest edition from Garmin's website as of today. I figured it out, for some reason, the Nevada Topo map won't work when the city navigator map is activated. Weird.
  10. Well, I figured it out........... : ) You have to bundle the maps at the same time. They both show up on the device now, and both are enabled, but the Nevada Topo isn't actually working for some reason? Oh well, I just really need the AZ right now anyway. SHHEEEEESSEEE!!! : )
  11. Hello community! So I am going hiking in Arizona so I downloaded the Arizona Topo map from here: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/1 I figured, while I'm at it, I'll download the Nevada Topo from the same source. Well, when I transferred them from Garmin Basecamp to my micro SD card, both maps said they were transferred with success. When I look on the Map section under setup, only the Arizona topo shows, Nevada is nowhere to be found. So I did it again, but did Nevada after Arizona, and low and behold, it shows the Nevada topo and not the Nevada. So it appears the last map sent to the SD card is taking precedence for some reason. The city navigator maps, Global, and Base maps were not effected. Did I need to bundle them so they both show up or what am I doing wrong here? Also when I view the SD card under my Computer, it doesn't even show those files on the card, only my North American street maps (Garmin file) and the Geocaches I have downloaded to the card. Thanks for any help, I know this isn't geocach related but still, someone has the answer, I just know it! : )
  12. Any chance that the initials "FTF" have special meaning to you?! I've got almost 100 finds with notta one FTF so ya', gettin' a little itchy for one that's for sure! : )
  13. Is there a way to receive notification right when a new cache is placed in a given area? Other than waiting for the pocket query to deliver the news? : )
  14. Plug your Oregon 300 onto a USB cable then open Windows Explorer. You should be able to see it as an external drive, like if you plugged in a thumb drive. Copy the two GPX files to the [Garmin_Drive]\Garmin\GPX folder. Note that the extra file contains the additional waypoints, (parking, trail head, etc), for the caches in the bigger file. They do it that way so that those that are not interested in the additional waypoint can simply not copy it to their device. This one. drop the unzipped GPX file in that folder - unhook and go caching. Thank you, it worked! : )

They do it that way so that those that are not interested in the additional waypoint can simply not copy it to their device. OK, badda bing!! : ) That was the key, dropping it into the GPX portion of the drive. Otherwise it was just sitting in there and the GPS didn't know what to do with it I guess. Working great now, thank you! : )
  16. Thanks but I tried that procedure as I described in the original post. : )
  17. So I was able to create the pocket query, then download it to a folder, unzip it, and now I can't figure out how to get it onto my GPS Device (Oregon 300 if it matters) Also, there is a waypoint file that is separate, why isn't that bundled with the other download? Can I go onto the pocket query screen that is linked in the email and just "write" them to GPS like I have done in the past. (when I was a "regular" member? read, SIMPLE!) : ) I then dragged the file into my "J" drive (mini data card attached to GPS) and it appeared that it moved it but no data transfer took place. I disconnected the device and nope, no new geocaches on the device. Thanks and if I missed this in a faq somewhere please forgive, I looked. Thank you.
  18. The upgrade was made via a PC, so we'll just wait for the next day or two and they should show up without issue. Thank you for the rapid replies! : )
  19. Just as the title and description state, we went Premium but aren't being given credit for our finds as "regular" members. Is this the standard? If so it seems like we should get credit for those finds in regard to how many favorites we can award.
  20. "none needed" is kind of funny and useless obviously
  21. I moved a trackable a little while ago and it has since been picked up by another member. They have been in possession of the trackable for over 2 weeks now. So what is the appropriate protocol for a situation like this? Let it be and let the trackable owner worry about it? I'd like to see the next spot the trackable makes it to because we sort have a little bit invested in it's travel.
  22. I always feel like when we are lifting up lamp post skirts that people will think we are going to steal the copper wire. Yes, the tweakers and crack heads that do such things are a huge problem out here. LOL
