    caching in pei

If you make it to GC1DTY7 take a walk along the beach and keep and eye out for Sea Glass. These are fragments of old bottles and jars washed ashore, makes a cool momento of your trip. I can also recommend GC1DH0D, take hwy 12 all the way to the point and from there just drive or walk around the main building and you can then follow the access road most of the way to the cache. Ammo Can...

The big thing to remember is remove the old markings or at least remove the LOT Number off, even if you paint over it. The easiest way to do this is use a light piece of sandpaper and gently rub the markings off. Binrat
  3. I am more than sure someone would be happy to take you out. I am a little far away but there are many cachers in the Golden Horseshoe. Binrat
  4. Too hot to wear pants! ( I then learned what a Chigger was) Binrat
  5. I would highly recommend the Garmin GPSMap 60Cx, a great unit and price is not too bad. Places to buy depend on location, but off the top of my head. www.radioworld.ca in Toronto www.gpscentral in Calgary www.gpscity.ca www.thechandleryonline.com in Ottawa This is a small list, but if you hunt around you will find a number of others. 6. I have found "Trucker Bombs" in highway pull-offs, that's at the top of my list. If you really want to know what a "Trucker Bomb" is then just imagine "fluid" in a 2 litre Pepsi bottle, ick. Binrat
  7. I don't think the five bucks will hurt us, I assume the money goes to maintenance and such. Binrat
  8. I think we know who will win, but I am curious how many other cachers will show up in uniform? Binrat

  10. Perfect, that makes things clearer, and I can see we follow a contour line. Yes, should have been clearer, Annette Lake Trail Head to the APE Cache. But I am curious, what are the 10 essentials? I normally pack snacks, water/gatorade mix, jacket, maybe socks, etc. Binrat
  11. Does anyone have a track log image with stats(ie elevation, etc) for the hike from the Annette Lake Trail Head? What is the average round trip time and distance from this access point? Looks like the Crazy Canuck Cachers are coming sometime in June to complete the Trifecta. Any other tips, tricks, special equipment suggestions would be appreciated. Binrat
  12. When your job tasks you with a driving task to another town many miles away and you are asked to suggest a co-driver....... You choose a smoker! Why you ask? Because the vehicle is non-smoking and you are forced to stop at pull offs and rest stops so they can have a smoke. Oh, and how coincidental, there's a Geocache at those stops. Guilty as charged, many times over. Binrat
  13. OK, this is a tough one. It has to do with "navigation". It isn't a question about navigaiton per se but it is an excersise in navigating to obtain the answer. Here is a hint, you probably need to use Google Maps to figure it out because googling won't work. If you have never seen this feature of Google Maps in use you will enjoy this question. In downtown Tokyo, at the intersection of Highway 420 and Highway 312 there is a green dump truck, it is heading north east on Highway 312 and it is right in the middle of the intersection of the two highways. What number is the four digit number on the side of the dump truck? I found the intersection but must be blind, does anyone have the co-ords? Oh, how did you know it was there? Binrat
  14. Ring-A-Ding-Ding, Wavector has got it. Lake Louise Alberta is 1534m (5033 ft) above Sea Level. Take it away Wavector. Binrat
  15. No!, but that was a clever use of old beer vats! Binrat

  17. A bit vague... do you mean town or... Banff is at 1397 m / 4582 ' asl.... on the other hand is a tourist destination an town? My hometown (now) is Elkford BC at 1300 m 4265' asl... it is a little town (community). Of course I think Rossland BC claims it is at 1023m 3356' asl. There are of course many other towns that claim to be 'highest' but not always talking elevation, eh! Doug Banff is the right Province, but wrong hotel town and a bit higher for the elevation. That was a big hint. Binrat
  18. Sigh, I really thought someone would get it. The answer was: On February 3, 1947, the record-low temperature for continental North America was recorded in Snag: −63 °C (−81.4 °F). The new question is this: What is the Highest Town in Canada?
  19. Sounds like the Pig may have an idea! Binrat
  20. Right Territory but wrong town and much colder! Now head a little further North-West. I really didn't think this would be that difficult. Binrat
  21. Further North-West. Binrat
  22. Wrong Province and MUCH colder! Binrat
  23. Since we seem to be in a bit a deep freeze lets go with that. When and where was Canada's coldest temperature recorded and how cold was it? Binrat
