  1. I saw on the news a while back of some millionare that hid caches all over the place with little jewel "bugs" worth $25000 a piece...some kid found one inside a tree at a park and was on the news
  2. Garmin's US Topo maps are based on the USGS 1:100,000 series of maps and show the same things as those paper maps in terms of roads, streams, lakes, and contour lines. Note that these are less detailed than the common 1:24000 series. But you can preview all the detail on the Garmin maps on their website using the 'MapViewer' at: http://www.garmin.com/cartography Zoom way in on a few areas with which you're familiar and use the 'More Detail' button to be sure you're seeing everything. Sweet! thats everything i was looking for in that!.....i hear it doesnt need an unlock code or something, does this mean i can buy a used copy, or burn one?
  3. one last question lol......does the topo software show all the streams and rivers on it? or is it basically just the elevation lines
  4. I'm from Birch River wv, but im going to school in fairmont. I think some of you are jeep club members as am I. User Jeepinwv has a cache at coopers rock. Check out www.jeepinwv.com we have a cache section there too
  5. Does mapsource topo show more roads too? or do they want you to have to buy the streets one for that.......im just looking for secondary roads mainly
  6. i dont know about photomaps, but google earth is free untill you want to use your gps, then you have to be a "premium member" ill check out the photomaps, thanks
  7. I just bought a Garmin Etrex Legend, and so far im very pleased with it. I previously had an older lowerance globalnav but wanted to geocache so i upgraded. anyway, ive shelled out all my money for this new unit and dont have the cash for additional software. I have the "easy gps" downloaded, but i was wondering if there are any free programs i could download instead of paying $100 for mapsource? all im really looking for is something with secondary roads listed and preferably topo features(the basemaps arnt enough). If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. sorry if this is a noob question, ive looked around and couldnt find anything that really answered my question. thanks
  8. i just got my etrex legend today and i love it, simplest gps i have ever owned....hope your having as good of luck too
