  1. Thanks, it was very fun to build and we love to leave it like this in our 'trophy' cabinet.
  2. I haven't been as active at this site as I was before, because I refound my childhood hobby of making my own lego constructions: https://rebrickable.com/users/Legoivo/mocs/ wanted to give you all a heads-up. I still want to furfill my officer duties, if I find the time. Btw the forum seems a lot more quiet than it used to be
  3. My experience is that there are a lot more people visiting waymarks instead of posting them
  4. Maybe they were premium when they got promoted, and their membership went to basic
  5. It is a shame because the original reviewer said something like this: 'wow, interesting. First wm I could approve outside the US'
  6. It's great that you want to help out with the dead categories, truly helpful. The accessibility category deserves a knowlegdable and active officer. Our game is a free game (except for the Premium costs off course) where everyone who feels like it can join a category and help out as officer. This goes for you but also for the other officer you are complaining about. I found out that when I take some extra photos just to be sure, that only helps the waymark I create. Similarely, a good long description is what I strive to create. Some categories force you to come up with some gibberish though to meet the personal 3 line requirement
  7. Now the first mentioned wm was declined as well! This makes me furious as it was a wagon road and problably older than most in America. Both of my wm were true wagon roads but had the misfortune of being outside of the USA and Canada. I would really appreciate it if this category is opened up to be worldwide!
  8. Thanks for willing to help out PISA-caching! I found this list, I think it is a great startpoint for people wanting to post in the category: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Archaeological_cultures_by_continent
  9. A while ago a wm of mine was approved: https://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/wm15YAK_Verlengde_Arnhemseweg_N224_Ede_the_Netherlands It is a former Hessenweg, a wagon trail used by German merchants in the 17th and 18th century. Today I sent in another Hessenweg, and it was bluntly denied because it isn't in the USA or Canada. To me, this seems like a category easily expanded to worldwide. USA and Canada are not the only countries which have ancient wagon roads and trails...
  10. It is a very clear description. I like that you didn't include stringent conditions, like a minimum of 3 photos or a personal 3 line sentence
  11. When I review my taken photos I try to score the most categories with them. Sometimes that means you only have 1 photo for a certain waymark or the object isn't centrally located in the photo(s). In most cases I submit it with the spirit: 'you have a no, but it can sometimes be a yes'. I strive to make good photos and blurry photos etc will get deleted. 4 out of 5 I am certain about (good photos, interesting info found) but I hope the 1/5 isn't bugging you. Thanks for reviewing so many categories
  12. The rules are the category descriptions. If a waymark conforms 100% to a category description, as in this case, it is eligable. You can off course edit the category description somehow, but I think it will be hard to write it in such a way that these can't be accepted
  13. You are right, flint mines can be posted in other categories (Don 't know of places of geological significance is the best match). I created a group; Archaeological types, feel free to join to cooperate
  14. These counters seem to me exactly 'counting and measuring displays'. So I think you are forced to accept them. Maybe go the 'thatch cottages' way: 1 wm per 0,5 miles... That way, you can prevent a tenfold waymarks in the same airport at least.
  15. Welcome! The site is a bit difficult compared to the geocaching site, so if you have any questions we like to help out
  16. This might be a good starting point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Archaeological_cultures_by_country But I also want to expand it with material culture: for example pottery (Delfts Blauw) and flint types (Grand Pressigny flint, Wommersom kwartzite).
  17. Ever heard of the Clovis culture? It's named after an archaeological site in Clovis in USA. Someone wanting to make a waymark should go to the town Clovis, make a picture of the street sign and tell us something about the Clovis culture. Here are more examples: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_site I thought about the geology side and I think that is completely covered by 'places of geologisch significance'.
  18. As you maybe know, I'm a professional archaeologist. In my trade we tend to take certain place names of archeological cultures and material traditions from the first well-published typesite location. This can be a town (Swifterbant-cultuur, Acheuleen after Saint-Acheul), a specific place (Mousterien after Le Moustier) (Hallstatt-culture after the Hallstatt saltmine). The habit is taken from geology, and in geology you have likewise names such as the Eemien (after the river Eem), Formatie van Maastricht, etc. I'm less at home with the geological side of this proposed category idea. I think it would be a cool idea to make a collection of these typesites and link a certain location to a certain archeological culture or material tradition or geological formation. It should obivously be a well-defined region or site, a whole region or country does not qualify. I think a waymarker in this idea has to make a photo of the welcome sign of a certain place and make a good desciption about the archeological or geological namesake. If a specific typesite such as an archaeological site can be reached or defined, photos of this site should be preferable. What do you all think of the idea?
  19. I know you are trying to keep dignity or adher to the forum rules but in your hints it is very obvious about who you are talking about. I get the frustration of bouncing up on the same wall, but when I myself tried to post more according to the rules of the respective categories, I got more waymarks approved
  20. I did a few posts today and I must say the site has improved mayorly! I can now just copy paste the coordinates from Google Maps and I don't have to worry about coordinate shifts. Saves a lot of time and frustations!
  21. I confess I don't read every wm i visit. Most of the time I browse the text to see if there is something interesting there. That would be hard to do with a video or audio fragment, as you don't know when in the file the mayor info can be found. I'm in favour of including videos/audios but not as the only description. Or give a link to said video
  22. Thanks for all the work, I am really happy about the scavenger hunt addition!
  23. Awesome that we can edit existing waymarks now!
