  1. duhhhhh.... I always forget that is an option! Fairly new to the phone. but not that new... sheesh. I am a premium member and logged in and the caches I have found do not show up as different icons... Is there a setting I am missing? Thank you very much. update! i found the option to "hide finds".... thx EXCEPT.... that does not seem to be working!
  2. actually ... once i select "Find Nearby Caches" ... just the list shows up. nothing in the upper right corner at all.. Help!
  3. no dang map button!!! just switch user in the upper right corner
  4. I have a droid x and downloaded the Geocaching app. I was using the c:geo and decided to get the app from geocaching... give them some money after all the work they do...! But I cannot seem to locate a map to locate nearby caches!? All I get is a list... you then need to select the nearest cache and you could be headed in the opposite direction! I am used to calling up a map and actually using it to locate nearby caches. Then I can see which direction I am headed, how many and how far all the caches are from my current location. What am I missing? thx Frank
  5. Yes ... I have img files already. But I copied one into my Garmin just to see how it operates... but don't know how to access it there now!
  6. Garmin Basecamp... ver. 3.0.2. Terrible help with the product. Help is typically written by those who use and know the software and assume everyone else knows what they know... they figure all you need to know is what the icon you are pointing to is named... rediculous. Then they use acronyms with no legend for those acronyms... what is OSM?
  7. Wow... got away cheap.. no Windows Updates. OK.. seemed to open up ok ... I have a few downloaded area maps, .img files. How do I load my .img files I downloaded into this software? Looked at Import.. nope... o wait... looks like it loaded them from my folder I had placed them in. I guess...
  8. and now I am sure I must need the birdseye feature eh? I did find basecamp... http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435 is this it?
  9. oh my.... now I might have to mess with my OS..? This is getting pretty involved...! scares me.. I just got my machine back to normal from it being a mess. Looking at downloading this right now and installing it. http://download.cnet.com/Garmin-MapSource/...53_4-14890.html what is basecamp? is it a Garmin product?
  10. gotcha Mojo... thx.. Removed the img files now and need to grab an sd micro card. Now I guess I need to locate Mapsource? Did I get it with my O200? on the disk?
  11. just realized that is just an update........ arghhhhh!!!! Where do I get Mapsource?
  12. So I download Mapsource from the Garmin site (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209) and open it up in there? Keep in mind... this is all new to me. thx
  13. Is there a particular location or folder I need to put the downloaded map files in within my GPS? I have downloaded a couple to it and not sure how to access them now!
  14. Thanks all...! I can get a Motorola 16"GB" for the same price, or less, than 8GB's. Maybe I better ask though... is all memory created equal? It's always easier to try and fill one up than run out of room and have to deal with 2 cards.
  15. Does anyone know where I might find info on The Oregon 200 and whether it takes advantage of a 16MB memory card... or if it will even work in it..!?
  16. oook.... A bit more info to chew on... thanks.. I think! Also.. Does the Oregon 200 recognize 16 GB SD cards?
  17. I downloaded the exe file into a folder on my hard drive from the ftp site... after getting the info in an email. I then ran the exe to extract all the files. It generated a folder with a bunch of files... img, tdb, and mdx. I grabbed all of those and tried to dump them into my OREgon after plugging it in and it ran out of room. I assume I need an micro SD card? OR am I even doing it correctly???

  19. If you are getting these maps from OSM, they are offering you your maps in several formats. The version that comes as an executable (*.exe file) can be loaded to the Garmin MapSource product if you like, and then to your Oregon. When you run the "program", it installs the map to MapSource. If that's what you need, download that file. If you don't feel the need to use MapSource to view the map on your PC, just download the map itself (*.img file) and slide that right over to your Garmin in the Garmin folder. Rename it to something meaningful first so you'll remember what it is. What is OSM? MapSource? I am getting these maps from the Garmin Website. I assume I download the exe. to my computer and fire it up with my Garmin hooked up. I would assume it would just dump the info to my Oregon? Whjy would I want MapSource on my PC? Just to see if it sent me everything? This is all new to me... Sorry for the rookie questions
  20. I have selected from "Free routable maps for Garmin brand GPS devices" a group of tiles and had them dowloaded to the server page... NOW WHAT? I am not a techno geek that understands "Nullsoft Scriptable Installer's" or "MapSource installer's..etc.... I just wanted to download an area around where I live to use the turn x turn feature of my new Oregon 200. Has anyone had success downloading and installing this to a Garmin? Help Please!!!? Thanks much
  21. I just got an Oregon 200 and would like to find a destination turn x turn software. I just want to be able to pop my addy in and my destination addy... I hear there are shareware maps out there. Any idea where I might look and which are the good ones? I really don't want to pay 50 or 60 bucks for the minimal use I would use it. thanks
  22. VERY Helpful all...!! This makes my decision much easier. Just needed confirmation on this unit. Does anyone know if it has the new "Chipset" in it for faster and more accurate tracking of sats?
  23. "Show off photos of your excursions with Oregon’s picture viewer." Looking at Ryan's statement as far as my statement about downloading pics. thanks!
  24. Thanks all...! Sounds like a good deal for the price. I am currently using a Garmin ETrex. Hey Ryan... you sound like you write ads! I did notice it does not have a compass, which seems a bit weird! My ETrex Legend has one... So I assume you download pics to it, because it does not have a camera. So if I have the turn by turn mapping software... I can enter coords for a cache and have it direct me to it?
