  1. FYI, In the spirit of keeping the list up to date, wsgaskins is now the owner of #049. I have enjoyed having it in my possession, and I will always treasure the memory of it and what it stands for. But it was time for the coin to move along and make another cacher just as happy as it has made me. I think that the spirit of the GSA is all about giving, so last week I passed it along to a very deserving cacher who has done a lot for both the geocaching and geocoin community. It was hard making the decision to pass it on, instead of just keeping it, but I believe that the coins are meant to be enjoyed by everyone, not just a select few. I still feel honored to have found one of these awesome coins, and I made sure to take TONS of photographs of it to keep in my scrapbook. Thanks GSA for allowing me to chaperon one of your agents for a while! You rock!
  2. I would buy a few coins if they are made.
  3. Sorry to hear about your puppy Broken W. Here's my entry... Little Bradley Falls, GC1217B and here's a few of the pics... and here she is preparing for Tube Torcher 2 a few more pics here Edited to add: She even has her own GeoTag! (sort of)
  4. I have the Dymo LabelWriter 400 and I love it! If I had the money, I probably would have bought the twin turbo model so that I could print stamps on one side, and labels on the other, but mine works just fine for both. I just have to change the label rolls if I want to make address labels or stamps. It connects to the computer via USB, and the installation was flawless. With Vista, I just plugged it in and that was it. I use the Dazzle software (from endicia) for labels, and it took a few "trial" prints to get the alignment perfect, but once it was set up the way I want it, I haven't had to touch anything. I just paste the "ship to" address in the box and choose the weight and hit print. I have used the old Avery ink jet printer labels for a while, and the Dymo makes it so much easier that it just isn't funny. I, personally, will never use inkjet labels again. Another good part is that my Dymo is dedicated for my labels, so no more setting up the ink jet to print labels and no more worrying about printer cartridges, or labels getting stuck in my printer. The Dymo is always online, just sitting there waiting for some geocoins to go out the door! The LabelWriter 400 is capable of printing labels with delivery conformation, or without. You just need to use the correct labels for what you want to print.
  5. I use a small digital scale that I bought at one of the local office supply stores. It's a pelouze brand scale and even though it was inexpensive, it is very accurate. I used to verify the weights at the post office before shipping, but I have since stopped doing that because my weights were always dead on. I have never used the PayPal shipping feature so I don't know much about that. I use the endicia postage software with a Dymo 400 label printer. The labels fit perfectly on the #000 envelopes. Just remember that if your package weighs 2.1oz, USPS considers that to be 3oz. They always round up. Edit to add: I use my setup for all mailing, not just coins. I print my own stamps for letters too. I haven't had to go to the post office in quite a while, and I do not miss it one bit.
  6. Another possible option is the scavok handmade coin. He can personalize it for you (up to 26 letters I believe) although I don't know if he could turn one around that quick.
  7. Does it have to have a certain theme or will any gecoin work?
  8. I'm still waiting for missionfish to list Skye's nonprofit. All of the paperwork has been sent in, and now the ball is in missionfish's court. I check them 3-4 times a day and just as soon as it is listed, I will resume the auctions. All coins are still on my desk, just waiting to be listed. Thanks for keeping Skye in your prayers!
  9. I used to try to keep track of who finds them by adding the caches to my watch list and hope someone mentions it. After a while it just became too much for me to keep up with. Now I rarely even think about them after I drop them. I have gotten emails in the past form folks that find my coins and thank me for leaving them, and that's always nice to see, but usually I never know where they go. I've probably left 40-50 coins in caches, the majority of them unactivated. I used to just drop them in thee, but what I do now is print a card (1/2 of a business card) and stick it in the coin flip. It says "This coin is an unactivated trade item, if you have found it, it is yours to keep, but please remember to trade even or up. -rasj" That way they automatically know it's not an activated coin and they shoud leave something behind if they take it.
  10. Awesome!! Where that "snoopy dance" icon when you need it?
  11. Well, my mojo must not be as bad as I thought, but my memory sure is. 3 of them arrived in the mail today.
  12. Awww phooey! My mojo must already be bad, because I completely missed it.
  13. Even more good news today! The non-profit created to help fund Skye's recovery is now up and running! Please visit the website and read about Skye. I think it gives more inisght into who she is as a person. I'm posting the link here in hopes that the mods let it stay since so many of you have helped Skye in so many ways. http://www.reachfortheskye.org I also want to let everyone know that there is still one more step needed before I can resume the auctions. I hope that the orginization's registration with ebay will be complete soon, and then I can get back in the swing of things. Once they register, you too can auction items and donate all or part of the proceeds directly to Skye! How cool is that? Please continue to pray for Skye as she enters her new phase of recovery. It works! It really works! Oh yeah one more thing! Be on the lookout for a post from Neil soon. He wants to personally thank everyone for all that you have done for his family. As you can imagine, his days and nights are pretty much full right now, but he wanted me to let everyone know how very much he appreciates everything you have done for Skye, and he'll be around soon to thank you all himself!
  14. I've seen it tested in the real world. When you drop it from 5 feet, the 60csx goes straight to the bottom, and doesn't come back up. Which in the case I'm talking about, It was actually better since it fell in a fairly fast moving body of water. Had it been a floater, it would have went downstream and been gone forever.
  15. Large bags for caching? ETA: I think you forgot to post the message. Or is this the internet version of calling someone's phone, and not talking when they answer?
  16. It's back up! yaaaaaaaaaaay!
  17. You forgot something... 3 to post artwork of their upcoming light bulb geocoin.
  18. Newest Update May 01, 2007 at 07:33 AM EDT Yesterday afternoon Skye's doctor signed the release forms, and Skye made the move out of Mission and into Care Partners rehabilitation center. As expected, everything related to the move went smoothly. Skye is now in her new, larger room and is preparing for her first day of rehabilitation. Today her therapists have planned to fit her with a special wheelchair that will allow them to take her to different places in the facility, and perhaps outside for some fresh air. On the improvement front, Kate said that Skye held up her leg for an extended period yesterday, and stuck her tongue out when she asked her to. Also, she said that Skye is reaching over quite a bit to lift her left arm with her right hand, almost as if she's giving herself some physical therapy on that arm. In case you were wondering. I still have several geocoins to auction. I will resume the auctions soon. Neil and Kate have set up a charity through their lawyers, to help fund Skye's rehabilitation. Skye's employer is providing the web hosting and all for it. It is almost up and running. Since eBay has canceled my auctions for violating their charity policy, I decided to wait until I could list them "legally." Hopefully by the end of this week, everything should be in place so that I can resume the auctions. As soon as Skye's website is online, I will post the link for everyone that is interested. I talked with Neil on Sunday, and he requested that I donate the money we have raised directly to Skye's fund instead of giving it to him. Per his wishes, I will be doing that just as soon as Skye's account is up and running. Paypal has a rule about only allowing $500.00 per month to be withdrawn, so it's taking a bit longer than expected to get the money out, but it will all be going to Skye's fund as soon as PayPal allows me to get my hands on it. Thanks to everyone for their continued prayers, and be on the lookout for my auctions to resume. There are still some VERY nice coins sitting here that you don't want to miss!
  19. PM me your address. I'll send you some coins.
  20. I know what you mean. But I still check the page about once an hour just to read the messages and all. Everyone here at work huddles around my desk when I pull up the page so we can all read the latest news together. We call and check on Neil usually once a day, and it's awesome to hear him back in good spirits. I don't know how much Skye will recover, and only time will tell, but I can tell you from talking with people that have a lot of experience in the field that we are seeing miracles every day, and I hope they continue until she is able to walk out of the care facility and go home. I am sure there will be one heck of a welcome home party waiting on her.
  21. I have a display rack that I keep about 40 of my favorite coins on. It's in my den in a bookcase. The GSA coins is on the front row right next to my volunteer coin. ) I also take it with me to meetings to show others how cool it is. I like the idea of assigning it a TB so that others can log it. I think I will steal that idea from you.
  22. This would be an exception to my earlier post. I would absolutely donate one for charity to help a good cause.
