  1. I just updated from an eTrex Vista that I had since 2001 to a GPSMAP60Cx, and am very happy with it. Bit bigger screen (and color) than the etrex series, auot route capable with the navigator maps. Bob
  2. I am loading maps as we speak.... well, type. Loading all V8 maps to a Sandisk 2GB through a card reader. Do start the transfer, I just clicked on upload to device, it recognized my card reader and is currently at 31% loaded with 36 minutes to go. If it doesn't load, or work when I insert the card into my 60 Cx, I will post back. BobII
  3. Hey Moon, that looks good, and very close to what I am doing now after the first couple of responses came in on my question. Had to go out after dinner and try a cahce quick to make sure it worked well. After changing the GPS setting back to being prompted on/off? road when each navigation starts.... 1. Autoroute to location on road 2. At location, hit menu, then recalculation, select offroad 3. Page to geochache/compass page, and go find it. Only tried once, but it seemed very quick and effective. I love my new 60Cx!!! Big change from my eTrex vista I bought back in 2001
  4. Well, thank you Seven and 850 both! I didn't see how recalc would help, it would just do the same thing....but then 850 stated it needed prompted for on/off road, which then made sense. I forgot you could set that promt, just got this baby this week, and had seen the prompt but don't remember turning it off. Anyway, that will get me there much faster. Someday I will leran/remember all the features! Thanks, Bob
  5. What is the quickest way to change from on road to off road navigating? In an area I don't know, I use the on road autorouting to get me close, but then want to use the geocache function to narrow in, see notes, and finish the find in off road. Otherwise it syas I have arrived at the destination, but doesn't zoom me in on the actual cache. What I do now after getting to the area is stop nav, go through the menus to change to off road nav, then start a new find, select closest cache, goto. Am I missing a shortcut in the menu navigation? Was hoping there was an easier/quicker way to accomplish. Thanks.
  6. Wow Clair, not sure I have heard of anyone having that much trouble. Hopefully you have a very unigue situation that's beyond normal.....I am sure Garmin wouldn't be the company it is if all went like that. Anyway, thanks for the info, and I hope you get up and running soon! Bob
  7. LOL, well thats what I get for putting the cart in front of the horse!! Was just excited to see the software and didn't think I needed the GPS. Thanks for the info.
  8. Thanks guys. Yea, was going to contact them, but since it is after hours and I am a little worried about it, thought I may get some quick answers from here from those who have done it. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for Amazon's slow shipping to bring me my new 60Cx, so dont have that serial number yet. Ordered the map and other accessories two days after ordering the GPS and got the accessories already.
  9. Bought CV 8 from online GPS source. Received wrapped DVD, user manual, and Mapping Unlock Certificate. These were not in what I assume would normally be in a garmin box. In reading the directions it states to enter my 25 digit code from the yellow paper that also inludes a serial number and 7 digit registration code. I don't have this. The certificate I did receive has an 8 digit alphanumeric number. The manual seems to refer to this as a Coupon Code. So.... Do I have a problem, can I obtain full benefit from this software? Thanks ahead of time, Bob
