  1. Our event is finally live. Nothing real special, might place 10 new caches for everyone to find. 10-10-10 Multi Event on The Space Coast
  2. Just curious...are there really that many people that will be traveling abroad for the event? I know it is a mega and well attended but I would not think that attendence is going to be greatly effected by having one state side and one abroad. But hey I could be wrong it has happened before
  3. Having made several coins ourselves as well as being a reseller of coins I have a different perspective than many. Everyone so far has pointed out some very good and accurate facts of the costs that go into making a coin. Until you actually sit down and start designing your coin and working through the process until you take delivery I don't think you can understand what it takes to actually have a coin made both time and financially. Now from a resellers point of view Eartha has also touched on this but here is my take. We actually have a retail location. People come in all the time and say they want to go home and open up their own geocaching store. I always try to warn them that this is not a money maker. Our full time business is the money maker and the geocaching is just what we like to do. It takes a tremendous amount of investment both in time and money to have product for people to choose from. If you are just trying to make a quick buck on the side with geocaching then your best bet is Ebay. We try to stay away from there for reputation purposes. There are some very reputable people selling coins on there but there are also plenty of others out to rip you off. Like others have said, you can usually make more money and quicker selling coins there. I have seen all of the designs we have made selling on there for more than we sell them for. I think people get caught up in the whole bidding war thing. Anyway, good luck with trying to make a little money on the side with a hobby you love. There is nothing wrong with that. Starting here and asking questions is going to help you out a lot. You will get a lot of different opinions that you can do with what you want. It is good to see what everyone has to say.
  4. Bumping this back to the top to make it easier to find. Wondering the same thing...any idea on a delivery date? I am guessing we are still a couple weeks away based on previous projects.
  5. Go to the main page at coinsandpins.com Under their main banner it says Activate, get codes, click here for geocaching activation codes. It is on the right hand side of the page. Click that and enter your tracking numbers and your codes will be given to you. Hope this helps.

  14. Looks like Orlando Florida will be pulling thier bid. We feel we need more time to get it right. So you will more than likely be hearing from Florida for 2012 or 2013.

  18. Mark...that link did not work for me.
  19. Correct me if I am wrong but the restrictions on events are for those wanting to get in on the making of the coin right? Not just anyone wanting to host an event. We are both hosting an event as well as wanting to get in on the making of the coin. We have done the last three group coin projects and looking forward to this one as well.
  20. 10. Space Coast Geocachers Merritt Island, FL
  21. The Space Coast Geocachers would love to be involved again. This will be our third year and fourth combined event coin. We have always been happy with the coin and the process. Thanks for setting this up again. So put us down for Merritt Island, FL so you have a point of referrence.
  22. Never been to Montana...I hear it is beautiful. Could be fun.
  23. Orlando is centrally located and very easy to get to from the North. Most of the theme parks are located in Central Florida as well as the Space Coast Geocachers who would be leading the charge to host this.
  24. Looks like we are gathering strength to put our bid in for it to come to Orlando, FL. We have lots of people on board already willing to help out. The Space Coast Geocachers along with other regional and state organizations will work together to try to bring this event to the SE. Stay tuned for our bid.
