  1. Love mine. I've used quite a few. 2.70/2.50 resolved most minor issues. Still the best thing going.
  2. Has anyone else noticed that the auto-routing has changed in 2.70? When you get a pop-up for a series of quick turns (e.g. left, left, right), you only get a text description for the first one. The system leaves the pop-up there until you guess through all of them. Additionally, the pop-up for a regular turn stays up much longer than it used to, busically until the pointer is all the way through the "white zone". It should go away or switch to the next description as soon as it figures out that you've executed the turn. I'd consider both of these changes very undesireable. I'd switch back to 2.60 but I don't want the altitude issues.
  3. I just noticed the post about needing the registry hack even after installing from the HD. Just wanted to add that I did not need the registry hack at all.
  4. Sorry, I was away for a few days. here is the relevant text: Hope this helps. Worked great for me. You end up with the mapsource and setup install files left over on your HD, but it's not much and you can weed them out if you like after install.
  5. Use e-mail. They give you quite detailed responses and you can do other things instead of waiting on the phone. I've been very satisfied with their e-mail support. Just include as much relavent info as you can in the request. e.g. version #'s, model #'s, serial #'s, long description of the issue or question.
  6. This link takes you to the description of how to do it with registry hacks. If you scroll up in the same thread you will see few comments on just copying all the CD's to your hard drive and installing from there. This is by far the easiest way to do it. I have an e-mail from Garmin support describing how to do this if there is interest.
  7. I have that little charger. I guess I'll be using my bigger charger as well. How did you figure this out? My batteries show fully charged in the GPSr.
  8. I never get this far. I get an immediate message indicating that the software isn't written for the device type. This is typical. I don't believe I have seen software yet that doesn't have a special version for smartphone. No touchscreen and different buttons.
  9. Wouldn't it be heck of alot easier to just have the PQ send in PDF?
  10. Nope. Doesn't work on a smartphone. So, back to the original theory. Can we get PDF added to the formats for a PQ? Thanks, Ken
  11. Thanks! I'll give it a try.
  12. Cingular 2125. It runs Windows Mobile 5.
  13. Unfortunately, I'm using a smartphone. I'd like to avoid carrying a 3rd device. GPS Sonar doesn't run on smartphone, does it?
  14. Lower end eTrex and I think the Geko's would give you cheap GPS with readable speed display. No external antenna, but that shouldn't be an issue with a decent dash mount. Buy them on eBay.
  15. I'd like to suggest that a Pocket Query be able to send you the cache descriptions in PDF in addition to Mobipocket/PRC. This shouldn't be hard to implement since generating PDF's is already part of the site functionality. While the Mobipocket tool is very nice, I don't really need it since most PDA's (including mine ) these days can handle PDF's. Further, the format and content of the PDF's from the cache pages is better and easier to read. Thoughts?
