...... Put your GPS in your pocket and look in places that you would hide a cache. Pay attention to the size of the container. Typically, the smaller the container the harder it is to find. This was the advice given to me, if you start to think where you would hide something it really helps, I also find my 8 year old son great at this

I too am new at this but what you need ( and will get quickly) is cachers eye, that uncanny ability to get as close as your GPS will allow (3m is the best I ever get) and 'know' where the hidding place is. At first I couldn't find anything without the help of my 7 year old who must have been born with the eye, but now I 'see' and caching has become a little easier
