1. Still working for me on the cache description page (drop down menu at top and map options on small map). I notice that this page is now delivered using HTTPS (like the big map page), whereas before it was HTTP. This should mean that only one settings storage area is used, so if you can access the settings page from elsewhere it will apply to the cache description page also.
2. You will probably get more response if you post on the West Midlands FB group There are lots of friendly cachers around Birmingham and many interesting places to visit.
3. Are you running the script through Tampermonkey?
4. Still working fine for me on 2 x PCs. If it was working and now isn't, could it be that your key has either a: exceeded it's usage limit or b: expired Go back to the Bing Maps Portal and check the status of your key.
5. I have had OS maps working for a few days, testing out my method to see if there were any pitfalls. So far, so good. Follow these steps to see if you can get it working also. 1) Go to Bing Maps Key and follow the instructions there to get a personal key. I got a "Basic" key as a "Trial" key only lasts 90 days. I think a Basic key gives you 50000 tiles per day but I can't be sure. If there is a usage limit, best not to share your key with anyone else. 2) Insert your key into the following string, replacing the 'xx...xx' bit. {"alt":"Ordnance Survey by Bing","tileUrl":"https://t{s}.ssl.ak.tiles.virtualearth.net/tiles/r{q}.png?g=3440&productSet=mmOS&key=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx", "subdomains": "0123", "minZoom":10, "maxZoom": 17, "attribution":"Ordnance Survey imagery from <a href='https://www.bing.com/maps/'>Bing Maps</a>", "name":"osbing"} 3) Add the above (revised) string into GME as a Custom Map source, both http (cache page) and https (big map). 4) Select OS maps from the drop down as your preferred map source.
6. On an un-rooted Nexus 7, Android file managers (like ES File Explorer) cannot 'see' USB devices, so the SD Card that you can see is only the (emulated) internal SD memory. Nexus Media Importer and a OTG cable are all that are required to transfer GPX files from internal memory to the Garmin. In NMI preferences, Advanced section, check 'enable writes' (doing next bit from memory, so allow for errors) Once GPS is connected, NMI offers a choice of USB device, one for Garmin internal memory and one for Garmin SD card. I use the Garmin SD card. Then, from the NMI menu on the left, select 'Advanced'. This gives Android file structure and the USB file structure in a split screen. Navigate to GPX file in Android download folder, press to select then choose 'Copy' from drop down in upper right corner. In other half navigate to 'GPX' folder on Garmin, then choose 'Paste' from drop down. GPX file should now appear on Garmin. Disconnect GPS and switch on to check all ok. Disclaimer: Use this procedure at your own risk as it is a bit of a hack.
7. By editing the script and changing the page url being looked for I made it work again. On version 0.6.6.2 I changed line 66 from GME_page_listing = /\/seek\/cache_details\.aspx/.test(GME_page),
to
GME_page_listing = /\/geocache\/GC/.test(GME_page),
As this is the first time I have fiddled with a regular expression it may not be 100% optimal but it works for me (on Chrome and Opera). Just don't ask me where to find the relevant .js file on your system as it varies on OS and browser.
8. How about the 'Tarka Trail' in North Devon?
9. I had the previous version working fine under XP/IE8/Trixie but now I've installed the new version, the map on the cache page is just a grey square. It works fine under W7/IE9/Trixie on another computer and also using a test install of Chrome. But my main caching computer is the one it doesn't quite work on (and can't be upgraded to IE9). The "larger map" option does show the map tiles correctly however. IE is my preferred browser, so hopefully a little tweak will get it working again? IE8 IE9
10. The same for me, seemingly due to Tuesday's update
11. After a 3 day visit to London, I noticed that there are still a large number of caches that have not been re-enabled by their owners. Some were never removed and still had finds logged during the 'lock-down' period. How long before reviewers start posting their warning notes and caches start getting archived?
12. I would suggest looking at the northern end of the Cotswold Way, Chipping Campden to Broadway to Winchcombe to Cheltenham for wonderful countryside, historical sites and some great caches as well.
13. What day will the Marathon series 'go live', is it before or after the main event?
14. Any hide where the specific location is ambiguous will possibly lead to lots of trampling and damage to the surrounding area.
15. Try operating it without the SD card. A bad connection between card and device may be the problem.
16. I would recommend Pont Melin Fach waterfalls, an earthcache on a lovely waterfall walk in S.Wales
17. See here GC11K20 (still only has ten log types though)
18. Also missing a Published icon (because it pre-dates that one)
19. Getting excited now! Thanks to Cakemaker for her post and will be sampling her cake later.
20. Had this facility for ages with the Mapit! bookmarklet which works with all browsers.
21. GPSfiledepot has a custom London Street Map for Garmins
