  1. I'm pretty sure the Garmin Map60CS and CSx have 3-axis.
  2. I don't do this myself but one of our engineers at work plotted the legal description of my 5 acre property in the country into AutoCad and then was able to overlay it onto a GIS map of the area. He was able to give me GPS coordinates for each point and corrected magnitic bearings between points as well. I knew where 7 of the 9 points were but with his work it was easy to find the other 2. Thanks to him, I now have a beautiful birdseye view of my property from about 1000 ft agl.
  3. I have in my sweaty little hands a $50 mail-in rebate form for a Map 60CS. The list www.rebatestatus.com as the place to go with problems and a phone umber of 877.776.7728
  4. Your exactly right. I live in the boonies and I'm going to Arkansas for two weeks (family reunion) and will be in the boonies again. No detail again. It sucks! Guess I'll have to rely on the GPSr and Geocache.com.
  5. Thanks for your replay, if you don't mind a few more questions. My vendor who has been in contact with Garmin tells me that there is a basemap called Americase Marine Point Basemap, ,Jan 2001 and that is exactly what it says on my GPS when I check the map setup page. The Garmin people say that they do have a basemap by that name but that it was never installed on the 60C. I went to Garmin's website and searched for it and can find it available for several unit such as the Map 76 and others but not the 60C. So is Recreational so basic that you can't select it but the Marine Point is selectable? How can I find out what is the basemap name on my unit? Is there an option to turn various features on/off like lakes grater than 5 sq miles. I really want to see the lakes in my area. Can you check you unit and see if you show a lake at 37 15.019 119 10.639.
  6. I have a Map 60C that was supposed to come with Americas Recreational basemap that is supposed to show lakes with 5 sq miles or larger. It doesn't show a few lakes in my area that I know are larger than that, but then I see some lakes that are smaller than that, mayber part of the basic basemap? I went to the map setup page and the unit says that it contains Americas Marine Point basemap, Jan 2001 with a check box that I can select. My vendor has been in contact with Garmin and is getting a major run-a-round, they say that basemap was never installed on Map 60C's. Does anybody have a Garmin unit or espically a Map 60C that has the Recreational basemap but their unit says its loaded with Marine Point basemap? Is there a way I can tell for sure what basemap I have? The Marine Point is supposed to have navigation markers but I can't seem to find any near any large water bodies like San Francisco Bay area or the Great Lakes area.
  7. This goes back some time but currently use a Magellan 4000XL! Don't laugh ... I'm finding caches. About 40 so far and only 3 DNF's. Just received a new Map60C, but it came with Americas Marine Point basemap instead of Americas Recreational, so I may be sending it back if I can't get this issue resolved through the vendor who is doing everything they can. Does anybody know if Garmin can replace the basemaps with a simple file download?
  8. Just recieved my newest GPS this evening, a Garmin GPSMap 60C. I know it is not the newest unit on the market but it had all the features I needed and it was a big step up from my old Magellan 4000XL. I've downloaded the newest garmin software for my unit but that hasn't solved my problem so I'm going out for some help On the compass page, I changed the Data Fields to show four fields; Heading, Bearing, Elevation and Dist to Dest. I created a few waypoints this evening and then tried to use that page to locate them. The problem is that the page will only display the heading and elvation, not the bearing or distance. Am I missing something in the setup or is there something wrong with the unit. Another thing, the place I bought it from said the unit included the "Americas Recrational" basemap that displays lakes with more than 5 sq miles of surface. There is a lake not far from home that I'm pretty sure has more than 5 sq miles but it does not show on the map page. When I look at the map page, it says that it is the "Americase Marine Point basemap, , Jan 2001. Does anybody know if this is the same as the "Americas Recrational" and if now, how might I make it right?
