  1. Just did a little research by virtue of another post, and seems you guys can pile an awful lot of stuff onto just the 64mb as well as multiple Map types? TOPO *and* CS, etc... Is that correct? Just trying to learn the ins and outs! LOL ST
  2. I was wondering how much data (guestimation) that my stock 64mb card hold? And is it possible to put say a "Citimap" type map onto my 60csx along with my newly acquired TOPO maps? The reason I say this, is b/c I uploaded my tracks to my brother's Garmin 276C and prior to writing it to the GPS it said "removing current mapping data" or something like that. So can you have both on the same unit concurrently? Or must one choose to be TOPO *or* CityMap? I do appologize for my ignorance. It also isn't readily obvious to me how to check the status of my memory card? I.E...30% full, etc. Is there a way to do that? TIA, ST
  3. I went to a local sporting goods store and paid too much for it, but I did get it today and was able to use it once figured out that you do not have to "unlock" my gps to upload, which was looking like a little bit of a PITA. Anyway, for now, I got done what I wanted to get done by way of uploading a current track/trail onto the TOPO and was able to upload the TOPO section and it is SWEET to be able to do that so easily! Still sucks that I spent $80 on Nat. Geo crap that you cannot upload!#$! What good is that? Thanks again, ST
  4. Thanks so much for the quick replies! I just love forums...u can get straight to the point from people who KNOW in very little time. ;-) Now off to spend another $80!!! LOL ST Like Neo_Geo said, you can't transfer NG TOPO! maps to the CSx, but you CAN transfer Garmin (Mapsource) US TOPO maps to it. They are not as detailed as the NG maps, but still helpful on hikes. If you have Mapsource US Topo, all you need to do is select the map segments you want with the map selection tool and send them to your device. If there are trails on NG TOPO! that are not shown on the Mapsource software, you can draw out the route on NG TOPO!, convert it to a GPS route and then export it to your CSx while it is connected to your CPU via USB or serial. The unit will then overlay the trail as a route on top of the Mapsource topo segments that you loaded on to it. You can also download trails from the Nat Geo MapXchange site and convert/send them to your unit using the same method. Hope that helps
  5. I just bought a Garmin 60csx, and am a bit frustrated b/c I spent $80 on a National Geographic TOPO series mapping software primarily b/c it was MAC compatible. A buddy told me I needed to get the Mapsource Topo from Garmin and use a PC to connect...since it was likely a compatibility issue. My question is this: Is it possible to transfer Topo MAPS from Garmin US TOPO software to the 60csx? I have not been able to find data saying specifically that I can. I am presuming since it is the latest and greatest from Garmin (x) series, that this is possible? I am wanting to upload detailed TOPO maps to my 60csx and be able to hit the trail. As of now, I am only able to download my tracks and waypoints and NOT uploaded anything with any TOPO DETAIL. Thanks so much, ST
