  1. I did not want the largest population in a city I wanted to know what city had the most caches in it. IE: West Bend WI has the most of Wisconsin. That kind of thing. Yes. There is clearly a misunderstanding/difugality of the misdefinitions here. Largest city?? Define that. Area or population? Define 'city'. In New Jersey, municipalities can be: borough, village, town, township or city. None of which has any bearing on reality. Largest city population is still Newark. Not a lot of caches there. Largest municipality population? I think it is Woodbridge Township. Largest municipality area? Probably Washington Township, in Burlington. (Yes. We have seven municipalities named Washington...) Not sure which 'municipality' has the most caches. Certainly not one of the largest cities. Probably not one of the largest municipalities, either area-wise or population-wise. There is a complete lack of definition here! On a interesting side note, I have caches in five of the six most densely municipalities in the US. (Municipality being described as an incorporated municipality.) Guttenberg, NJ: 58821 people per square mile Union City, NJ: 52327 People per square mile West New York, NJ: 48733 people per squar3 mile Hoboken, NJ; 39066 people per square mile Missed #5: Kaser, NY. 27788 people per square mile New York City, NY: 26593 people per square mile Definitely need to hide a cache in Cliffside Park NJ: 24577 people per square mile And East Newark, NJ: 24060 people per square mile Then I could have 8 of 9!!! Without definition, discussion is meaningless. But, I think I have a record here that no one will come close to duplicating.
  2. Is there any link to tell us what city in each state has the most geocaches in. Or a site that says where the oldest ones are in each state.
  3. I just tried to open my query but cannot do it. It says I need to buy a program to do it. How do I avoid this?
  4. ....NO WAY.... My favorite find is an Ammo Can cache! I'm sure I am NOT ALONE! I like finding ammo cans and seriously stubbing your toe? Why u wearing flip flops in the woods? flip flops on the woods??????
  5. I do it all the time, If it's dark and I need a little better lighting to sign the log If I need a firmer surface to write on the log If it's raining or snowing and I don't want the inside of the cache getting wet If traffic is high and I don't want to stand close to the road for too long If I'm adding new paper to the caches If I for some reason forget my pen in the car. On the rare occasion we're caching close enough to the car, we do the same. I do it when my 84 year old mother wants to come with and cannot make the walk. I bring it to her and take her picture with it. Makes her feel good.
  6. I looked for one in a patch of trees and the hint said "the leaning tree" They were all leaning.
  7. Sorry everyone but I will fess up to my errors. I have 2 travel bugs that have taken up residence at my house for a year. Not that I meant to do it, but I had 2 surgerys and my husband had open heart surgery. I am now getting out to do some easy ones and will put my bugs in them. So far I have found only small ones and not big enough to put a bug in it.
  8. I have a garmin Oregon 550. I am running window on my computer.
  9. More information is needed to answer your question. For starters: What GPSr are you using? What Operating System are you running on your computer? In most cases it is a pretty simple operation.
  10. I asked a person for permission to place one in the woods on their property and I was asked if they could be sued if someone got hurt. I also want to put one in the woods by my house and now I am worried about that. Does anyone know if we could get sued should someone get hurt?
  11. I am getting the hang of this and I have tried my hand at the pocket query. So happy with the routes I have found by others as well, but When I try to put on my GPS it will not work. The computer said I have to buy a program to unzip it. What am I doing wrong?
  12. How do you go about uploading a page or 3 to the gps without doing it 1 at a time. I have a Garmin Oregon 550
  13. where do I find the notifications page???
  14. How do I look up a cache that has not been found yet? Would like to try one.
  15. I am sorry, I cannot find goto. I have where to, compass and geocaches, When I go onto geocaches it does not give me the option to go to the compass.
  16. Have you loaded any caches close to "your location?" The GPS doesn't come pre-loaded with geocaches. You have to add them yourself. It should, by default, list the caches in order of distance from your location, but if you haven't picked up a signal yet, it doesn't know where you are and thus shows your last known location, which might be home. Yes, that may be the OP's issue! You need fresh batteries. Then turn the GPSr on, and place it out in the open outdoors for about 15 minutes, or until it shows the correct location. It will find the location much faster next time. Thank you for all the help. I feel very embarrassed that I forgot it had batteries. I downloaded them for different areas that I visit and by my house. Now my main problem is how to set it up to tell me how close I am to the prize.... Like a countdown of yards and feet so I have some idea that I am going the right way.
  17. I have a Garmin Oregon 550 and was wondering how you set it up to tell you how far until you reach the cache. Can you set it up to tell you how many feet until you reach it. I was told you can set it to how many miles then how many yards and feet. But I have looked on the manuals but cannot find it. Can anyone help me. I keep getting lost on the way and now my husband will not take me anymore.
  18. sorry, by fairly new I mean it is a year old and used 6 times.
  19. I have a fairly new garmen Oregon 550 unit and I cannot get it to charge with the car charger. I do not have a home charger. I also cannot figure out how to find a cache close to my location. It only shows me the ones close to my home. Anyone know how to fix either problem. Thank you very much.
  20. I do not know why but I cannot view any of the pictures.
  21. geocaching has to do with the fact that if I had not gone looking for a cache I would not have known about the fund raiser. It was not in my newspaper because I lived in a different state. Sorry if this story bored you. I fail to see what geocaching had to do with that. Thank the fund raiser. Few geocachers I know would stop for gas without complaining, much less stop for a fund raiser.
  22. That is so cool. I am surprised that she looked at it. I hope I have some cool finds.
  23. sorry for putting this in the wrong forum. Never did go for the cache either.
  24. I was going to look for a cache today and stopped at a fund raiser for veterans. I had to take a picture of the Budweiser Clydesdale's because my grandfather had his picture taken with them in 1954 and I had the copy with me. Soooooooo I left with the raffle with and extra $265.00 from the 50/50 raffle. Thanks geocache, If it wasn't for you I never would have gone that way. Any one else with fun stories of things that happened on the way to a cache?
