  1. Just a FYI note on these, They are stilll on sale at geoswag for 6.47 in the single finish, and the 2 tone just under $7 bucks, Great design for the many they will pay tribute to. Perhaps you would concider trades ? Here is a pic for this thread.
  2. Would our CoinTracking lists be considered a catalog of our collection? Think virtual would be something , but any coins could be added, think a photo digital of each page of binder would do as a actual validation of owning coins. Thanks all for the input !
  3. OHH Sorry for the loss bummer Bring this down here
  4. THX Chris, I will indeed ask my insurance guy, I will inquire about some type of specific "hobby collectiong" insurance and see if it does exist thanks. The problem question is even if I had a reciept the coin /coins appreciate. Also many a coin have traded and would not even have a origin reciept, proof of purchase at all even requesting the face value at time of buy. The real question is how to derive the current or "replacment value" in $ per coin it's not the same as US Currency that is cataloged and graded recorded documented and known universal . It's in the collectors eye so to say with Geocoins at this point as to value and this will float, How to prove and place insurance on these collectables is what I am seeking at time of loss. It may be as simple as raising the amount of insurance carried on the contents of home in general and not be "so specific" , Don't know but will inquire . (Still thinkin on the safes it is a investment but I like my shinys )
  5. I did a search and came up empty so forgive me if there is one open I missed . Insuring your collection , I have given this much thought and want to get some feedback from the community. Having a Geocoin collection of over 1000 coins (who's counting LOL) lets say at 10 bucks a piece we are talking a easy 10,000 dollars,. This is not taking into consideration of the special coins that could bring a 100 bucks on the open market. Homeowners insurance will cover valuables but usually would require a itemized listing . Given the varying market value of coins these days, how does one go about proof of value to a insurance agency for "Replacement" value when some can not even be replaced (well they could but some would never be parted with from others collections) My latest thought is to buy several fireproof safes to house my binders in in the event of a catastrophe, one never knows when such a event could happen, and or other related weather related loss. ETA::: This is not even taking into account the coins that could "not" be replaced ! Anyone savoy with knowledge of insurance , and or general feedback most welcome, as we all cherish our coins and think this may be a helpful topic for others. Glenn --

  13. For me it's all about reading the logs of people that have a opertunity to find/hold a coin of mine in thier hands to enjoy and pass onward . It's not about the icons for me at all personaly, enriching the game for all others is where I am at with coins set free I have about 80 coins traveling and more to set free, yes more generic coins , but coins no the less, as others have mentioned there are coins you can buy for the price of a TB Tag if you hunt around, also yes +crakes double keeper coin sets are a great in in between where you can have the best of both worlds, lastly enjoy this hobby / game however you chose I am most certinaly one to tell anyone what they should do, other then to provide viewpoints that are options to be looked at. Glenn
  14. This is just me, I send out a hunk of metal or nothing at all, if it goes missing so be it, it gets marked to a unknown location this is the risk I take known upfront , and some have turned back up after months of being inactive the most recient due to being at the bottom of someones caching back pack and found , these things happen even with the experianced cacher My loss rate has been quite low 5% +/- a couple have gone missing due to muggled caches and one to a fire in Australia, and the friend that sent it along for me replaced this traveler and was kind enough to replace the traveler for me with a Australian coin that I was cheerfuly given the opertunity to adopt Other then that most are travling along quite well, Also I have released about 20 special coins including about a dozen 07 Compass Rose coins as hand to hand travelers as Friendship Run Coins That many have been able to enjoy as a coin that may have been muggled quite swiftly if placed out in the wild. Glenn
