  1. You'd be surprised how many people will break up a box of crayons even if it cost 9 cents!
  2. I like a good profile page. You can click my name - critique welcome!
  3. I'm no germ-phobe, but I don't think I'd use a toothpick that's been sitting in a box under a rock, knowing how slimy those boxes get inside. Are they wrapped real well or soimething? Are you planning to put the crayons out one or two at a time? That's another bad idea. Also for those who really are strapped for cash, remember you can cadge ziplock bags from swag you pick up, or add your swag to a ziplock that's already there but not full. It really makes a difference in the condition of the item. Stuff degrades surprisingly fast out there.
  4. If you can find a way to understand that it's not wrong or right, you'll be happier & healthier.
  5. You don't have to thank them if you think it was a lame cache. I have a hide that I think is quite special but it has at least one "located the cache and signed the log" notation. They just weren't in the mood for praise, I guess.
  6. But aren't you just punishing the next person who comes along? They're not to blame for the AOL disc or the kool-aid scoop. When I see a rock or a pine cone, I wonder if it's somebody's 2-year-old who thinks they're giving up a real prize. If that's the case, I wish the parent would put it in the log. Another part of the problem is that some people don't realize what that sticker or card is going to look like the next morning after the inside of the container has condensed and sweated all over everything. My pet peeve is when someone disses a thread just because they've seen the topic before.
  7. I *heart* Mobipocket. One step and I get everything I want.
  8. I stumbled on a letterbox while searching for a cache and I never have been able to find it anywhere online. It looks like it was a school project but there were no instructions on what to do if you found it accidentally. I didn't take the stamp, but without instructions, how would the finder know? When I searched the internet, I did find a site that listed a different letterbox on the other side of the park from theirs.
  9. It's even quicker if, instead of going outside to get your home co-ords, you just punch in your zipcode.
  10. The car for the contest is buried too.
  11. GSAK with Cachemate gave me trouble. All caches were there including the ones I had tried to screen out, and they all went into the PDA as 1/1 difficulty. I finally abandoned that method, installed the free Mobipocket reader, and began getting the pocket queries in ebook form. I've never had a problem since then. It's fewer steps to downlaod the PQ, I get to see all the found logs, and I don't have to see the hint unless I want to.
  12. Don't type unhelpful mean things in cache logs and you won't have any problems.
  13. Aw, wouldn't you just rather everyone have fun with your cache? Some people like to do the puzzles, others just want to get out and hunt already. I'll bet there's room in your world for both.
  14. You could set up a blank document on your computer, then leave it open as you visit each cache page. You'd have to copy/paste the info from each cache page onto your new document, then print the new document.
  15. Thanks all, I am going to take Karen up on her kind offer to let me acquire her old one. I definitely have to have it with me because I don't look at the hint unless I am stumped, and by then I could be as much as 2 miles from the car. I made a nice padded case for it in case I fall on my backpack, and I try to remember not to walk with it - though it is hard to stand still sometimes with mosquitoes landing on you and giant horseflies diving at your head.
  16. Even the owner of the website knows he doesn't own the sport, so if someone really said that, they're an a**.
  17. I'd pay to watch THAT movie.
  18. He was trying to upsell you. The Z22 is much more than you'll need. It has 20mb of usable ram and the ability to use any software that any other palm can use. As is suspected. thank you both.
  19. Me neither and I forgot and placed a cache right in the middle of some.
  20. Too controll-y. We should be cleaning up our caches on a regular basis, and if someone isn't, you can't make them.
