  1. I haven't gotten any yet but I see quit a few posts where people have picked up ticks. Does DEET/Off work against ticks? If not what is the best way to avoid them? I have a feeling if my wife got a tick that would be her last time geocaching!
  2. is Off the best bug repellent or is there a better brand?
  3. I am referring to a US version and not state by state. I saw the poker chips version being discussed. The biggest difference is the coins are numbered and therefore can be tracked indivdually. If I'm correct I don't think the poker chips were numbered. I'm doing a cost analysis but it appears the cost would probably be about the same as the Texas coins. Still a little cheaper than the travel bugs though. Eric
  4. After noticing there are Texas and Canada geocoins I was thinking of getting some made for the rest of the U.S. However this would consider a sizable investment and was wondering if there would be enough interest for me to do it. You can see what they are at www.txgeocoins.com and www.geocoins.ca Those are not my sites I'm just letting you know in case someone may be wondering what I'm talking about. Thanks, Eric
  5. Forgive me if I named those wrong but anyone that can answer this should know what I'm referring too. A lot of the benchmarks list NAD83. Is there a difference between that setting and the WGS84 setting that is the default setting on my Garmin Etrex? Thanks, Eric
  6. Does anyone know if caches are allowed in the Summit County Metroparks? http://www.neo.lrun.com/MetroParks/home.html The above is their website.
  7. NIMBCO is pretty cool! :-) Markwell, I think it's toward the end of August I'll be in Merrillville Indiana which isn't overly far from Chicago. Hopefully I'll find a cache not to far from you and put a Morphing Bug in that area.
  8. How would I enter this Waypoint into a Garmin Etrex? I know with regular geocaching the zeros are all listed. With the Benchmarks the numbers are listed differently. I'm new so hopefully this isn't a stupid question. :-) N 41 6.671 W 81 30.617 (NAD 83) ie. is it 41.006.671 or 41.600.671 or neither?
  9. That way I can also show my son the pictures. He is 5 and really enjoyed the two caches we went out and found. Plus "I" also think it will be cool to see the objects change on their travels. Maybe I'll even use your name, "Mighty-Morphin Power Bug!" :-) My next trip out of state is towards the end of July. I just ordered the Travel Bugs last night so I should have them before then. Thanks, Eric
  10. First off, I am new and don't know if this has been tried or not. I live in Ohio but will be taking some trips to Michigan and Indiana. I'm thinking of doing "Surprise" travel bugs. Here is my idea. I'll leave the travel bug in a cache with nothing attached. It's mission will be to make it back to my home area with something attached as a surprise for my 5 year old son. How does that sound?
