  1. As far as "Take one, Leave one". I know of a cache that the bugs were muggled out of twice. The owner put a 1 for 1 rule in place. I don't know if that will solve the problem, but I can understand why he did it. As a bug owner, I would rather see my bugs taken and moved, cache owner bedamned. Hotels are nice but they're turning into a way to collect bugs without collecting them. I say keep the bugs in play. If you can move it, take it.
  2. Some people like shiny objects and there is not much anyone can do about. So whether or not I like it, sometimes people are going to raid a cache. My personal opinion is - first come first serve. I see nothing wrong with return to a cache you have already found to get a TB or coin, if you're going to help it meet its goal. For example I'm heading to IL and then to OK on vaction in a couple of weeks. If there are bugs in any of the local caches wanting to go that way, I'll take 'em. However I wouldn't go back to a cache just so I could get a bug or coin just to say I got it. Having said that. It is first come first serve. The 'ethics' of the game seem to be a matter of personal opinion these days. Personally I would prefer to see a bug keep moving instead hibernating in a cache. If they move the bug, isn't that what the owner wanted.
  3. A woman who loves football, hockey and baseball. Can hike or run longer and faster than 90% of the men on this thread. Can handle a weapon like it's second nature. Can find a cache almost with her eyes closed. Can put up with my BS. And of course is dam- good in bed. Oh wait, that's my wife. Sorry fellas, she's mine.
  4. Any Special Ops guy who can operate intericate equipment and can blaze a trail with a blind fold on and who take care of those really scary things like spiders and snakes. Wait I think I already have that it's my hubby.
  5. In the modern world, going all day without being adjacent to a cache is a real accomplishment, so the record actually means something. You get these old-timers around here who were caching back before June of 2004, and they have their records where they went for a week without being anywhere near a cache and all I can do is shake my head. I'm not saying that it's strictly cheating to claim zero caches found during the pre-June 2004 period, but I think that the lack of Wally World micros at the time means that their claims are cheapened somewhat. Now, some of you will say that I should mind my own business, and who cares if these pre-June 2004 zero ho's want to claim that they were nowhere near a cache when there were hardly any caches in existence? But I do care, and this sort of artificial numbers deflating game calls into question the accomplishments of those of us who have gotten into the game only recently. We've already seen this happening in this thread. Somebody says that they got zero caches yesterday, and then somebody else claims that they had zero caches back in May 2004. And then somebody else claims that they had zero caches back in the 50s, before the GPS satellite was even invented. And they say it like it means something! Incredible! I had zero finds a couple of days last week, and to do that I had to sit down with GSAK for hours, plotting my route. I had to make sure that I wasn't near any active or archived caches, or near any locations where there's been an event cache. I even had to make sure I wasn't close to any points listed on Waymarking.com, just in case somebody had used the location as an old virtual or locationless cache. And then I had to avoid all these points by 528 feet, in case the caches had been moved recently and I was in danger of coming close to their previous location. So congratulations to Renegade Knight for setting a record that actually means something. And to the rest of you who are back-dating your zero-find accomplishments to before June 2004 (the point before which the lack of Micro Spew [tm] makes low numbers immediately suspect, imho), FOR SHAME. dave You need to come to North Dakota. Micro Spew or not, its dadgum easy to be miles away from a cache. You have to try to be within 528 feet of a cache. Oh @$%%, I just thought about a cache location. There goes my record attempt. Thanks alot
  6. Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Not a big deal in this case, sort of comical. Not that I haven't seen "geo-pals" of cache hiders who were given cache coordinates before approval claim to be the legimate FTF. But that's a whole 'nuther thread. I reiterate.... WHAT THE @^#$
  7. I think it might be working. I just had a puzzle cache published today. The puzzle should take the average person 15 to 20 minutes to solve, and then they would need to drive about 20 miles to find the cache. A group of cachers have already claimed it. It normaly takes a day or two for someone to get a FTF around here. I think there might be a little light at the end of the tunnel. I hope it's not an oncoming train.
  8. Sounds like most you agree with me on this, so I'll put it to you this way. If you got the FTF on one of my caches, would you like for me to post it on the cache page, so that when any reads it from then on, they will know that you were the FTFr?
  9. Hey Somewhere, If you do get this going give me a yell. I'll throw in with you as much as I can. I've been thinking of make a personal coin anyway.
  10. Only got one thing to say about this..... WHAT THE @#$@!!!
  11. If you have any questions or comments about the cache post it there. The logs will be removed before it's posted. If nothing else, it's your chance to kiss the reviewers... (fill in the blank with word of your choice). It may not help, but who knows.
  12. I recently moved to Grand Forks ND, and I'm wanting to get more interest going in caching in the area. I would like to get some kind of group started around here. I'm planning a event cache for August. If anyone has in suggestions to help get things going or how to start a group, help me out. If you are in the Red River of the North Valley or nearby, I'de like to hear from you. Happy Caching Wolf of the Totem Clan

  14. I agree. All but four of my caches (and all but one placed in Iraq) are constructed this way. Plays on words and puns in the description, as well as a twist in names on my caches all contain sublte (and at times not so subtle, but seem to make little sense until getting close to the cache. Most of the caches with these plays on words generally somewhat more interesting logs than the "Thanks. TNLN." Probably my favorite is this one, where I have received mail from folks who will not even be able to search for it comment how they like the wording. Nice, Maybe a well, spring or fountain??
  15. It's the crazed cachers I'm wondering about. They get a rush from being ftf, no need to feed the habit. I'm not worry about your average cacher wanting to feed the habit. In fact that is kinda what I'm after. I love the rush of getting a FTF. I just want others around here to get that same desire. I'm just wondering if it's a good idea to publish the FTFers. Will that help me encourage healthy enthusiasim, or I'm am feeding the demons?
  16. Send that jerk across the boder to ND and he'll how know good he has it. There are 36 cache within 50 miles of my house, 6 of those are mine. Lazy cachers are gutting our sport. Get of your f...ing a.. and cache a..hole. If want to set on your couch then stay there and let the rest of us enjoy ourselves. I've got nothing againest mircos mind you. I've even got some of my own. But cache put put because you're too dadgum lazy to do it right is a bad cache. Easy there big fella. I agree with the spirit of your post/point, but I want to make sure we're clear on one thing: I'm a proud member of MNGCA (I've spent a majority of my Mon-Fri workweeks there for over 2 years now) and think the vast majority of cachers there are GREAT folks. My post and my point were in response to a SINGLE cacher in a SINGLE, CIVILIZED discussion on the topic. PLEASE don't let this become an MN-bashing discussion...that was NOT my intent. Not my intent, sorry. I would agree with what say about MN cachers. I've done some caching there and had some of your members over here. Anything that helps the sport is great. It just gets my goat when people like the one you mentioned would rather have lots of poor caches that a few good ones.
  17. It's the crazed cachers I'm wondering about.
  18. The problem is just the reverse. I had a 1/1.5 cache set for over a day, on a weekend, before the FTF. I want people to get out and go for them. I also don't want any FTF-obsessed cachers. Just trying to stir up something in my area.
  19. I don't see anything wrong with seeking FTFs, or with keeping a list of them that others can view. I do both. But I think it's inappropriate to do this via a public bookmark list. Using a public list, rather than a shared, nonpublic list or something posted in your profile, forces your personal list of accomplishments to appear very prominently on large numbers of pages that belong to other cachers. I think that's what people are objecting to, and I think they're right. Folks go to cache pages to learn about hides, not about me. Bragging about FTFs is fine , but in my opinion it belongs in 'Found It' logs and personal profiles. Well put!
  20. When we moved here I was shocked to see how unknown caching was. I'm doing my best to stir up interest in the sport up here. One thing I do is to post the name of the FTFr on the cache description of all my caches as a kind of reward for them. Having heard how some of the a..holes out there are acting about FTFs, I just thought I would ask, what do you guys think about the idea. Am I setting these cachers up as targets, or is it a good way to reward some of the local cachers?
  21. I had one person on the Minnesota forums respond back to a civil (yes) discussion we were having on this topic with the comment, "Why should have to drive more than 5 miles to be able to cache". I was so dumbfounded I couldn't even answer. 22. I have to ditto that. If an event isn't practical, a mall or other high traffic public place would probably be ok, provided you don't go alone . Out on the side of the road or in the woods though, no way. Double Ditto. It's one thing for someone to contact you about one of your caches or maybe an event, but it sounds like this is just a bit hinky. Caution is the keyword here.
  23. If you have too many caches in your area send some this way. I could use some help populating this part of the world. Within 50 miles of my home there are only 36 caches. 6 of those are mine and have been placed in the last 2 weeks. I can understand when your talking about bad caches, but least you've got caches to choose from.

Having heard how some of the a..holes out there are acting about FTFs, I just thought I would ask, what do you guys think about the idea. Am I setting these cachers up as targets, or is it a good way to reward some of the local cachers? As far as list of your FTFs, I see nothing wrong with. If someone gets their panties in a wad just because you got there first, they need some help. Also, "It's not bragging if you can back it up".
  25. Out of the mouths of 'babes', so to speak. You're dead on with that. Yet some people just want to put out a cache, any cache, anywhere. In the case at hand, it's first come, first serve. The 'misplaced' micro was there first. If you can get the owner to work with you, GREAT. Having said that most cachers that would place a 'Mirco Spew' cache won't share. Therein lays the problem.
