  1. Hi, How about one question. Is the free updated map still available or did I miss the boat?
  2. I was talking with my wife and I mentioned that I wanted the GPS V. It was getting near my birthday, so she was pumping me for info. I checked out the price on Amazon, and it was pretty good at $369 or so. She got in touch with my parents, her parents, and a few other people and she bought the unit. It was only $328. Did the price go down? Will I still get the free upgrade map to all of the US? Will it get here before the end of the month?
  3. how does the V compare to the V delux in price?
  4. The only safty in Paypal is if you pay by credit card. If you do, you can do a chaarge back. If you use cash you have on account, or an echeck from your account, you are up a creek without a paddle.

  6. does this mean that if Buy a gps V after the 4th, I will get a new disk and will have to pay for each region, but if I get the old disk, I can get the new disk with all regions for $50? I was planning on getting one soon, maybe end of july or beginning of AUG. but perhaps I should run out and get it now. what do you all think?
  7. Well, thanks a bunch everyone. It seems my Brother in Law is planning on getting a GPS V for himself. I figure that since it does almost everything I want (except rechrge its own batteries), it would probably be best for me to get the same thing. We can share info, maps, hints and stuff. Seems like a nice one too. A bit beyond my budget... Just have to sell more Olympic pins. See you on the trails... If you have any more comments, please feel free to post them here. I am interested to see what you all think of my decision.
  8. Does it recharge batteries from teh car lighter? Finally, does anyone offer maps over the internet for free, or are they all pay for play.
  9. I've been thinking of getting a GPS for a while. I stumbled on this page, and my wife and I are jazzed up about finding some Caches. Now the hardest question. With a budget of $250 or so, what GPS should we get? I can use either a mac or Windows '98 machine (I am not sure I have a serial port). I would love to be able to use it to find addresses while driving as well as for geocaching. I travel outside the US, so international maps would be nice (especially if you DL from the internet for free). I would like to be able to use a cigarette lighter for power and to recharge the batteries (do any of them do this)? Does such an animal exist? Can I get everything I want if I break my budget? Can I get everything I want for $40? This is my first stop in the grand search.
  10. Oh yeah, would it be inappropriate for me to copy this into another forum?
