This is how I feel about it! I am a little surprised to see so many people try to pretend they are doing something else. I only started two days ago but one of my finds was right by an apartment complex/street. A guy saw what I was doing and said "hey, are you geocaching? want a hint?" hah I guess it was a popular spot! If anyone were to ever ask me what I was doing, I would explain it to them. I think it is a really fun and great thing, why not share the enjoyment? I would feel more awkward and nervous if I was pretending to do something else.

I'm 22 and brand new. Hope to be enjoying this for years to come!

I first heard about it from a friend a few years ago. He had gone out but, for some reason, whatever he was doing involved simply going to a location and not searching for anything. That didn't sound appealing to me because I would want a goal, or to know that I was at least where I was trying to go. I never looked into it. Do you mean this October, or last October? If you mean upcoming, I am interested to hear about this! I am not exactly sure what you mean, but I am a student nurse so it sounds good to me! And that is the tough part about living in the city, right now I feel like it is too hot to go during the day but it might be too dark in the later afternoon for someone new like me. Eventually I'd love to end up going north a bit to places with water or more trees to get more out of it! Thanks again, everyone, for the welcome!

Hello all, I just wanted to introduce myself and express how excited I am to begin! You all seem like a very helpful bunch which is great, because I am already a tad overwhelmed with abbreviations and putting coordinates into my phone and all that, but I can't wait to get out there. I wanted to clarify a few things before I go on my first hunt, though. As it seems, the cache will generally be accessible but hidden, right? At first I thought things might be buried but I haven't read about that so far... also, for items to trade, do you all generally carry along little trinkets like keychains or vending machine toys? Not sure what I will be encountering but I want to be able to leave something appropriate if it comes to that. If there is anyone in my area (Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe) that would like to message me or let me know a bit about special things going on here, recommendations, etc.. I would be glad to hear from you!
