  1. I am on my second eTrex30. It was cheaper than the eTrex30x and I wasn't sure it would do anything more for me than an eTrex30, which I am happy with, so I bought the cheaper. I do need a chip in it though to load maps from around the world for travelling.
  2. Also dark colours deteriorate slower in the sun than pale colours. Another reason the green is better than the white containers.
  3. I find those tablet containers work well too, being a good sized small (bigger than the most commonly seen sistema) with a wide lid. They last years too and don't appear to leak. Better to reuse them than buy one. The dark green coloured ones are the best.
  4. Do you mean the main geocaching site? I opened it, opened a cache and made a minor correction to a log of mine, went save, and it was saved. All appeared to work.
  5. It appears many geocachers (usually newer ones) appear not capable of reading what the sizes actually mean. They appear to think, 'Okay, like, that tiny nano is a micro, therefore bison tubes, mintie tins and similar are bigger than a nano, and as the nano is a micro, naturally bison tubes, mintie tins, etc are, like obviously smalls. And if they are smalls, sistemas and similar are then naturally regular, and anything bigger gotta be a large sized." The missing rating for nanos, is what I believe has led to many cache sizes being wrongly rated.
  6. Re souvenirs; a weird thing happened. I had hidden all the souvenirs except the country/state souvenirs. (Well not really hidden unfortunately, only faded.) I am only interested in the country/state ones and wish I could really hide the others, but faded is the best that is allowed. Anyway, I found all the souvenirs reversed. The ones I had faded, were no longer faded, and the country/state ones, which I hadn't faded were now faded. So I needed to go through the list and click on all of them again, to get them the way I wanted, and had before. Weird, they had changed around.
  7. Caches a couple of days ago, with my Garmin etrex 30 and had no problems.
  8. There are armchair loggers out there, and some write very realistic logs. See the attached image. They are not all only, "TFTC." These ones got caught out for this log, because this multicache involves travel in three states and an overnight boat ride to Tasmania.GC2TR90 I deleted their logs from four of my caches. Added: They did finally 'hide' a cache. No one was able to find it. I believe it was as 'real' as their 'finds'.
  9. Garmin Etrex30. Reading your comment I will need to go take a look at the Garmin when I get home to check this, but I don't remember seeing the attributes.
  10. Attributes don't show up on my Garmin, so in the field they are irrelevant to me, because I can't see them. Therefore they have never been that important to me, although I do mark a few attributes on my caches, but wondering if anyone actually looks at them, because not appearing on my Garmin, I never do.
  11. If I were reusing the log book, I would white-out any previous logs on the hard cover, or just paste paper over them.
  12. I don't understand why the CO didn't remove the used pages. If I reuse a log, I do. Anyway, you didn't mark it, but the FTF is yours.
  13. " 3Cache Monty " Never heard of this and never experienced it. Sounds very wrong.
  14. Hi weBliss, welcome to geocaching. I looked at some of your finds. It's great you are proving you were there by supplying a good photograph as evidence, but you must remember take along a pen. Some caches have a pen, but many don't, so don't expect to find a pen. Where I live for instance, most caches don't supply a pen, as it's expected that cachers will carry their own pens. I usually have at least two pens with me, in case one runs out of ink. None of my caches have pens in them.
  15. Please no videos. What I want to see is a nicely written log, (and hopefully find something useful if I am stuck ). I doubt I could be bothered to click on a video. Certainly not on my phone as it would chew through my allowed download. Actually the same with the home computer too, as I ran out of download the last two months. But if you want to show a video do a link, so that those of us who are not interested, or don't have the download can ignore. But preferably, you would write a nice log. Much better.
  16. I have seen that happen with a cache in Iceland. It was missing, but someone replaced it and the reviewer accepted that. At the time I thought it was because maybe there were not many caches there.
  17. I compare physical logs to the online logs; after which I post a photograph of the physical log. If a signature is missing I contact the geocacher and ask them to please point out their signature on the log, as perhaps I missed seeing it. I did once miss seeing it. It that case I apologised for missing the signature. (Although if they had signed properly, rather than left a faint squiggle it would have been easier to spot.) Some never reply, so after giving them a couple of weeks it's delete. Others come back with some proof, which I usually accept if it's good enough, but do point out if they couldn't sign the log it's best to contact the CO before logging it. As I do, as I would feel it's impolite not to contact the CO first, and I've never had a log request knocked back after providing good proof I found it. I have only ever forgotten my pen about three times though. Some people seem to always forget their pens, or variation, lose it. I am now starting to check other logs of theirs, and if this happens log after log, I can no longer be bothered to contact them; I just delete. But reasonable people who contact me with proof, I accept their logs.
  18. Even where there are no fences, there's usually a road allowance. I was pulled off to find a cache in the photograph with the passing road train. Of course tracks might not have areas to pull off, but it's not so important with them, as they don't have much traffic. Several caches down the track in that photograph, that I was headed to find.
  19. Simple, the CO checks that their cache is still there and then reports the original cache is still there and deletes the FTF find. Otherwise, it's up to the CO what they do about a replacement cache; whether they accept the log or delete it. If I were the CO I would be straight out to check the cache.
  20. That's different to here in Australia. There is a strip of public land beside the roads. 'The long paddock'. With or without fences.
  21. Unfortunately many people appear not to do multicaches, or at least the longer ones. I admit I have been guilty of this myself at times when travelling, although I did do a long multicache that I drove about 12,000kms to complete. I own three and the two longer ones haven't had many finders, and the third (shorter multicache) I think only gets as many finds as it does, because it's part of a power trail. GC61P7D Found last month, after no finds for over a year. GC7AGE1 Not found since February this year.
  22. I have been clicking on THIS LINK in the first entry on page one, but that only gives me my caches. How do I do any area; not personal caches found, etc?
  23. How do I find out the number history of caches is certain areas?
