  1. Maybe for your local and quick you ran it on the webpage and selected a few then the download button. Those are LOC and don't have much info. To get GPX you need to either click the GPX download button on each page or use a PQ I often saw this when exporting caches out of GSAK to my Colorado 300. It would create the GPX file but I guess something was not valid in it or something and no caches would show up. After rebooting and re-export, it would work. I have seen it on a couple of occasions on my Oregon 450. Sometimes it would display the caches but no descriptions (when you try to go back to the list, it shuts down) and other times it would show No Results even though the file was clearly there in both cases. I got burned a couple of times in the field when I forgot to boot up and check a cache to make sure the descriptions where there. It is kind of frustrating at times for sure.
  2. Oh...now I am pretty sure I have it enabled. I figured that was kind of necessary if I did happen to run across one of these new chirp enabled devices. But I suppose that it would be easier to just turn it off when I know that I am chasing caches that are not using the new technology. It still seems weird that they woul dnot put it below Log Attempt or at the bottom of the list when it is On.
  3. Mine has Show Descriptions Show Logs Show Hint Show chrip Details Log Attemspt ... So I have to scroll down pass show Chirp Details to see Log Attempt This is with the 4.00 software. Kind of annoying.
  4. Recently purchased the Oregon 450 and had not really had an oppotunity to take it out geocaching. I downloaded the new update the other day and headed out for some caching today. I must admit that it was pretty annoying to have to scroll past the Chrip setup options to get to the Log Attempt button. Let me see, I found 22 caches today and had to scroll past ahat Chrip button every time. I dd not find one cache today that was using the Chirp device. It seems that they could have moved that option down the list if it is not having to be changed or used on a regular basis. Obviously, the Garmin guys are not geocachers.
  5. Had this happen on my 60csx and reloading the GPS Chipset firmware fixed it right up.
  6. I had the same issue occur because I pulled the batteries without shutting it down properly and somehow messued up my GPS software. You need to go out on the the Garmin site or do a search and locate the latest GPS firmware updates (not the unit software) and resinstall it on your 60csx. That should get you back up and going.
  7. Not sure that feature is worth $200 extra dollars but it would be nice to have for sure.

  9. I don't usually miss that stuff. One more of those enhancements that is needed in firmware but you have got to buy the upgraded unit to get the feature I guess. I have already mentioned it to support at Garmin.
  10. It sure would be nice and helpful if when you are n Geocaching mode and you choose to "Show Found" caches if it would just total how many are there. There is no easy way that I am aware of to figure out how many finds you have on the day without rolling or arrowing down and counting.
  11. does anyone use a 3600 and cachemate and cachenav? did you get a seperate icon in the main palm applications display for cachenave after install? I used to use that setup but have not for a while. I looked at my Palm which I still used for cachemate and the CacheNav icon is not on the menus. Only from within Cachemate.
  12. I used to use the iQue with Cachemate and CacheNave for my caching equipemt. I was always having troule with battery life while in the field so I purchased a Garmin 60csx and now use the PDA just for past logs and information. They coexist on the same computer quite nicely. My iQue is palm based so it has a cradel for USB and the 60csx is straight USB connected but I have no issues with my setup. BTW...talked to your buddy CC yesterday and will be caching some with him this weekend. I hear he is headed your way soon.
  13. If you are using GSAK, sounds like you need to use the Corrected Coordinate feature to keep track of those final stage coordinates.
  14. I have probably found about 1700 caches with my Ique 3200. I have the Streetmaps loaded but generally just use the in-car C330 to navigate to the location. I use Cachemate and the CacheNav plugin to get me to the cache. It seems to get me as close as my other cacing buddies units. I used to use an external antenna but the external port broke. It is not as durable as some of the outdoor units. The battery life is horrible. I have an external battey pack I made to help keep me in the field long after the internal battery is gone. I have seem battery replacements offered on the brighthand forum but did not really want to crack open the unit. Besides...I could not find the right tool yet. I think it may ship with the replacement battery.
  15. Are all those suggesions available for Palm OS?
  16. I too use the C330 to navigate between caches. I use a GSAK export macro that I downloaded and it creates custom POI's by catgorery like Traiditional, Multi, Mystery, Virtual, etc. It works great for me. Everytime I get ready to hit the field, I just export my custom POI's it overwrites the old ones and I use POI Loader to put them in. My ones I found last trip now show up in the found category and all others show up in their appropriate tabs. Granted you cannot delete them 1 at a time as you find them (though that would be a nice feature), you can get rid of the old ones by loading a new file wth what you want that has the same name.
  17. This one helped me get my logging from cachemate back to GSAK and onto the web done. If you ever get it set up properly, it wokrs like a champ. http://www.pineywoodscachers.com/PCCForums...4/ShowPost.aspx
  18. I use the Garmin Ique 3200. PDA (Palm OS) with built in GPS. Actually works really well with Cachemate and CacheNav. Found about 1100 or so caches with it. I have used with an external antenna in the past but the port got broken so now I just use the external antenna. Unless you are in extremely heavy tree cover, the external antenna is not required. You can pick one up on buy.com for around $200.00. That is more than some of the ebay PDA values, but it does contain GPS and for all-in-one usit, I think it is tough to beat.
  19. Here is a very good explanation with pictures to describe how to accomplish this with Mapsource and GSAK. Very easy and quick. http://www.pineywoodscachers.com/PCCForums...9/ShowPost.aspx
