  1. Thank you very much for posting that link, I don't get a chance to go caching very often, but I am one of the 200 that use this feature regularly, for myself and for family members who are able to go more frequently. Funny, I always just kept the link saved in Google Earth, so I never even noticed that it was "gone". *sigh* I just tried re-downloading this link - it didn't help. I guess I didn't use it enough to substantiate it either (but I loved using it when I did plan my non-local cache trips). I'm really sorry it wasn't feasable to keep.
  2. I'll send an email to Haley - I believe I spoke with her and another gentleman that works for the HC Parks when I attended the Hendricks County CITO event last month. I saw the upcoming program on the parks brochure and wondered who was helping her. Thanks for the heads up! ~NM~
  3. Sorry, can't be Doobies, he's Reviewer Hilts. Wulf Doobies? Hilts? The same guy?!?!??! I'm so confused....***counting with fingers*** What's next? You're going to tell me IndyDiver is Mountain Climber?!? *sigh*
  4. I'm so excited about my first mega! Once my fourteen year old gets up we're on our way! See everyone there! ~NM~
  5. I would have to agree with the difficulty rating, but terrain...wouldn't you think its more of a 3? As far as the carniverous spirits waiting inside the cache that burn the skin of mortals bones...that's what happens when people don't trade up in the cache...it ticks off the spirits!! Its all clear to me now...
  6. You guys are great! If it weren't for those silly Viegans I may have been onto something... Maybe if we just put a travel bug tag on it - it might still be legal. Any of you want to do the honors?
  7. My husband and I are watching National Geographic's feature on the Ark of the Covenant - never discovered by modern man... Being a geocacher for nearly a year now, I immediately said "if there were a geocache placed there, it would have been found by now" I thought since I was already in the forum I would ask the rest of you... If there were a cache placed at the Ark of the Covenant, would geocachers find it? And so there it is....what do YOU think? Can't wait to hear... ~NM~
  8. Sorry to reply so late - I have a Garmin Streetpilot that I use for EVERYTHING and absolutely cannot live without it - including getting me as close to caches as I can get with a car. The Garmin auto unit although it doesn't like it - IS capable of tracking off-roads. One way to do this is change your user preferences (look under 'settings' or 'tools' and then vehicle type, or enable for off-road use. To date I haven't seen a Garmin that doesn't allow for this in some way. The only difference is what the function is called or how you get to it using the user screens. There also may be an option to enable 'snap-to' routing. When I turn into an area where there are no roads on the basemap (new road, parking lot, etc.), it takes about 30-50ft for the Streetpilot to recognize I'm REALLY off the road. It helps to zoom in when you get closer to the cache area as well. Using only the car GPS, you can do some geocaching, but combined with a handheld is where the really fun stuff begins! Good luck and happy caching! ~NM~
  9. Oh, and congrats to Are_We_There_Yet? ! I feel like such a newbie at 360! The feeling of being Left_in_the_dust is beginning to overcome me! THAT's why I MUST...UPGRADE... (am I rationalizing too much? *blink**blink*)
  10. Thanks guys for your replies (wow, that RHYMED) I'll look into the CX - less the 'S'...and try to figure out how to use a manual compass. Hope everyone enjoyed the Spring Mill event today - wish I could have been there! Toni ~NM~
  11. Hello everybody! I know this is a little off topic, but I'm in the market for a new GPSMap 60csx...where's the best deal in Indiana (or online?). I've checked around and apparently I just missed the $50 rebate by six months.. Somewhere over the weekend I've 'gifted' my Rino at a cache...what a great find for some unsuspecting cacher (or other)... *sigh* Oh well, guess its time to get a new one, anyway!
  12. For what its worth, I've been getting the same error in my 'Via Route' PQs... Archive feature...I wasn't aware of the terminology either. *sigh* I suppose its a blonde moment for me....WAIT...I'm not blonde... Wonder what's causing the error anyway... I looked for the archive feature, but could not find ita anywhere on the page. I guess I'll just have to deal with it somehow. ~NM~
  13. I've started caching a little over a year ago because I thought it would be a great way to get the family outdoors in a fun way. Little did I know the most enthusiastic (next to me, of course) about geocaching would be my dog, Cosmo. He LOVES to go to the caching events with me, so I try to bring him along whenever there's hiking, camping and/or trails involved. He seems fascinated with TBs as you can see in the photos... This photo is a TB we found when we just started out in a cache called 'Thank you, Mr. Carnegie' in Plainfield, IN. The next two are TB 'buddies' we've found on our journeys.. I would take more photos but I'm currently trying to replace my now broken digital camera... Wouldn't it be fun to have an event just for cache dogs? Just a thought!
  14. Crud I just upgraded my account this morning, but didn't want to download until I was at home on my desktop. Will you post here when you get everything straightened out? I'm dying to try out the upgrade! Thanks! ~NotMe~
  15. My Garmin Streetpilot III has died over the last two weeks. To get it completely rebuilt from Garmin it will cost me over $200 plus shipping. When I sent back a nearly brand new upgraded version for the same service it would have only cost me $25 more! As I would like to upgrade, I would be willing to either purchase a newer version of the Streetpilot working for a reasonable price or non-working for an even better price. If you have one of these sitting at home and have already upgraded to the next model - here's a way to get some of your money back! Please let me know as I am going through withdrawal!!! Feel free to contact me via email at Chrisntoni@sbcglobal.net with anything you have available with a price. Thank you! Toni Harris ~NotMe~
  16. CrossRoadNomads - I feel your pain. After going to Trailmixes III and IV, I can't rightly miss Trailmix V! Plus, after Deermark took my PopTart order at the Spring Picnic I just can't let him down Sounds like the Pokagon event is going to be a huge blast as well...maybe next year. Anyone up for another Shelter III try soon? Its beginning to get chilly up here...
  17. Hey everyone! I'm sorry I missed the 'Mini-event' at Shelter III on saturday - I had to work until 4 in Greenwood and by the time I was done I had no energy left [] Is the shelter still structurally sound? haha I saw all the posts - is it true that there's another red herring (total: 2 - so far, that is!)
  18. Hey everyone! Was checking out a few things in the forum and spotted the Indiana Cacher's Thread. I couldn't help but to say 'Hello' Is it just me or does the Indy Cachers group seem to be disproportionately larger than those in other states? Not complaining, of course - I think its awesome! Why is it though that everyone at my work thinks I'm crazy when I take off during lunch to go caching?? See everyone at the 2006 Fall Picnic! yay ~NotMe~
  19. Do you know if you can use GSAK with this unit? I'm looking for a friend - I'm dead set on recommending Garmins If so, then we may have a deal! Let me know thanks!
  20. Thank you Mysticangel! Looking forward to the rinos!
  21. Looking to purchase a nice used but not necessarily perfect condition Garmin Rino 120 or 130 for something less than $200. If someone is looking to upgrade and needs to sell their 'old' GPS - please let me know! Thanks! A new (and addicted) geocacher
  22. Hi Mat! If its not too late, I would like to buy your GPS for $200cdn Please respond back asap - I'm anxious to hear back! Toni H ChrisnToni@sbcglobal.net
  23. If for some reason Midget Izzy decides not to purchase your GPS - I'm interested! Thanks! ChrisnToni@sbcglobal.net
  24. Not sure if this is sold yet, but I sent you my info via PM... Thanks!
  25. I wasn't clear on the description - is the cigarette lighter adapter included in the $140 price?
