My cache GC4CVEZ is hidden at the end of a short lane near my parents house ( so it's easy for me to maintain) It looks like a concerned neighbour has called the police on them last night, police have come, out and the cachers have had to explain themselves It's a quiet area , but not do quiet that people don't walk around I'm a little worried about leaving the cache live now as I wouldn't want any other hunters to be put in a similar position The log was posted after midnight and I think that the searchers were out there with head torches quite late at night . It's a responsible hide , nothing untoward or exceptional about it I'd be interested in people's thoughts

just bumping this up, every now and again when i drag my PQ's onto my 450 it hangs rebooting, it gets half way accross on the loading bar, then switches off, sometimes it would still connct to the computer other times not . i just forced it into mass storage mode and took the caches off and on again and its working fine, glad that got posted up, saves me frustration for next time it happens. Hi, and welcome. you could do this at a push, maybe if your looking for some urban caches, sometimes the hiding places are more obvious and you get a sort of geo sense after looking for a few, but google maps is not massively accurate, sometimes yuoll be lead to the wrong place, youd be far better off looking to get a used gps, almost any will be suitable at first, or using a smartphone ap. maybe try to find someone in your area who you could cache with ? yeah you can maybe do a few by carefully selecting them , but i think more often than not youd be frustrated and end up getting put off

Seems a little dumb to assume the last person to log a cache trashed it, surely theyd stay anonymous and just not log the find

The free Iphone app , is quite basic and just shows the closest 3 caches to your location, no searches i dont think or anything shiny. The paid ap , gives you everything more or less that you can do through the geocaching.com website. to be able to carry out pocket queries, have favourites, lists and be able to show "premium" caches you need to be a premioum member, the premium mebership isnt associated with the APP, but when you log into the iphone App it knows if your a premium, member and you can run pocket queries from it and such like

i did exactly that and couldnt figure out why my car routing had gone fubar

Thanks for that guys. glad i didnt have to create a list and add them all myself, thats a serious piece of work amnd much appreciated. just as an aside, if any of the caches of the list have been archived or disabled, will they still come through in the pocket query and therefore turn up on my gpsr ?

Hi Folks, been using pocket queries for a while with no issues. not sure if what i want to do is possible, theres a series of caches called "motorway mayhem" all over the uk, i ant to do a pocket querry just for these caches but i cant see a way to enter it, i can do a general cache search from the "PLAY" menu search and they come up , but im a bit stuck on how to get them into gpx any ideas ? well im assuming thats a puzzle cache and youve found the A= etc. so it works out at N51 18.314 W000 02.450 not sure how you enter the co ords to go to, but i entered the corords into the ap and it shown its as being somewhere near an area called Wallingham? never actually tried to enter coords straight into the iphone , be interested to see how this works out. i also have an ap called motion x gps, i can enter coords into this easy enough, maybe youd have to use something like this to actually navigate to coords

Thanks guys id actually done both of your fault pick ups, i had changed between profiles, but id also change to track up on the automotive profile, so ive changed the automotive profile back to automotive mode. dont know how i missed that really Cheers

Hi Folks, had a garmin oregon 450 for about a month, im pretty sure when i first got it when i used it as a gps in the car it showed the roads in 3d with the routes highlighted and stuff, just like the car sat navs, ive messed with it and used it for geochaching and obviously altered some setting, but now when im on automotive profile it shows the top down view like id use for walking etc any ideas what ive changed ? Cheers
