  1. El Diablo has agents in the Raleigh area, will be hiding one stage of a multi-STATE cache this weekend. Hawkeye is coming to visit, fellow geocachers! JoeyBob
  2. I used to cache alone, then started taking the kids when they are out of school. Recently, started caching with JeffersonStone, we have a blast! We just finished a contest cache last weekend (our first), and finished in the money. Lots of plans for some of the more difficult caches to our west- We're coming, Hawkeye and Jerry! JoeyBob
  3. I attended this same event, everyone had a blast! Very well organized, the contest was a lot of fun, the Hokies had some good ideas. Really enjoyed talking to other geocachers after the contest- Ltljon and Spyderman are some great guys. JoeyBob

  7. My oldest climbed Cadillac Mountain in Acadia NP 2 days after his 3rd birthday. He wanted to hike 5 1/2 miles to a cache recently when an access gate was locked. My youngest, on the other hand, went on ONE cache with me while a toddler. The final straw was him trying to eat poison ivy while I was logging the cache. He is better when his older brother goes- he just tags behind him. JoeyBob
  8. N35 46.605 W078 38.162 This will put you between the flagpoles out front- well, close enough to find the place, anyway. Hey, JeffersonStone, you up for the trip to Greensboro, I sure am! Sounds like fun. JoeyBob

  13. Yeah, if it was lost ammo cans or tupperware, we would be on it before he knew it was lost! He was looking for a radio tracking dog collar, said he could narrow it down to about a quarter square mile area. Told him if he had the map coords, we could find it pretty quickly! He laughed, and said thanks anyway. JoeyBob

  15. Actually, I only got wet on the beaver dam, about halfway up my boot. Wasn't very muddy that day. The article did have a positive tone, and I noticed a lot of caching activity, and a few newer cachers hitting the Raleigh area over the past two days. I even got a phone call from a gentleman wondering if I could help him locate some lost equipment in the woods. Something interesting may be developing as a result of the article, will post if it works out. JoeyBob

  17. buddavista has it right. Beaver's Playground is quite the cache- you will feel a sense of accomplishment, and work up a thirst for that beer! This has the makings of a mini-meeting. I know that JeffersonStone would be up for it, anyone want to give Hawkeye a rousing celebration for hitting a milestone? JoeyBob

  21. Just kidding. Actually, I feel bad, because JeffersonStone was supposed to go solo, and invited me along. His picture didn't make the paper! Chris Seward must have taken 200 or so pictures, some of Ryan must have come out okay. A producer from Zoom Culture in Chapel Hill sent me an interesting email, will keep the group updated if anything pans out. JoeyBob P.S. Ryan is much better looking than myself, just ask his wife-

The link to the article is: http://www.newsobserver.com/thursday/front/Features/Story/1107818p-1106001c.html Don't know how long this will stay active- the author put a positive spin on the article, Geocachers come across pretty well. 25. I was using a "borrowed" computer that had a Pentium II processor, running Win98, 32 megs of ram. My Mac at home rocks, but VirtualPC won't recognize the Mapsend cd. I may pick up a cheap pc just for gps and mapping stuff. JoeyBob
