  1. Thank you very much for working on an alternative solution for the KML situation. I/We are very appreciative and extremely impressed by your hard work, dedication and devotion to geocachers and the Geocaching community. You deserve a big pat on the back!!! Thanks again.
  2. Are you a Premium Member? If so, you can submit a Pocket query to Groundspeak and then file/load the pocket query GPX file directly into Google earth to view the caches contained within it. Jon. Why should you have to burn 1 or more of your limit of 5 pocket query to possibly find caches along a route? Are they gonna increase the amount of daily pocket query for us premium members? I find it hard to believe that WORLD WIDE only 200 people used the KML feature and if so that the server was so OVER BURDENED. If only 200 people - not on all at once put a strain on a server like that, then they either need to dedicate a seperate server to this feature or get a better programmer. So long routes, blocks and other specialized queries. Displeased is a understatement
  3. Don't feel dumb. I have had two other Garmin GPSr and still have a Street Pilot III and the serial cable for it also works on the 60C. I found out like you that you can't load the waypoints via USB, unless you use the CD that came with the 60C (I think) I have not tried it as you have to convert them to .mps from .loc or .gpx files. I just load the maps via USB and the waypoints via EasyGPS or ExpertGPS. Just a FYI - If you become a premium member of geocaching.com, you can do pocket queries and if you do, make sure to download them as a .gpx file and not a .loc file as the .gpx file will keep the geocache open and closed chest icon from the site to the GPSr. Also, the US Road and Recreation CD will work with the 60C too. Happy caching!
  4. Thanks! The problem has been solved
  5. Got a question about the EasyGPS program and the transfer to the 60C. I get the .gpx file or .loc files from the website, load them into the EasyGPS. The closed and open chest symbols are displayed (depending if I have found the cache or if it is one that I haven't yet). When I U/L them to the 60C, they change from the open or closed chest to blue flags. Is there something I missed in the Geocache setup? The symbols listed are the open and closed chests in the set up area. Kind of frustrating having to change every symbol from the blue flags back to either the open or closed chest. Anyone else have this problem and answers are apprciated. Thanks in advance!
  6. Yep, thats true, and please don't think that my post was meant to be demeaning in any way! I really think the site is great and will continue to to support it throughout its "growing pains"
  7. While it is nice that geocaching seems to be catching on, it is frustrating that the server can not handle the load. I am sure that TPTB are trying to resolve the recently surfaced problems, but it is getting pretty tiring trying to log finds, activate caches or even trying to get them uploaded for approval, look up new caches and more only to have one of many SERVER ERROR messages pop up. It doesn't seem to be during "expected heavy use" times either. I tried to log stuff from yesterday and was doing it at a rather late hour, only to have the error messages foil the action I was attempting to do. I will contiune to support as a premium member, because I feel geocaching is a great hobby, promotes family activity and the website, despite the current problems, is well laid out and informative. Yes, while frustrating we can only live with it until the problems are resolved.
  8. Thanks to all that have replied to my question. As I am starting to do benchmark hunting also, I may have some more questions in the future. Thanks again for answering!
  9. While out geocaching yesterday, after finding our last cache for the day we decided to stop for a picnic lunch at a nearby area of forest. After eating we hiked around a bit and I came across the following marker- pictures. I looked up the Lat/Lon on the benchmark area here and it didn't show. If there is another area for the Land Survey markers does anyone know of it? I am surprised that this one is still intact as it is in a camping area. Thanks in advance for any info or help Rich & Ray
