  1. Add me to the list. I needed to update coordinates on one of my new caches, no can do, since all afternoon. Guess, I might have to do something else. I used to do other things, what was that...............oh TV, maybe I could use that thing again. No, I don't think I used that remote for a cache container, but I might have robbed the batteries. Oh well.
  2. I don't post on here much, but wanted to add something. I found out about this from a post on FB. I emailed a complaint to abuse@inmotionhosting.com. I also included a link to his YT video. Now, I agree, only a complete moron would sign up for this thief's site, but I still find it offensive. I hope it is taken down and plan to post in my other FB forums. I wonder if he steals other things? I hate thieves. (Ha! Looks like Baggah beat me to the punch, great minds~~~)
  3. If you like, you can put this cache on your watchlist and then post a log on it. If you do so within the hour, I'll let you know if I get the notification. I have been getting all types of notifications from the website, all morning, so I would suspect an issue with your profile, or your email account. What happens if you go into your email program/page and send yourself an email? Thanks so much. I can't send an email to myself from my profile, but I did as you suggested, put that cache on my watch list and then posted a note. So we shall see soon I hope! You are genius! I got a notification on the note that I posted. Maybe is was just a weird coincidence an anomaly, glitch. Thanks for your help. You can delete my log.

  5. Hi! I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but I was wondering if anyone is having an issue with email notifications. I usually get a bunch everyday, and I haven't had a single one all day today. I find it a bit odd. I checked my account profile settings and nothing has changed. I was thinking of posting a note on a cache that I watch, just to test it, but not sure if that would be the thing to do. Any insights are much appreciated. TxVic

    Redux

Thanks for all the replies. I searched on Google in connection with geocaching, not just for redux itself. I didn't think it was a word, thought it was another acronym. I could have emailed the CO, but I have seen it used in quite a few names. Besides, I thought that these forums were for new people to ask questions and just maybe someone else was wondering as well. I know that I have learned much from reading through them and appreciate the time that seasoned cachers spend to help out the new people. Someday, I will too.

    Redux

I have searched forums and Google, but I can't find out what "redux ' in a cache title means, as in "Hebron Parkway Powertrail #01 - Redux". I have met a few cachers, but I keep forgetting to ask them. Can anyone shed some light? TIA
  8. I just went ahead an got my own Christmas/Birthday/Mother's Day/ and any other holiday present, until the guilt goes away for spending the $$$! I got a Delorme PN-60 and it arrived yesterday. It's loaded up and ready to go!
  9. I'm new too and read all I could. I also watched a bunch of you tube videos, my favorites were the GeoSnippets, informative and sometimes humorous. The best thing I did was to always look for caches that had been found recently, that way I would know it's still there. And, I too, look for the larger ones, but I have found some tiny ones along the way. Is it fun? Heck yes!! But even better, are all the parks, historical places, and creativity that are a part of this hobby. Oh, and as someone else said, go to a group meeting or an event if you can. I went to a CITO, (Cache In, Trash Out) and a class before-hand. I met some cachers and got to look at several different types of GPS's. One cacher was nice enough to explain his in more depth and even let me use it to find a cache. This kind of "hands on" experience is invaluable and all the cachers I have met so far, are just so nice and helpful. One other piece of advice, if you aren't used to being in the woods, look up things that can hurt you in your area before you go out. I didn't and after my first weekend, well, it took a good 2 weeks to stop itching and heal up all the scratches. I was a mess. Cache on!
  10. I certainly enjoyed reading all of this and learned much. I love this place! I don't know any other geocachers, but am going to a meetup dinner tomorrow night and hope to meet a few. The only thing that I have to add is about giving up caching altogether. I can't imagine going to a park or even a big parking lot and not wondering..............now that I know hides are all over the place. Maybe after 2 years, it would be different, but it sure seems like an infection to me. Or maybe an addiction. If you love it, and can, then do what you love. It's a game and it's good! just my 2cents...
  11. This is a very interesting thread. I am not ever going to hide a cache until I learn much more and threads like this one are very helpful. Knowing what people like and don't like to see can only keep the game pure and fun. I hope some other people share and thanks to those that have so far. I haven't found that many yet, and I only did a TFTC, once so far, when mosquitoes were really getting me. But I made sure I went back and added to it. People who go to the trouble to make the caches interesting deserve more that just letters. Even people who just do an easy hide in a lamp post do too, because they took the time and gave me something to do at lunch, while in a hurry. I like that. Thanks For The Thread!
  12. As I sit here trying not to scratch the remnants of whatever I got into in the woods 2.5 weeks ago, looking for a cache I didn’t find, I thought typing might be a better thing to do. Howdy, TxVic here from just north of Dallas, TX. I was reading about someone on the Wiki, I believe, and they mentioned that they geocache for a hobby. I wish I could remember who it was. Anyhow, I had never heard the term so I looked it up. Intrigued, I wondered if I could do this with my Samsung Galaxy III that I got a few months ago, so I loaded a free app. Viola! Research time for me. I started reading in these forums a bit, watched a Bunch of the GeoSnippets (love those), found my first beginner’s cache a few days later. Totally hooked now, after discovering a bunch of nice parks near my work, and other cool places near my home, I know I’ll be having fun at this game for quite some time. I bought the paid app and premium membership and just love all the information on this site. I am still learning, probably always will be and that’s part of the fun. I plan to wait until I have found at least 100 caches before I hide any myself. That way, I can do it up right. I also, wood burned 10 wooden nickels to leave in caches I like. I have one left and am working on the next set. I’m not good at wood burning either, but will get better. Looking forward to a trip to Houston and Galveston to drop off some TB’s I was lucky enough to find. That isn’t the purpose of the trip, but it’s going to make it a whole lot more fun. I already have planned some caches to check out and hope to leave the TB’s along with one of my own, with my #10 wooden nickel. I wonder who will find it? I hope it gets to travel.
  13. I may need to add a kit to my bag, good idea. Today, I was showing a VP of our company a typical hiding spot, picked up the skirt of a lamp post by us in our parking lot, jumped a bit as a tiny lizard jumped further. The VP laughed, but I don't think he'll be caching.
  14. HI all, I'm new to this very fun game and so is my daughter. I just have to share this story. Today, at lunch, we were both out looking for caches, not together. She calls, kind of freaked out. She says, "Mom, I just pulled a big frog out of a hole! It was as big as my hand!" She was so freaked, she didn't think to take a picture. I about died laughing. After I got her calmed down, I mentioned a video I watched that helped me out, about what to put in a bag when out searching. I also told her that I keep a flashlight to shine in holes. She thought that was a good idea. Go figure. And she's usually pretty smart. So, to all the new people out there, beware of frogs that look like geocaches, the sneaky critters. What a great time this is!! TxVic
  15. Hi, Kind of new at this. I did field notes from my phone. Then I came on here and logged them. I had 7 finds and I found 4 more today. But because of what I did with the field notes, I think, it shows 17 finds altogether. How do I fix this? I looked around and didn't find a way to delete them. Help? I only want the credit for what I found.
