  1. In my humble newbie opinion there is nothing wrong with a Bookcrossing cache. I don't see it as being commercial. We placed a Bookcrossing book (among several other items) in our first placed cache.
  2. quote: Also I'm currently high bidder Just curious, why did you bid on the smaller of the two, when both start at the same $9.99 opening bid?
  3. quote:if i remember what the manuael for my extrex said, the extrex was designed to be held in one hand(the left hand) and it is easiest to opperate if you learn to use it that way. Etrex Legend in my left hand and my walking stick in my right... works for this right-handed newbie!

  5. quote: I'll repeat myself. I Like them all and I'm glad I'm not picky. In fact I dislike the "picky" attitudes that some cachers have. It does nothing to promote the hobby and in fact will make some newer cachers nervous about placing a cache. After all they'd hate to have a picky cacher call their cache lame. You make a very good point. We are very new to this, but after about 15 finds (and extensive reading of these boards) we felt confident in placing our own cache. I was very nervous about 2 things. 1.) that my coordinates would be off, and 2.) that the cache would be boring. I was a happy-cacher when the first finder reported it as a cool cache.

  7. I like the idea, but in the mean time what I do is either print the cache page or add it to my watch list.
  8. Welcome! My wife and I also just started, and every one of the caches we've found so far has been a blast. We've found cool places that we didn't even know existed, right in our own neighborhood. We got to see the L.A. City F.D. perform rescue drills in a remote area. Saw a rattler. The adventures just keep getting better. It sure beats surfing the net ALL the time! We're planning our own cache for hiding soon.
  9. We are new to this and just picked up the eTrex Legend yesterday. In 2 days we got 11/12 and the Legend got us within 5 feet of every one. The only one we didn't get to was due to parking problems. Paul & Suzanne Your Mileage May Vary
