GC81D1 - A cool virtual Here are some that aren't too far from LAX, but we haven't done them yet: GCD9B5 GC2F88 GCCB0 GC4BA2 Have fun! 2. Add me to the growing list of very happy customers! The buttons and service are awesome!
  3. Go for it. Is nudity really that big a deal? Sheesh! I'd hunt for it and if I still had youngin's I'd have no problem having them along. As others have mentioned, just be sure it's in the description for those who don't feel that nudity is appropriate. Be sure to make it hard enough so that some quality time could be spent searching Paul
  4. quote:I one of these sticks from ebay. It was a great transaction and a great stick. And I havent seen a better price. I would recommend buying from this seller if you are an ebayer. We can definitely vouch for these as well. Great sticks and super-friendly sellers. We had our personalized sticks within a week.
  5. Our first days of geocaching were in the hot summer months. WATER. We should have brought WATER! We also did several where we discovered that we took the longer, harder trail to the cache. Actually, that still happens
  6. quote:I'm not one to poo-poo creative cache ideas, however, given the current situation I would strongly advise against taking photos of military and police buildings. The military buildings I can sort of understand, although I do wonder why if you, the general public, can see it from the outside, what is the problem with a photograph from the outside? Police buildings? If you couldn't photograph/video police buildings, then the local news should be shut down (they seem to do remotes from the PDs nightly).
  7. The only MOC we've ever done was lousy! A boring cache in an uppity city park (had to pay to get in, unless you were a city resident). To me, the biggest benefit to membership is the pocket queries and the satisfaction of being able to give a little bit back to those that keep the site going.
  8. We saw that cache and were planning to log it eventually. I think the problem with it was that police cars aren't a permanent location (a requirement). I would recommend a new cache, but instead of police cars, how about police stations? Paul
  9. Thanks CR for the solution. I was hoping I could do it with one query, but it looks like for now it'll have to be 2. I like your suggestion! I hope it will be looked at and seriously considered by TPTB.
  10. How can I get a query to return all locationless caches? If I'm not mistaken, there are only about 300 of them, so the number of results is not a problem at this time. The problem I seem to have is in the location. I can't get the distance field greater than 500 miles from any given point. It appears the locationless caches use the coordinates originally entered when the cache was created.
  11. No pocket queries here since the 1st.

    ARGH!!!

    Oops... wrong thread!

    ARGH!!!

Still no pocket queries here. None since the 1st.
  14. Welcome to the hobby (obsession, addiction, call it what you will). You aren't too terribly far from us, so one day we may meet on the trail. When it gets too hot up your way, come over to Ventura County. We've got loads of caches that are "summer-friendly." Paul
  15. Parking as close as you can to the cache coordinates is not always the best place to park (was reminded of this one recently... again)
  16. How about organizing a clean-up event cache for that "Garbage Dump" cache site? Paul
  17. I found THIS some time ago. Maybe it will help. I'm not suggesting all of them be used, but some are good.
  18. I do this regularly with Streets & Trips when we go on road trips to unknown areas. I highly recommend the patch to allow S&T to refresh every 2 seconds, instead of the (default) very slow 15 seconds. The patch for S&T 2001,2002 can be found HERE Does anyone know if S&T 2003 is worth the upgrade? Until I find a 2 second refresh patch, I am very reluctant to get it. If you really want to impress someone, try live tracking on USA PhotoMaps Just be sure to d/l the needed photos before you go. Paul
  19. I found the problem. I had to rebuild one of my queries after I accidentally deleted it. I clicked one wrong box resulting in no query. DOH!
  20. For the past few days I've only been receiving the first query on my list. Anyone else having this problem?
  21. quote: I missed that it was Java Juno. Now I'm really confused. I stick by my previous post to change the hint, but not the cache name. It sounds like the new owners want it to become more commercial that it already is. Adding greater commercialism to the cache doesn't fall into any grandfathering policy, IMHO. If the new owners don't like it, then it should be archived, although I'd hate to see that happen. It seems like the cache is enjoyed by those who find it. Paul
