  1. I am sorry I said guys and not people. I did not mean to insult anyone. I had only seen that picture one time for a very brief second the other day and I could not remember all of the details. Again, I apologize if I insulted anyone. Thanks again.
  2. That is it!! Thanks so much. I appreciate your help. Thanks again. robert4
  3. There has been a thread this week, that had a picture of 4 guys looking into a hedge or bush looking for a cache. I have been trying to find this thread again, and I have had no luck. If someone knows what I am referring to, could you please direct me to it either in a link, or just a title and section so that I can navigate to the thread. There were some other funny things in this thread. Thanks for the help in advance. robert4
  4. Thanks for the help. I probably will go ahead and get the non nt version. I was worried that I would lose some features that might be real helpful. Thanks again. robert
  5. I have a garmin gps map 60 csx. I want to get the city nav software. I can purchase the city nav ver 8 right now with some gift cards I have been given, or I could order the nt version and have to pay. I would rather use the gift cards, but I am worried that I will be giving up some good stuff, not getting the nt version. Please tell me what yall think about the 2 versions - performance, user friendly, overall program. Thanks in advance for the informaion. robert
  6. I currently have my track log set to on(my unit is recording the tracks). Could this be the reason that I am not seeing the "snap back" of the lock on road feature and I am seeing where I am actually(the measured) going?
  7. Sorry to keep bringing this up, but just when I thought I had this, maybe I don't. I currently have lock on roads set to on. On my way to work this morning, I was looking at the map page (and the traffic), and where the Interstate made a curve (on the map), my tracks went straight through the curve to meet the road on the other side. Should the lock on roads setting, have kept the tracks and icon on the Interstate? Also, I only have the basemap that came with the unit and no other maps. I did not know if that affected the map page. Thanks again for helping me out!!
  8. Thanks for the help. That makes a lot more sense. My icon kept leaving the road although I had the lock on roads enabled. Thanks again for the information. Robert
  9. Thanks for the information, but I am not sure that I understand. I believe that I currently have the lock on roads enabled. If I go off the road, my icon on the map screen does not show me on the road. Can you please straighten me out? Thanks again for your patience.
  10. I do not understand what the "lock on roads" setting does under the map setup. When I use the routing feature, I can tell it to navigate on the roads or off road. Is this the same thing? If not, what is the difference, and what would the best setting be. I have read about it in the manual, but I do not understand. Thanks in advance for the info. Robert
  11. I have read several posts about the Invisible Shield that say that this is a good product. I also read about someone using a PDA screen protector. They cut the screen protector to the right dimensions. Does anyone have any expierence with these protectors? Are they good to use? I don't want to ruin the screen of my GPS. Thanks for the help. Robert
  12. I am considering getting one of these units. I have read some threads in this forum that suggest that holding the 60CSx vertical is better than holding the unit horizontal. I just looked at Garmin's page and the specs say that they have the same antennae(although they look different). Is it also best to hold the 76 CSx vertical? If not and it is OK to hold the 76 CSx horizontal, this reason plus the rebate, might push me over toward the 76. I know the button configuration is different, but I think I could give on that, if I could hold the unit horizontal. What do yall think. Thanks in advance!!
  13. I made a post earlier regarding my decision on which unit to purchase, the 60CSX or the Vista CX. One of the responses alluded to the fact that the Magellan might have just as good reception as the new 60CSX. What is everyone's thoughts and experience with this. I will be using my unit under heavy tree cover. Also, what does it mean when people are saying that the 60csx may tend to wander some? Thanks in advance. robert
  14. Thanks for the opinions and advice. I will probably continue to save for the GPSMap60CSX. From some of the information given above, I think that Vista Cx does not have a sirf chip. On the garmin page it just says 12 channel as compared to the GPSMap60CSx that says Sirf. If I have misunderstood, please let me know. Thanks again for the advice.
  15. I am new to using a GPS (the last GPS unit I used was a Magellan Trail Blazer, I think 3 channel)and I was looking for reviews on different units, when I came on this site. I have been reading the posts for quite some time and I have become very interested in geocaching. My initial use was going to be primary in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, with a secondary use in the car. Now I will add geocahing to my uses. I had initially decided on the GPSMap60csx because of the outstanding reception it seems to get, but I backed off this decision after I read some of the reviews and questions about it. I have started to look at the Vista CX because of the price, but I was not still sure b/c no SIRF chip. I am leaning back toward the GPSMap60CSX because the area that I will use it in is heavily wooded with pine trees. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly aprreciated. Thanks in advance.
