  3. is this what you are looking for? http://science.nasa.gov/Programs/Pagebuild...ngitude=0&B1=Go
  4. I would also put a fuse on both the positive and negative sides. Just remember that everything will be on even when the vehicle is turned off. If you forget to turn everything off you might have a dead battery the next morning one thing i have done for the hard wired multi outlets is to install a heavy duty toggle switch so i have a master off switch
  5. Hey thats what i've been looking for THANK YOU
  6. I currently have a m515 palm and love it. it has a SD card slot that i have a couple of cards for, i currently have over 7000 caches and benchmarks on a 128mb card with a whole lot of room left. i use GSAK to download caches from GC using queries (make sure you get .gpx files) and to sort the info once i get it. I then transfer to cachemate on my 515 its quite easy to deal with and i have all the info i need including logs for the caches. BTW i loaded cachemate DIRECTLEY onto my SD card through the pda and do the same with the cache files. hope this helps
  7. you might try THIS thread as i see it there is no way to use the search on your palm while looking by way point at this time, I wish it did do this it would make it much easier to just go to a specific cache. what you are doing now with the graffiti is how it is done at this time (while in way point mode) not as easy in my opinion especially with 7000 way points loaded as i have.
  8. Wo Ho membership pending! I am ready for the membership card, Secret handshake, and official SPECIAL hat for club meetings. (horns on a hat have been overdone) 4 or 6 times a year for coins is good.
  9. Ken, here is a list of intersection station.... 01 = LONE TREE 02 = CONSPICUOUS ROCK 03 = MOUNTAIN PEAK 04 = ROCK PINNACLE 05 = ROCK AWASH 11 = PILING 12 = DOLPHIN 13 = LIGHTHOUSE 14 = NAVIGATION LIGHT 15 = RANGE MARKER 16 = DAYBEACON 17 = FLAG TOWER 18 = SIGNAL MAST 21 = AIRPORT BEACON 22 = AIRWAY BEACON 25 = RADAR ANTENNA 26 = SPHERICAL RADOME 27 = RADIO RANGE MAST 28 = LORAN MAST 41 = ANTENNA MAST 42 = RADIO/TV MAST 43 = RADIO/TV TOWER 44 = MICROWAVE MAST 45 = MICROWAVE TOWER 51 = TANK 52 = STANDPIPE TANK 53 = ELEVATED TANK 54 = WATER TOWER 55 = TOWER 56 = SKELETON TOWER 57 = LOOKOUT TOWER 58 = CONTROL TOWER 61 = POLE 62 = FLAGPOLE 63 = STACK 64 = SILO 65 = GRAIN ELEVATOR 66 = WINDMILL 67 = OIL DERRICK 68 = COMMERCIAL SIGN 69 = REGULATORY SIGN 70 = MONUMENT 71 = BOUNDARY MONUMENT 72 = CAIRN 73 = LOOKOUT HOUSE 74 = LARGE CROSS 75 = BELFRY 81 = GABLE 82 = FINIAL 83 = FLAGSTAFF 84 = LIGHTNING ROD 85 = CHIMNEY 86 = CUPOLA 87 = DOME 88 = OBSERVATORY DOME 89 = SPIRE 90 = CHURCH SPIRE 91 = CHURCH CROSS 92 = ANTENNA ON ROOF 93 = MICROWAVE ANTENNA ON BUILDING 94 = ROOFTOP VENTILATOR 95 = ROOFTOP BLOCKHOUSE The number preceding the equal mark is the marker type ID#, it usually is listed on the NGS datasheet. A benchmark can be found by more than 1 person, there is a bonus if you are the 1st to recover the benchmark. Good luck, John John, nOOb Question I have been going through my data base and have noted there are several intersection stations that do not match up with this list. what do i do in these cases??
  10. I am all for a pen or coin and will gladly anti up for the opportunity to have one.
  11. AK, if this is your property you should have a legal description of your parcel included in the deed. at least we did when i lived in Talkeetna, from this it will give your meridian, township etc. clear down to the disk you have found.
  12. count me in I will give it my best. if I am not up to snuff on points can i still buy a pin as a participant?
  13. hey this is pretty cool where so you find there things at! i have launched 6 and had one stick so far, i wonder how long it will last, like getting to the center of a tootsie pop.
  14. actually YES if you STORE the unit and magnet too close it is just like a computer you have the possibility of erasing all of your data from the micro card and the internal storage device of the gpsr. OTHER than that hynr is probably correct, it should not have an effect on the operation of the unit.
  15. I'd like to start paperless caching - I have a M505, but I don't know how to use it. Is there specific software I need. Okay, I'll say it - "Help!" I figure I have a palm, now what do I do? you only need two other programs #1 is GSAK, #2 is cachemate from smittyware.com this makes going paperless EASY, of course that is a purely personal opinion
  16. Another place to check is LLBean.com same guarantee as R.E.I etc. and they will ship overseas.
  17. people on E-Bay are looking for a deal i would put the unit on for around $250 and hope you end up at the $350 or $400 mark. make sure you give a verry accurate description of the unit and make sure absolutely everything is included that the unit came with. as a side note you would not be having this issue if you would have gone with a retailer that would take back the unit and traded you with no money lost along with no questions asked.
  18. I have no clue as to why, but i agree i doubt a RF enviroment will be GPSr specific.
  19. just one question. might there be a light setting in the menu somewhere that will turn on the keypad?
  20. I must be missing something. it would seem at times easier to search for a cache by entering the code for a cache rather than the coordinates. is there a way to pick between the two for a search. If not is it something we could expect in the not to distant future?
  21. Sigh. I keep on trying to explain why the comcept of D's applied to individual satellites doesn't make much sense, yet people still seem to think WAAS is a per-satellite correction. What am I doing wrong? i can FEEL your frustration but remember 35 will be in its new location soon and everyone will think they recieved a magical fix for their GPSr
  22. I just visited the palm site and it looks like you have SDcard capability. if this is the case you will be able to store as much information as you want depending on the card size. you will need to go to palm and make sure you have the latest upgrade of software other than that it will work fine with XP as long as you are not using a Toshiba computer, they have had big issues with palm software wise, this is from personal experience. i could not get my 515 to work with my toshiba. make sure you get cachemate from smittyware.com $8, load it onto your SDcard and you should be good to go downloading cache info. I use GSAK and have not had a problem with my 515. my palm currently shows on my 128MB SD card i have free space 121.7MB of 122.4MB i have information on 242 sites currently loaded. my application directory has 3 items using 590.9KB as you can see the potential is nearly limitless. hope this helps.
  23. sounds like a problem i had when i did this the first time. When you go into PQ and set it up you may be hitting some filters that are cancelling each other out. start out with a NEW quary give it a name to associate it with the area you want to get info from, Check days to generate make sure you check today choose how often you want this query to run, choose how many caches to find i suggest 500 to start, next check traditional cach, event cache, multi-cache, next make sure you check the containers sizes you want to look for, here is an important part check "I havent found", "i don't own", "is active", "are not on my ignore list" check your difficulty range keep this as wide as possible to start, check the state you want to get info from, and last is what i missed the first time "Placed during" select "the last Year" to start, this should get you a decent data base to get started with. save the PQ then go check your e-mail i shouldnt take long to get your results save from your e-mail to a folder you creat on your desk top, mine is geo sites. hope this helps.
