Had heard about it years ago but didn't give it much thought. Then at my daughter's birthday party, the DJ was talking about his most recent geocaching trip. He mentioned there were a couple near my residence. I downloaded the app, found 2 on my first trip, and now I have purchased a GPS. Looking forward to finding more.

I have just begun caching and this is one of the hangups I have is looking for a cache in public places. So far, I have only hunted for two that were in the woods. The rest around me seem to be at or near public places. One (that I even attempted) even states "do not go at night" and "do not draw attention to yourself" but goes on to say there is plenty of parking. So does this mean the person who placed the cache didn't check with the business owner? I will say that you do pay less attention when someone is with you but I want to be able to geocache whenever I want even if that means by myself.

I am new to geocaching so I paid for the $10 Iphone App before purchasing a hand held GPS. The app works pretty well when you are in a location that gets good cell service and/or WIFI. The town I live in is a small community and the app either freezes up or the location is off. So I have begun my researching of GPS devices.

I just began geocaching on Monday with my daughter....a cache near where I work says "depmuts" in the description. Can someone tell me what that means? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
